Say he beats heart (which he should) and squirtle beats Sniper. Odds are that Sniper makes it to the final match and so if Naniwa can't beat squirtle in pvp then he probably won't make it. Given that Squirtle holds the ELO record for best PvP in the world, that won't be all that easy.

![]() The champion, Seed gets the first pick. Seed's strongest matchup is also PvZ at 64%, compared to his 56% against Terran and 48% against Protoss. Out of the zergs there is Suhosin, Life and Jaedong. Life is clearly the best Zerg out of these 3, and Jaedong is a bit of a wild card because he is training in two games, yet can potentially become very good if he focuses on SC2. Furthermore, there is not as much research material on JD because of his lack of games available to study. That leaves Suhosin who was clearly the weakest player in this list - barely scraping through Up and Downs yesterday thanks to Shine's win. This brings us to the runner up, MC. MC's strongest matchup is PvP at 65%, compared to 61% PvZ and 58% PvT. Out of the protoss he could have picked, there was Sun and Mana. Sun has been looking extremely strong lately in the OSL and WCS Korea, so that would be a silly choice. Mana would be a good choice, however PvP has always been a coinflip and would be considered dangerous. That left his second best matchup, PvZ. With Suhosin already picked, that left Jaedong and Life. Again Jaedong is a bit of a wild card, but I bet that MC was banking on the fact that JD isn't as experienced, as well as the glory of beating a broodwar legend. All in all, the 2 choices were both reasonable. Looking at the Terrans in tier 4 for a sec, Bomber is looking like he is picking up his pace again, so that would be a bad choice. Heart isn't bad and many of the iM players are saying that Yoda is on fire lately. But the most obvious thing is that both Seed and MC prefer other match ups over Terran.

Foreigners will be most interested in seeing JD, Naniwa and Mana and hope they all advance, but they are all in hard groups

Also, JD had been practicing a bit with MC. MC probably did pretty well against him in practice to pick him here. I haven't seen all of JD's SC2 ZvP, but in the games I can remember, he looked weak at it.
