The thing people need to realize is that from ESF's point of view, KeSPA was boycotting GOM first.
If KeSPA said "you can try out for the GSL if you want" and most of the players said "nah I'm too busy with SPL/OSL, I'll pass" then there is no issue.
But no, KeSPA said "we are refusing players participation in the GSL [regardless of what they want to do]" even though most of them, in interviews, were really positive about trying out.
That is KeSPA boycotting GOM.
So ESF is simply saying "hey if you're gonna not let your players compete in the GOM league and are boycotting us, then we'll do the same back, have fun!" - Besides, it's not in support of the SC2's scene of freedom to play.

Good, hopefully kespa will stop being such dicks.
|
kespa vs GOM round 2 begins...
i dont even understand how they cooperate to promote sc2 in the 1st place.
|
i guess since there are 2 kespa players in each group they can just play matches for seeding or go directly into ro8 matches
|
I think this was called for. Kespa pull out of GSL, so GOMTV loses all the allure of the kespa players in their league. So if they keep the GSL players in OSL, OGN attract GOM fans, but GOM get nothing in return.
Basically, GOM didn't really have a choice, they have to do this if they want to hold their ground and not just get fucked over completely
|
Shit just got really serious man.. I don't like this at all, I don't understand, the sc2 korea scene is so fucking small and they want to kill each other already by trying to take a large chunk(Well, I assume, I could be wrong, i am probably).. Grow the scene first to big and successful one, we'll see what happens after..
Anyway, props to ESF standing against the big corporations associations, kespa

GOM =/= ESF. This is kind of important.
While KeSPA manages their teams and has a big hand in the OSL, GOM does not have any sort of authority over the ESF players. The ESF makes their decisions mostly independently of GOM, although I'd imagine they have a big interest in GOM's success in these matters.
What it means though is that you shouldn't auto-blame GOM for ESF's decisions.

ooh my god, why is this happening -,.- it really is bullshit and bad for sc2 in korea
|
Since this is the highest form of Esports drama to date I'll add something to it:
""You know what, FUCK kespa, FUCK ESF, tear them both down kick all people that are in respective organization and put some outsiders to lead this that are totally neutral, like hire some freaking eskimos or something.""
|
See, told you guys GOM was on the winning side this time around.
Unfortunately nobody wins from this situation.
|
wonder if oz is gonna pull out too
|
FUCK guys this scene is hanging by a thin thread as it is without a south korean civil war like this... -.- Just kiss and make up for ESPORTS
|
GG SC2 korean scene, well at least theres still Dota 2 and LoL scenes to watch.
|
Is GOM related to ESF in any way other than hosting the tournaments for their teams?
|
If I recall correctly, GomTV isnt a part of the ESF in any way, right?
That fact might be worth being added to the OP, since ESF players are often called "gom players" or "GSL players". But this decision was not done by GOM, but by the teams in the ESF. So no matter whether you like it or hate it, agree or disagree, dont blame GOM for it.

Props to ESF, let Kespa know they can't screw every1 over like they did in BW. Korean reaction is definitely favorable to eSF.
|
this is fucking stupid and just bad for everyone hopefully they both drop this crap...
|
I will call this here and now. GOM will not last long in a battle with KESPA. If this does last for any extended period of time, or if after this KESPA says fuck the no trade rule GOM will no longer exist. This was the worst decision GOM could have made they should have leaned on Blizzard to make KESPA share players instead they want to back and forth removing players from events, and in the end there are very few who aren't more intrigued by BW pros coming over, and soon enough they will snipe any half decent GOM talent.

Sounds like an understandable and smart move.
