[B] -Also I will play more League of Legends, but obviously its hard to break into the Proscene there, so im not going to put that much hope into getting anywhere there, but you never know what will happen :D Greetings, DarKFoRcE sad to see him go, but that line saddened me the most... the fact that he even thought about LoL. Just shows how much pros aren't being appreciated in the SC2 scene.. CMON GUYS CHEER FOR THE FOREIGNERS (especially if they play for your country).

Fragster: DarkForce, you recently announced your retirement even though Alternate offered to resign you. Why didn't you extend your contract, considering that in some sense it's easily earned money. DarkForce: On one side I simply didn't have the motivation to play SC2 and didn't want the constant pressure of knowing I should practice more. On the other side Alternate has always been fair to me and is one of the few teams in eSports that doesn't try to cheat players. That's why I thought it would be unfair to Alternate to accept a yearly contract with a salary I shouldn't realistically be receiving. Fragster: That approach is unusual in the scene. Would you wish for more people to follow your example and carry themselves the same way? DarkForce: Well, I also think, in general players get the short end of the stick. That's why no one can really blame them when a player does such a thing. It happens far more often that players get screwed over by teams or tournament organizations than the other way around. Fragster: Does that mean, that for a better eSports payment behavior* needs to change? DarkForce: Yeah the current payment behavior is definitely a problem. But part of the problem comes from the fact that in eSports, there's not that much money available yet. For relatively small amounts it doesn't pay off for the person that was cheated to hire an attorney. That's why contracts in eSports are often not worth much (except for Top-Players perhaps)**. Fragster: What do you believe is the solution to these problems? DarkForce: There is no short term solution in my opinion. In the long term, I believe that the audiences will continue to grow leading sponsors to fuel eSports with more money. This should make eSports as a whole more professional. Probably this won't completely solve the problem, because the management of teams simply has been around in eSports a long time and has a lot of experience with the way eSports currently handles itself. Players on the other hand are often young and handle in good faith***, who simply have to learn at first that promises have 0 value. Fragster: Let's talk more about you as a person: How much time did you generally invest a week or a month as a pro-gamer? DarkForce: For a long time I spent 5+ hours a day playing and the rest of the time I watched GSL/VOD/other tournaments. Some time during 2012 I played a lot less because I couldn't stay concentrated for hours on end. But even when I wasn't playing, I was often thinking about SC2 which certainly helped me a lot. Fragster: Are your parents proud of what you've done? DarkForce: My father more so than my mother I believe, but in the end they both supported me. My mother was just very skeptical when I paused my studies. Fragster: Are you going to pick your studies back up? DarkForce: No, as long as I can make money otherwise, I have little interest in a “normal” job. To that purpose, studying further wouldn't benefit me. Fragster: You wrote in your facebook post that you want to focus more on LoL and Poker. Is it your goal to make a living with those? DarkForce: Yeah I think with poker I should be able to make a living. LoL I will continue to play and if I become a good player, I'll attempt to get back into eSports again. Fragster: Does this mean we'll be able to watch you play “Offline”-events in Las Vegas soon? DarkForce: No, I've never been a big fan of multi table tournaments and I'm not very good at them. I'll be playing online cash games. Just for fun I would like to go to Las Vegas and while there I'd certainly play some poker. Fragster: What is the biggest accomplishment of your career? DarkForce: I think my 2-1 win versus aLive during the NASL finals was my biggest achievement. Fragster: What is the biggest failure of your career? DarkForce: Probably the 1-2 loss versus Sen also during the NASL finals. After that I spent 45 minutes signing autographs and then realized I was completely depressed. I went to bed at 7 and slept 12 hours. Fragster: That I remember well, that was very depressing. Now that you've left the pro-scene, who is the best German pro-gamer? DarkForce: Does Monchi count as German? Socke, HasuObs and Monchi are the best in general. Fragster: Will we see you commentate SC2 or LoL in the future? DarkForce: Well I'd love to cast, but there's two problems. Firstly, I'm not so super famous that everyone would instantly want me. And secondly, I live 5 hours by train from Collogne, so I couldn't even get to the ESL studio to cast with Kaelaris or something. But if anyone reads this and wants me as a caster, I'd welcome the invitation, best sent as a pm on Team Liquid! Fragster: Do you prefer English or German? DarkForce: Well I think my English is pretty good, so I don't care either way. Fragster: You said you might come back into eSports some day with LoL. How does it look for SC2, especially now that HotS will introduce severe changes in SC2-gameplay? DarkForce: Well, I've played some HotS-beta before I decided to quit SC2 and what I saw didn't really inspire me. Perhaps I'll feel like playing SC2 again in a year and will try to get back into eSports, but for now that's impossible to say. Fragster: Socke is now the last SC2 player on team Alternate. If you could pick a successor for yourself, who would it be? DarkForce: Hmm, I can't think of anyone this instant, sorry. Fragster: Is there already someone in talks? DarkForce: I don't know, I'm no longer involved. Fragster: I thank you for your time and effort. Do you have any final words for the community? DarkForce: Thanks for your support and even now I'm no longer playing, I still plan to make videos for my youtube channel. Other news you can find on my facebook or twitter. *Zahlungsmoral, refers to the way players are rewarded for their efforts. I believe it's a thinly veiled shot at ESL without stating as much. But that's my own interpretation, maybe DarkForce can explain in more detail. I'm basing it on a recent statement he made on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/18dekb/how_riot_and_esl_are_not_paying_tournament_prizes/c8dtn14 **As a player it's important to evaluate any agreement that you sign. For contracts, I'd recommend teams and players base them on the old G7 contracts which are relatively solid compared to some others I've seen. ***Naive perhaps fits better
