Just one look at the audience or the average gamer and you will know e-sports won't ever be as big as the big sports. All the nerds in the audience make me cringe everytime

The question is, would these people be at mainstream sports events?

There's actually nothing attractive about football crowds, for example, either. They're full of fat men who like beer a little too much. Boxing crowds are incredibly nerdy. Unfortunately the stereotypes seem to damage gaming more than other sports.

At least there was no reporter giving his uninformed opinion on professional gaming.

Football crowds so often have a few too many racist homophobic cunts, it gets the sport some flack but it never denies it the mainstream.
Don't think anyone would imagine that ESPORTS will be as big as regular sports but it doesn't need to. It's a niche and we know it but that isn't a bad thing.

All soft focus and interesting angles, somebody at the bbc wanted to make this look good. All the women were shown doing professional jobs about the place instead of focusing on the promo girls too. Gotta love the beeb for this.

Shame its just webpage filler. If enough people hit it up though it'll stay in the most viewed. The exposure definitely can't hurt (unlike the CNN bs)!

Lately Esports is getting more publicity, so it is always great news!
Regarding the imbalance, hilarious to see Zergs defending themselves....

How about we stop bitching about minor info mistakes and be happy that it's not another one of those aricles like the CNN one or the one in the Raleigh newspaper?! Seriously, guys.

Thank you, finally someone that sees the point. Well done sir. Opposing the usual first page knitpicking people that TL has to offer.

Very cool. It's nice to see a UK news website covering esports.

Definitely this. Hopefully we will soon see some improvements in the UK media's attitude to eSports and gaming in general.

Any issues with the reporting are completely forgivable considering that this piece is leagues above the shit that CNN tried to sell as chocolate cake.

I find this report very very nicely done, you gotta love the BBC ♥

Here it is a Youtube mirror of the video, for those like me that can't see the vid in the bbc's player

I'm glad there's a positive article on esports :D more good exposure for us means it's more likely that there will be sponsors and stuff

That's more like it; completely unbiased documentary, getting the information first hand from the people who are involved and letting the viewers decide what they want to think of it.

+1000 BBC.

Very well made video. Glad to see e-sports getting more positive exposure from major media sources rather than just National Geographic or national channels in Korea.

But honestly, I doubt that the masses will swarm to e-sports. For example, out of 1800 people in my school, only 10 of us have an interest in e-sports and only 2 actually devoting ourselves to learning all about it.

Sports like American and European football, as well as the Superbowl is something at least half of the school tunes into.

A little growth is better than no growth. This is still all young. that's 10 people from one school, think about 100 or 1000 schools.
