In three weeks some of world's best players will battle it out in Stockholm when DreamHack host the premiere of DreamHack Open 2013 presented by EIZO, Logitech G and Kingston HyperX. Today we're very excited to present the full competitor list for DreamHack Open Stockholm.
In the second batch and the full list, you'll find names like the DreamHack Summer 2011 Champion Evil Geniuses HuK, the double MLG Champion Leenock from Team FXO, Swedish Superstar Naniwa, last year's Stockholm runner-up CMStorm Polt, one half of the Spanish Armada Lucifron from Karont3, Korean Zerg power in AZUBU viOLet and DreamHack Open 2012 top contender and Austrian sensation Monchi. And of course, many many more.
Go get your tickets DreamHack presented a star-studded caster line-up including Apollo, Artosis, iNcontroL, TaKe and Adebisi that will be covering the event live on-site. Spectator tickets is still available at www.ticnet.se but in limited amount. The event will be open from 11.00 to 24.00 each day, with the Final 8 show during Saturday afternoon/ evening (exact stage schedule TBA).
What a sick lineup. Worried for EGTL in PL though.
EDIT: Nvm, that's great :D the lost practice time might end up hurting them but a good performance from the EGTL guys might help get their confidence even higher.
Wohoo! it seems like team prOperty will finally have a big presence in a huge tournament! cant wait to see RunA and Bobson fight their way through this line up :D
I'm really curious on how Huk will do, with the exception of a few games at mlg, he hasn't been playing much in tournaments. So he'll have tons of time to practice. Also haven't seen Sage play in some time, though that could just be me not watching him in tourneys. Violet gonna do well as always too.

Dunno, if they haven't I would be really disappointed, alot of teamless players signed up who have a similar distance to travel who obviously pay it out of their own pocket. And I imagine that being the case of alot of players on lesser known teams as well.

they definitely didnt sign up, Huk didnt even know about the tournament until after the first batch of competitors was released, and he got in ( )
German players in general seem to mostly stick to German tournaments or tournaments where the travel costs are covered with online qualifiers. At least XMG sends their players :-)

I don't understand why tournament organizers still invite too many players in general and too many koreans to their events in 2013. Dreamhack will likely be ace, but it will suffer in a lot of ways, as will teams suffer because their travelling expenses go up, while there's going to be little media (sponsorship) coverage for their players due to the huge amount of players. 16-24 players with mixed origin and background is the ideal number. I guess we don't want E-Sports growing in terms of production, coverage quality and prize money as fast as it could be growing.

Since Dreamhack doesn't run a qualifier system for these events it would be quite hard to organize an open tournament for everyone with just max 24 players. I also really like these kind of big tournaments in general.
And most tournaments have stopped doing invites by now btw.

I dont understand how someone with over 1k posts still doesn't know Dreamhack doesn't invite anyone. It's a open, so who registers can come as long as there are spots left.
And making Dreamhack into a 16/24 max tournaments would be the dumbest thing ever. Its now the only tournament thats 100% open until the final event and its doing pretty good when you see the players list.

Everything is becoming invite only these days which is pretty lame in my book when it comes to establishing talent. I'm not a fan of what MLG is doing and I'm not a fan of this either, which DH has been doing for a lot longer format wise.

Dreamhack is an open tournament, it is quite the opposite of invite only. SortOf for example signed up to late and could´nt get in, while a bunch of no-names are attending, simply because they signed up earlier.
I don't mean to stir up anything with Thorzain fans but... + Show Spoiler +
However this is a game of significant amount of luck and "random" variables when you reach a certain level of proficiency as far as I could tell since the beta. Top 10 could be anyone in this list almost (of the premier 30 competitors).
I'm guessing the final 8 players reveled will be pretty ridiculous. I'd like to see some more Americans on that list through; I think the only North Americans attending are Flo, Huk, and Goswser.

16 Koreans attending, just enough to grab all the prize money! :D

I think it is, there are 64 "pros" attending, whereas I believe there normally is 32 pros and 32 unknowns. Of which usually 32/32 or 31/32 of the pros make it to the RO32

Sure, but it still gives anyone a chance (Or would normally, this DH is an exception, because so many people signed up), so it´s fine for me. I think the only tourney, that uses only qualifiers atm. is IEM.
Edit @ Zenbrez: Only top 8 gets money, so more than half of the koreans will be flying home emty-handed. Probably even a few more, quite a few of the attending koreans looked vulnerable before and some of the attending foreigners can beat anyone, when they are in shape.

A chance but a small chance. I mean look at what Blizzard did with the WCS sign-ups for EU and NA as well. That's not a whole lot of time to sign-up and lock in man. It's bullocks.

As a huge DeMuslim fan this makes me sad too. He's a phenomenal player, in the past he has suffered from apparent nerves at live events but his performance in the last NASL was amazing (RO8 highest placed foreigner and went 2-3 against his Achilles-Heel Violet). I got so excited when he mentioned the Korea news and his possible appearance in PL but I wonder if that'll ever come to fruition. Even if it does it’ll most probably be in the final 6th leg when the coach may be less willing to take ‘risks’ and could also interfere with his participation in the NASL, pretty much the only league he consistently does.

Coca, Puzzle and sC announced their return to SC2 about a month ago. Seems the potential of HotS (and possibly the difficulty to break into the LoL pro-scene) has re-ignited their interest.

It has less to do with Dreamhack attracting top Korean's as it has with more foreign teams having top Korean's on their rosters sending them there.

It's missing the best 4 players in the world right now imo (Innovation, Life, Roro, Flash).
Great lineup nonetheless, much improved from previous Dreamhack's which have always underwhelmed me in terms of player pool.

VortiX didn't sign-up. He is not going cuz he is busy with studies right now and he has 2 exams the day before and the day after the tournament
That´s understandable, good luck to him then.
There's no argument for Taeja. He's been poor/injured for a while. Parting and Rain are both class players but neither have had a top finish in HOTS yet. Yoda is really good but imo hasn't been really tested yet by the real elite, he didn't go to MLG and though he won IEM it wasn't an elite pool like a Code S. Even today I don't really see DRG and Flying as top players.
Life is the best player in the world and last MLG winner, Roro just won Code S and made it out of his group in Code S. Innovation was Ro4 at MLG, Ro4 at the last GSL and has been sick in Pro League. Flash was MLG finalist, good pro league record.
I think you can argue against Roro and Flash but Life and Innovation are on another level imo.

I probably misunderstood you, thought you meant those for were "the" 4, like MC/MVP/Nestea were the three gods in early 2011. IMHO Life is the best player in the world and after that there is a small gap to rest of the world elite. Yoda is a name, I would´nt set inferior to anyone else, as besides his IEM-win, + Show Spoiler +
he just sweept a group, where MLG-top4-finisher MC had a really hard time

This is GuMiho's first foreign tournament... He originally stated that he won't attend foreign events until he's a GSL champion, but he's attending DreamHack so I guess he gave up on the idea of going to foreign tournaments a champion.
