Why it becomes void? What if Blizzard gives u that many accounts per server as regional licences u have? Then it is not down the drain void or whatever u call it.
Peopel just assume they will only get one account per server if they have multiple licences. There is no announcement of Blizzard yet how they deal with it, but it will come.

Because people in this very thread have contacted Blizzard support and have been told that this is not going to happen. Yes, if Blizzard would give people a separate account for every license they have, that would be fine, and I would shut up. But it does not look like that's going to happen.

Have you ever worked customer support? Let's just say that oftentimes the head doesn't talk to the hands. When Global Play is released officially I would bet a lot of money that (even if not straight away - bugs happen) Blizzard will fix this issue, in the same way that if you have two WoW accounts on a BNet ID, when you log in, you have a tick box to decide which account to log onto.

Or if you prefer - OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!

No one fucking made you buy more than one copy.You, on your wish, bought another copy of a different region so you can have access to other servers. So,no, Blizzard should not give you a single coin because you bought another copy.It was your wish.

Not if they listen to all the fine gentlemen here who say that this is exactly what Blizzard should not do. It would be nice, definitely, but I'm not holding my breath.

And, honestly, what annoys me more than Blizzard potentially screwing over their customers is the people here saying that's just what Blizzard should do. :/

No you shouldn´t get a free copy of HOTS, its self explanatory.

No you shouldnt get a refund, you know/should have knew that global play was a possiblity (blizzard said so themself).

What you should get are 1 profile/licence/character per WoL game bought.Obviosly if you want all of those characters to play in HOTS, u need 1 HOTS game per character/profile/WoL licence.

Because not everything is a conspiracy theory, despite what some people like to think. I honestly doubt Blizzard would hurt their game in the long run for a relatively marginal amount of money in a 2 year period.


Its not a conspiracy theory, it was a business strategy. I mean they had global support for Warcraft 3 (not sure about Starcraft, and Warcraft 2), so its really no excuse not to have it in Starcraft 2 from the beginning. Also how do you know its relatively marginal? You'd have to find the number of extra copies of WoL that were sold to people who bought them for the purpose of playing on other regions.


Technological capabilities comes second to financial and legal capabilities. Different regions have developed different laws and social policies since Starcraft and Warcraft 3. Not to mention different economic environments necessitate different marketing Strategies (China's payment plans vs. Korea Bangs vs. typical game sales for example). Further more there was likely a server management component to it since there are many more people playing SC2 then SC or WC3 peaks in their time. Finally there was indeed a business component in the form of this being some form of IP control and roundabout DRM.

Overall individuals with multiple copies minus perhaps pro players who may have been contractually obligated to have access to all the major server regions for tournaments and practice, did so of their own free will. It was not a requirement to fully experience WoL,instead people paid $60.00 for a chance to face a Korean.

Blizzard could acknowledge these die-hard gamers with some kind of achievement/unique skins/some other cheap give away, but they shouldn't bend over to compensate these people like they maliciously/accidentally took away a part of the advertised package. If they had Global Play from the start and dropped it, that is one thing, but they didn't include or advertise they capability from the start.

Basically we paid twice for WoL in order to get something that is now a part of the base WoL package, so IMO we should get back that money in some fashion. Getting a free copy of HotS seems reasonable, since it was Blizzard being bad at making a game that caused the whole issue in the first place.


It's Actiblizzard we're talking here, they'll probably find some reason to ban both your accounts and extract more money

Yesterday I was at a party with some friends and we were talking about how entitled people are today. This thread pretty much backs that up. I did not pay twice for WoL and I don't think people who did should get free copies of HotS that they won't use. People who did knew there was a risk that global play would make those extra copies useless and they bought them anyways.

I have to agree with this. Although i don't own 2 copies of sc2, it's clear that it's a business tactic.
The same with all the new features (eg. watch replays with friends) which are coming out at exactly the time we need to go to the stores and buy HOTS.
Still i have to agree with their business tactics, it works great for them.

Very much agree with this. It seems like a third of the people posting in this thread are actually glad that some people will get screwed over by this.

Now, I have two SC2 copies but attached to different accounts so I'm not really too fuzed about this, but that doesn't mean what Blizzard is doing is okay. If you bought two copies of the game you should be entitled to two accounts. Sure, asking for refunds or free copies of HotS is just ignorant, but at least let people keep the accounts they've already bought and payed for.

If you think like that then Blizzard would have been better off simply not doing it at all. They did a favor to those who don't have all regional copies and made the game better.

Ah, I did not read the OP well enough to understand that you lose the extra account. That's rubbish and should be changed into a new account.
