However, it is probably the 4th largest sport, behind baseball, soccer and basketball. I feel like there is a relative gap then. Wresting is not close to being the 4th largest sport in America, but competitive gaming in Korea is (or so you/we assume). Under that pretext, wouldn't competitive gaming be better compared to something like hockey? On the other hand, you could argue that the gap between those 3 top sports in Korea (baseball, soccer, basketball) and the 4th largest sport (competitive gaming) is much bigger than the gap between something like Soccer and Wrestling in America.

A: How hard professional gamers actually work. It is NOT all fun and games, and B:How exhausting it is mentally to play Starcraft at a competitive level. Unlike LoL (*cough*) you pour everything you have into every game. It is really taxing.

If you're looking to give the e-sports culture more exposure from a new source, it's better to make it look like it's already accepted and loved by as many people as possible. Even if they figure out it's hugely false maybe the newly interested person already checked it out by that point and liked it. The average person cares too much about "how many people are into this?" That's something the companies looking to profit need to worry about, like MLG.

Also, they showed the casting desk from an angle I've never seen before. How amazing is the BBC. I've watched 5 MLGs or more and I never know how the casting desk looked.

There are plenty of people who have no clue as to what an OSL/GSL is but if you mention the NFL/MLB or bring up popular events such as the Super Bowl, there's not a single hick out there who wouldn't at least perk up at the mention of the name. I don't like this whole "Korea is known for gaming" nonsense, just 'cause Koreans are doing well. Would you say "Koreans are known for SATs" because of the emphasis on getting 2400s? I didn't think so.

"Draconian right wing mentality" Did you just learn this term and just HAD to use it to show us your intellect, regardless of it being correct or not? Anyway, a nice little vid from the beeb providing a snapshot of MLG and gaming without the usual editorial voice over that some producers like diluting their news/doc pieces with.

Football crowds so often have a few too many racist homophobic cunts, it gets the sport some flack but it never denies it the mainstream. Don't think anyone would imagine that ESPORTS will be as big as regular sports but it doesn't need to. It's a niche and we know it but that isn't a bad thing.

If enough people hit it up though it'll stay in the most viewed. The exposure definitely can't hurt (unlike the CNN bs)!

Very well made video. Glad to see e-sports getting more positive exposure from major media sources rather than just National Geographic or national channels in Korea. But honestly, I doubt that the masses will swarm to e-sports. For example, out of 1800 people in my school, only 10 of us have an interest in e-sports and only 2 actually devoting ourselves to learning all about it. Sports like American and European football, as well as the Superbowl is something at least half of the school tunes into. A little growth is better than no growth. This is still all young. that's 10 people from one school, think about 100 or 1000 schools.
