It's all about having a proper team. And MKP has just that. He'll do very well very quickly I think.

good luck MKP, thanks for the memories, hope you have a more relaxed and stress free time.

You know you are implying the exact same as him but backwards right? First you say they are different games but then you come up with Coca and Puzzle failing at LoL, clearly implying something else.

Michael Jordan flopped when he switched from basketball to baseball, that doesn't imply baseball is harder. Different games require different skills.
It's all about respecting the work that the top players have put in. These guys have put thousands of hours into practicing the game, expecting someone like MKP who's just switching over to be at the top because he played a "harder game" is asinine. (and I don't mean to imply that's your view, just making a general statement)

Lack of social aspect in the community. The experience of SC2 is very cold, even for the beginner. You play a ladder match, and you get bad mannered or mocked for being of lesser skill. You leave ladder game, thats it. There is minimal interaction between casual gamers. The channel sytem and BNET 2.0 is comical to say the least. So the casual gamer gets frustrated with a game that is harder to pick up as opposed to others, as a community during ladder games we are for the most part disrespectful toward them (calling them noobs ect.), and they are left with a channel/bnet system that does not promote social activity. And we are really asking why SC2 is losing some popularity?
Casual gamers are what gives a game its popularity, they are responsible for high views, and ultimately responsible for more tournaments with higher prizes. Casual gamers want to buy the same mouse or keyboard that Jaedong has or MKP has, casual gamers are the ones who make up the bulk of twitch.tv views, casual gamers make up the bulk of audiences at tournaments around the world. What do we do as a community? We bad mouth them for their lesser amount of skill, we charge them 100 dollars an hour for lessons, we give them a BNET system with a laughable social integration, we charge them HD subscriptions to watch GOM.TV in a decent quality, and we ban them on TeamLiquid for making a post that might be slightly misinformed or having an opinion that is unpopular. Then we sit here and ask why this game is losing popularity? We treat people like trash for the MOST part. Stop claiming we are a community and starting ACTING like we are a community.
If I am temp banned for expressing my feelings in a mature and constructive way, it only speaks to what I'm trying to communicate here. /Rant Over
User was temp banned for this post. I don't know why people who write decent rants attempt to ruin it by calling out to mods that temp banning said rant is ok/useless/doesnt matter/im expressing my view and some facts here. Because the truth hurts. If you don't think mkp leaving sc2 is a big deal then I feel sorry for you cause it is. ya, it's quite a big deal although he's been struggling for a long while now being knocked out of code A and all. This often repeated argument seems odd to me. The timeline seems to be that he started switching to LoL before being knocked out of Code A. That was probably just the impetus to announce the switch publicly. I wasn't saying that he switched because he wasn't doing well. SCII isn't doing well in Korea and LoL is seen as the spirit successor to BW. Considering MKP loved BW and seeing how the SCII scene is going(saturated, people retire, really competitive etc...), he might've decided to switch to LoL after giving it a try and enjoying himself. Speculating here.

Many of my favorite players have left the scene and it is just too difficult to play Terran at a high level in comparison to Zerg and Protoss. I'm not talking balance, I'm talking mechanical skill and effort required to come out on top in macro and micro. It really seems like the "best" players have their run for about a year to 2 years max, then they become a no-name in the scene again. GG, SC2. It's been fun. That's nice? cmon, focus on MKP's retirement and not your SCII retirement lol Old School sc2 players doing bad just make everyone feel bad... I haven't played sc2, since Mvp lost in WCS Eu season 2 well, not disagreeing with you. Just meant he should say farewell or something instead of only saying I stopped playing SCII since MKP stopped.

I think making SC2 to be a lot more fun is pretty simple. Focus less on macro mechanics, and add in more combat mechanics.
BW's macro mechanics were dry as hell, you have SCVs/Drones/Probes, and they mine minerals + gas. That's it. None of this retarded MULEing, Queen Larva Injects, Chrono boost stuff. It's much more fun to watch people microing/fighting/expanding to 9 different bases, than watching them saturate their 3 base economy with mule spam.

Indeed, people who claim that LoL is easier are just jumping to conclusions because they are watching a game that they are not used to watch or play. Both rts and moba are mechanically taxing, but in different ways.
In rts, everything is about the speed. Each of your clicks might not be very precise, but that does not matter as long as you have the necessary speed to make up for it. You lost one engagement due to poor micro? Who cares, when you are harassing at three other locations because you have the speed to cycle through all of your hitsquads and give them rough orders.
In moba, everything is about precision. All the speed in the world does not matter, if you do not manage to place the clicks at the exact location where it matters, at the exact time when it matters. What does it matter that you are able to control two seperate groups of units? If your opponent is mechanically superior to you and last kills every of your mob while denying you killing his, his team is more likely to win.
Personally, I prefer watching rts because watching a player handle three seperate engagements at the same time (in addition to macro) is much more impressive than watching a single player killing and denying every creep in front of him for 40 minutes while dodging his opponents attacks. But that is just my opinion.
Anyways, back to topic: does it make me a bad person, if I hope that MKP fails in LoL so that he returns to sc2?

I'll follow MKP to the ends of the world.

I don't see how some e-famous Korean nerd changing games should affect anything I do outside of this post.

Well gl hf MKP. I hope you do well in LoL and continue your life as a progamer!

sad sad day for Sc2

I know that MKP captured a lot of fans attention back in the WoL days. The MKP/DRG rivalry is still one of the best things to happen to the SC2 competitive scene!
Unfortunately for him, he just wasn't getting the results he wanted since HOTS launched, and even arguably in the later days of WoL. Best of luck to him in LoL, though.

Honestly, I'm devastated to see MKP leave SC2 as he was one of my fav players to watch, but I can't say I'm surprised.
Is anyone actually surprised that tons of the old guard of eSF players are switching to LoL as they get run out of the true elite ring by the Kespa players? I'm guessing MC is next.

Don't know about LoL, but you can't switch to Dota 2 from LoL or SC2. After 3 months of training MarineKing is diamond in LoL. Dota 2 is impossible to compete at the top level without YEARS of experience. Not a single Dota 2 pro in the current scene is without DotA 1 or HoN experience. SeleCT had SOME DotA 1 experience but it was not sufficient (I am a better Dota 2 player than him, lol). Meanwhile Hyhy switched from Dota 2 to LoL and within couple months he is competing at the top.
