No Data Mining. I read part of the replay and you enter your website link. This is information so yes its against the eula. So is open the sc2folder or installing the game. Also the eula do not allow you to start the game because windows collected information about every running program. the question is not is it against the eula or not because the eula is written in the way, that they can tell anything is against it, if they want. The question is do they ban you for using it. I cant tell you that they banned people for using chatprograms in the past. They did not ban streaming-tools that use the same memory-scan methods i use.
I can tell you that i dont modifier sc2 in any way, break no law of any country i know off and dont do anything that gives you an unfair game advantage. I can not say if you get banned for using it. I dont think so, and i dont see any reason why they would do that. However its your risk.
It does not even load the memory-reader if you disable it. But the TL Database, sc2gears . sc2-rankings , windows Explorer, ant this tool is against the EULA if you take it word for word. Its your call...

Yeah but sc2gears says you will never get banned for using it, how can they say that if it's against eula ?

You'll never get banned for using SC2gears it's true (because there's no modification or monitoring of the client itself), but skeldark has been very upfront about the risks in using his MMR plugin's RAM scanner. The plugin uses SC2gears as a dependency, yes, but the functions of SC2gears and the plugin are very different.

Skeldark, I have a tip (or suggestion) for the MAC users why Sc2gears might not pick up the plugin (meaning it's not listed in the Plugin manager).
It has nothing to do with the new version or the new plugin API version. I didn't change anything that would cause this. I think it's more likely the OS file permissions. They should check the user they start Sc2gears with and the extracted plugin file owners and the permissions on the files. Also does OS-X have some policy toward modified applications (modified in the process of an update) regarding containing it, blocking it or applying restrictions?

So the plugin does nothing different than sc2gears when it comes to "legality" if you don't activate the ram scanner option? the plugin is 100% legal! even if it break the eula it is legal. thats the wrong word with our without quotes. You missed my point. Sc2gears breaks the eula if you take it word by word Installing starcraft 2 breaks the sc2 EULA if you take it word by word That say nothing about this programs it say more about the eula....
If you dont take it word for word, even my ramscanner dont break it! Reading the ram of a other application is something normal in programming. I can not say: "blizzard will not ban you" I cant even say that for firefox. Perhaps blizzard one day will ban every one who install firefox! I cant know, i am not blizzard, so i cant make any promise. But its as logical from blizzard to ban my tool as it is for firefox. Here is how the tool interact:
-Looking at battelnet website -Take some few data out of the replay over sc2gears - If enabled = read the playername of your opponent out of the memory of your system
that all. If you are afraid that they will ban you for 1 or 2 just dont use it . I dont see any risk in all 3 points because i read the f++++ player name, that's it. But i know there are many people who are afraid and i know blizzard sometimes act not reasonable so it put last point in optional.
TLDR: can they ban you for the memoryscanner ?: yes can they ban you for disabled memoryscanner? : yes can they ban you because they dont like your face? : yes Is it reasonable at all for blizzard to ban for this? : No
i will write something for the faq for this topic

Maybe I'm very wrong but you use the memoryscanner to know the opponent name, but you also save the replay, isn't any way to know the opponent name from the last saved replay?

They fixed that bug on 1.5, that didn't allowed us to see anyone's division. So it was a bug indeed! =P
Btw, has any zerg noticed in the last beta build that the lava inject is somewhat different? I am not sure if it's an impression, I am becoming crazy or what, no one else noticed?
Edit: ah, it seems that last season I was t1 plat and not t2 as the plugin thought in the last updates, he did thought it was t1 on some plugin versions and that's explain why I wasn't in diamond in the beginning of this season! I was really close though =3
Next season I will get diamond for sure, I will wait till a solid win streak then stop playing lol
The plugin is awesome btw, I can't play without it anymore, it adds another level of fun for me

A is the algo that finds your tier. Your tier is important for your opponent mmr. It dont care for your own. My latest version use a different version of A. instead of calculating all possible tiers for you he use the information of F. So i calculate the opponent after you. Looks way better but im not sure yet. The new way say: platinum, artanis psi, T1 for you
3) thank you

Good! So it was just a missing feature that was not done yet. I was truly afraid as sometimes they seem to make odd decisions regarding the bnet.
On June 26 2012 12:16 SDream wrote:The plugin is awesome btw, I can't play without it anymore, it adds another level of fun for me Yes. The plugin has motivated also me to play more. As I have been 'stuck' in certain general level since season 1, even if I try to improve my game all the time, it is great to see how wildly the relative MMR level still may change over time. Better information on the recent progression motivates compared to the Blizzard's system where you always seem to be about the same, unless you get demoted/promoted, which happens rarely after you hit 'your personal cap' and your 'general level' is not near the league borders.

Cheers for getting on with the Mac version, I'll install it tonight and see if I can get it to work! I'll try to keep an eye on the thread for updates on the mac front...
Good effort on making this plug-in, and figuring-out the stats behind it, well done!

4.5 out Mostly intern stuff. New sourcecode on the website. Added user-id. Its an random number. But keep it private i perhaps use this later as authenticator.

The new way say: platinum, artanis psi, T1 for you
Where do you got this from, 4.5? This season I am pretty positive that I am at t2!
Player Alg.A: Gamecount: 16 Result:platinum,artanis psi, T2 (---) I like all games! Average difference between expected and calculated: 7.63 ------------------------------------------------------------ Player Alg.A After: Gamecount: 10 Result:platinum,artanis psi, T2 From 4.5

Yes is used 4.5 so if he say on both t2 now it should be correct New version upload bad games too

how can I set the dialog of the tool to not maximize every time I start Sc2gears?
I want a small dialog like it was before

Update: 1) hit 50k games today
2) with last version, many people who play on different servers and a lot of uploaded gamedata, i can make a statistic over: Skill diffrence of different server!
Searching for an awesome Background-Image! If you have one post it! Winning picture is the new standard background and the creator gets 100 I-famous Points!

That will definitely be VERY interesting! Realize what sort-of shitstorm you're going to create with that...
I tried it yesterday on my mac, installed the latest SC2gears and dowleaded the plugin, but indeed it doesn't show up. Even if you tell it to 'show non-working (or words to that effect) plugins', it doesn't show up.
Hopefully you can get to work for Mac, if you need help or screenshots, post it!

Is every MMR-stats-client calculating/guessing the player tiers based on locally collected data, or do you have some sort of global database with division tiers (based on division name)? I would think that if enough people use the client you would soon know the tier of most divisions, and there would be little or no guesswork involved. Until a new season starts at least.
This tool is most excellent, and I look forward to every weekend when I have time to play and see what happens to my MMR, but it still makes some wrong guesses it seems.
