They must stay impartial in everything that they write, and broadcast on both TV and radio. It would naturally be better than a commercial station like NBC.

That's not true. There are plenty of people who have no clue as to what an OSL/GSL is but if you mention the NFL/MLB or bring up popular events such as the Super Bowl, there's not a single hick out there who wouldn't at least perk up at the mention of the name. I don't like this whole "Korea is known for gaming" nonsense, just 'cause Koreans are doing well. Would you say "Koreans are known for SATs" because of the emphasis on getting 2400s? I didn't think so.

If you would've asked me about esports back when I was playing c64 & amiga games. I would've thought you were insane. I think in a few years esports is going to be mainstream. Meaning on regular TV with soccer, basketball & mma.
Now if blizzard would just smarten up and make regular full length movies about the sc/wow/diablo universes. I think it would happen a lot faster not to mention the money they would make.

how many american military services have a professional soccer or hockey team ? korea air force have a professional starcraft team ! so why bitching its "Not that big" guys even the military is playing it xD for me its 1-1 like tennis with just more fun to watch

Vibe getting the mad exposure. I like it.

I'm just happy the community got a pretty positive piece of spotlight in a mainstream publication. If the details in the article of how big esports or Starcraft is in Korea are wrong then it's something that the BBC, not us, should be concerned about.

Seriously, guys. Is there a thread on that Raleigh newspaper story? Didn't come up on search.
Someone answered me now in a PM. Thanks.

Thankyou the BBC for once again showing you can make a really good impartial look at a subject. Makes me really proud that we have the BBC in our country for being non biased when it comes to things <3

Lets look at the positives out of this! It gives great positive publicity about the pro gaming scene, which I personally am amazed the BBC would do considering there normal draconian right wing mentality. This was a refreshing watch for me as a regular BBC watcher.

BBC can be good but they can be biased and supid as hell too.

What? BBC is impartial/fair in basically all their coverage.
"Draconian right wing mentality"
Did you just learn this term and just HAD to use it to show us your intellect, regardless of it being correct or not?
OT: Like it or not guys, one day everyone reading this shall be a hipster, like/playing esports before it was cool.

SC2 is not popular here. I've only been here a few weeks and all I've ever talked about with Koreans regarding e-sports is Brood War pros..

Are you kidding? They have had left wing leanings for years now.
Anyway, a nice little vid from the beeb providing a snapshot of MLG and gaming without the usual editorial voice over that some producers like diluting their news/doc pieces with.

where is anna i didnt see her ? also who is the guy at 3:00 name, team and which game they play ?
|
It's sad that they picked this MLG, it looks so empty. No shots of massive crowds cheering or anything.
