With Global Play, those with 2 or more copies of SC2 on one account, for multiple regions, will have bought multiple copies of SC2 for no eventual reason. The money paid for those additional copies will be meaningless.
Should Blizzard be nice and do something like give free HotS to people who now have multiple copies of SC2 that they were made to buy because of the lack of Global Play? Or is it just a case of screw the customers and they shouldn't get anything?
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/starcraft-ii-global-play-faq
Basically we paid twice for WoL in order to get something that is now a part of the base WoL package, so IMO we should get back that money in some fashion. Getting a free copy of HotS seems reasonable, since it was Blizzard being bad at making a game that caused the whole issue in the first place.
Clarification:
Based on current understanding, those with 1 copy of SC2 on an account will be able to play on any region and have one "character" per region. Those with multiple copies of SC2 on one account with be able to play on any region, and also only one one "character" per region.
Basically you paid for 2 copies of SC2, and they are taking one away, based on current understanding oh how it works.

I think we should just get an extra license and be able to open a new account on a different email. No need to get future games for free - lets not be too entitled.
|
That's like saying people who a game on release should get something because the people who waited 2 years for the game to lower in price got it 50% cheaper....
|
Although I did pay for multiple regions, I feel content without getting anything in return. I bought the clients on my own behalf and back then, we did not know that there would eventually be global play.
|
Now they are worthless sure, but for the past 2 years they haven't been :D
|
how are they worthless? now you get 2 or 3 accounts for each region...... and you only need to buy 1 copy of hots to get access on all your accounts by the look of it, if they are on same bnet account
"If you have more than one regional copy of Wings of Liberty and want to upgrade to Heart of the Swarm, you only need to upgrade one of them. The Heart of the Swarm upgrade applies to all regional versions of Wings of Liberty on your Battle.net account."
so you effectively get free copies of hots, stop bitching now pls!
|
You bought those copies knowing there's a possibility they'd add global play.
|
They shouldnt do anything lol.
That would be like giving everyone free upgrades to all previous purchases when a new model came out.
"You had to buy an additional lens with the camera you bought from us last year. Our new model comes with a newer lens...so you should get it for free since when you bought your old one years ago, it didnt, and thats not fair imo"
|
And if you got three accounts for 3 different servers, you also get Legacy of the Void I heard.
|
i use my korean account as a terran account and my european one as a protoss account.. so im fine.

Not really too much to ask for. Its absurd they didn't have global play to begin with, it was just a scheme to get money from people. So yes, they should do something to reimburse people
|
To be fair, noone forced you to buy more copies, so I dont think Blizz needs to give you free stuff.
|
I don't expect nor ask to get anything even if I own multiple SC2 clients. No one made me buy multiple copies and I got what I paid for.

I don't think your argument is reasonable. Try to find something to do with your extra accounts, you can still use them as smurf or off race along with your main account.

I honestly doubt Blizzard would hurt their game in the long run for a relatively marginal amount of money in a 2 year period.

Its not a conspiracy theory, it was a business strategy. I mean they had global support for Warcraft 3 (not sure about Starcraft, and Warcraft 2), so its really no excuse not to have it in Starcraft 2 from the beginning. Also how do you know its relatively marginal? You'd have to find the number of extra copies of WoL that were sold to people who bought them for the purpose of playing on other regions.

I have 2 regions under 1 b.net acct. With global play, even though there's still 2 acct linked, I can only login to one.

Ah, but you got something - you got another region play - at a time when others who only bought one copy couldn't get it. At that time that luxury was expensive. Now it's cheaper.
It's like getting an expensive PC that's now cheaper, and asking to get the new expensive PC for free, basically.
