Really? The koreans who are so greatly better than the foreigners and more so have more good players than everywhere else combined only get 5 spots, equal to the much weaker regions? Im all for foreigner only infrastructure but that is pure robbery.
Don't be surprised if the 5 NA representatives will be polt, violet and 3 esf/kespa guys

I don't see the Koreans practicing outside of Korea will get better. In fact I think they would hurt from not having the same resources as they would with the other guys. It's actually a smart in leveling the playing field by having them compete in other regions lol. Moving is pretty useless now because you deprive yourself of the biggest opportunity to get money and into the spotlight if you do.
Worst career move ever if you decide to move.

Dude, if a player is caught cheating online for this, the community will never forgive them. I think the community will be its own watch dog, plus blizz will have extra incentive to scrutinize so much more.

Kespa feels too strict to allow their B-teamers to play in anything online.

That's just region restriction though, not nationality.
Don't worry if you want more than proportional Korean representation in the Grand Finals. I am sure that at least more than half will be Koreans.
There are just so many Korean players who will play NA/EU.
I imagine most teams will split their team in half or something even if they don't move. to avoid competition.
Let's say Startale. It makes sense for them to split half their team ( the Code S Players) to play KR but for the lesser players ( non Code S, they should just go NA).
This way, they don't compete with each other so they can train more freely and don't hide builds from each other as well as spreading eggs in many basket.

Q: How was the broadcasting rights/fees situation resolved?
Mike Morhaime: All of the partners have received licenses. The exclusivity period has ended.

The benefit for a Korean to play in NA/EU does not outweigh the cons imo.
Yes you might get entry into the season finals which you otherwise would have no chance. but you don't get a chance at GSL/OSL for a whole year which is really prestigous and has pretty good money. You get no respect from any fans as you are just (that korean who isn't good enough for korea) and you get no competitive experience against the best players until the seasonal finals where you get your dick hammered in R1 by some code S player. It does have short team benefits but in the long run it makes no sense for someone who wants to make it as a progamer to play from Korea to outside of Korea

Shaun Clark @ApolloSC2 1m In 2014, Blizzard expect a much higher prize pool than the 1.6million$$$$ this year

Only way this is great is if there's a lot more prize money allocated to korea > europe > NA. That'll keep players where they should be, reward them properly, and just make more sense in general.

Ok, if the split for a WCS season finals go 5 from each region for a season, how do you get the fifth player for each split? Obviously the top 4 from a season are good to go, but then how would the fifth player be determined?
|
So looking past that OGN and GSL have merged into one big WCS event:
- We have 2 more gsl seasons (this one and 4th quarter 2013)
- and 1 OSL (summer season)
Is that correct?

My guess is that kespa will have to adapt to online play.
