I heard Koreans are pretty good at Sc2 too .. hmmm I wonder why ...maybe because it has the name of starcraft in front of the 2 ?. According to this http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/GOMTV_Global_Starcraft_II_League , the latest GSL is also won by a Korean 2012 Hot6iX Global StarCraft II League Season 1 which is DongRaeGu. So I don't think it's a matter of a 10 year old game that koreans are only good at, sc2 is already 2 years old and koreans are still the best players in sc2 . I think you misread that, he said that only the korean players are good at brood war. He didn't say that koreans are only good at brood war. When you state Koreans without being specific in which kind of koreans you are talking about it's easy to infer the way I did and It seems he type it that way just to get some nice reaction from the starcraft bw fan's. And you couldn't help taking the bait? By definition, you just got trolled. And no, it's not possible to read what he said the way you did.
LoL, I am on the internet what do I expect ? Not to get troll ? and it doesn't matter actually he has been talking about the natural evolution or inevitable transition must happen that only one game will rule the starcraft scene and not even considering that both can exist side by side . In other words this discussion is already derailing the thread and I am going to stop here .

Brood War is literally exclusively Korean, international companies understand how much more money they can make advertising with SC2.

This is easily the most retarded move of all time from KeSPA, which says a lot. This means that viewers are forced to watch a game they don’t enjoy. And whats worse, PL finals will be decided by players, playing a game one couldn’t care less about. Furthermore, this gives even less playtime for players, since they suddenly only play 50 % of the games. Horrible news

Wow when this goes down, i'll probably stop watching Proleague. All the Sc2 people saying, "OH FREAKING YES" should know that there will probably be a fee to watch proleague.

Was there a fee to watch proleague for BW?

Considering many people have already paid to watch HQ stream/VODs from Gom, I don't think that would really be an issue. But I still think there will be free low quality stream.

The hypocrisy and disrespect from a lot of sc2 fans is staggering.
You want Broodwar to die, even though most of you are trying to say it nicely, yet you want to be a part of the same system that built Broodwar into the mainstream sport it became in Korea and ride the coattails of it's success.
You are being incredibly disrespecful towards the people and companies that buildt the foundation for Broodwar and it's players that made it reach the general population.
If this is really what you want then sc2 dosen't deserve to be a part of ProLeague.
Obviously Kespa/OGN etc are free to do what they want. If sc2 is the only way to keep ProLeague alive then fine, do it, but mixing bw & sc2 is a bad idea. Separate sc2-league would be fine. Those who want to watch it and those who don't wont have to. Forcing it on the viewers will only make things worse.

"We decided that Blizzard dealing with KeSPA and OGN directly would be more beneficial for the growth and evolution of the eSports market" said a GomTV representative.
Most important line in the post, this is huge for the community to have GomTV be open to the promotion of SC2 and eSports in general even if it comes at the hands of some one else. SB Proleague is iconic, and to have SC2 included is absolutely HUGE for the future of the community. I think that regardless of their decisions regarding Brood War this is majorly great.
P.S. Lets leave the speculations to the officials who actually determine things, regardless of any decision rather it be by Blizzard, OGN, KeSPA, GomTV or anyone else; it surely will be for the good of eSports, thats their business. Lets' not blow up before there is anything more than speculative press releases. Agruing about stream prices is needless and laughable, the only reason you don't pay to watch the Superbowl is because Budweiser and Ford do it for you. Lets see how the chips fall.

It's unlikely they're doing it because of the Korean audience because in Korea BW has way more viewers. They don't seem to be doing this to get new sponsors, since SC2 is already degenerating into sponsors like Hot6 or Blizzard itself.
So they might as well milk the foreign SC2 scene.

The OGN LoL stream is free and in decent quality. Of course SC2 is a different game and all but do you base this off of anything?

Any proof for your sponsors statement?

But you're perfectly fine with all the BW guys coming in here telling us how SC2 is worthless and should die before BW does and how we're all stupid ignorant and jerks, right? Sorry man but respect is not a one way street, if you want the SC2 fans to be nice to you, you gotta be nice to them too. Just because you support the game that came first doesn't give you the right to shit on and verbally abuse everyone who plays and supports the game that came after.

When you don't respect a game, you don't respect those who play it, either.
And SC2 does not deserve my respect for being a spectacukar disappointment to the legendary game that this site was founded upon.

Well then logically should you be surprised when you get no respect back, with your attitude? And really that is such a flawed paradigm to have. That's like me saying "well, I don't respect american cars because they're low quality and break down often, so I will disrespect and shit on everyone who drives an american car."

Sony Erricsson into Pepsi into Hot6 into no sponsor announced yet. That's the equivalent of BW going from Coca-Cola OSL to Bacchus OSL - the difference is that the latter happened over a span of ten years. The sponsor for the current GSL season hasn't been announced yet, has it? We're constantly hearing about financial trouble of Korean SC2 teams (hence so many get bought out, sell their players or partner up with foreign teams), too.
There's no reason to think SC2 in Korea will attract sponsors like Pepsi for much longer.

Hot6ix is from the same company that produces Pepsi in Korea.

Oh about not respecting a game and not respecting the players who play it. It does make sense actually when I ask cs 1.6 players about what they think about cs source . They will tell me this all the time " too easy " and that gets me all mad because I am a source player . Do you think they respect me as a source player ? Nope not when they think that the game is sub par to the game they are playing .

I expected so much out of one game and it failed to deliver even 25% of that expection. Being so sorely disappointed like that tends to bring out the worst in me, and yes, I did not think that statement through.
I will say this, though: have you tried immersing yourself in BW? I have tried to immerse myself in SC2, over and over, even going to MLG Providence and barcrafts, but the whole time I was wishing I was watching BW, or even a better RTS than that. In fact, I ended up playing mafia on the MLG floor with fellow TLers who felt the same way.
Have you at least tried to tune into some PL broadcasts? English is no excuse since sayle rebroadcasts the matches in english.

After reading this thread I will love to see bw burn.

GSL usually announces sponsors at the start of Code S (tomorrow!) probably in case of any changes. It looks a lot better that way than saying they've got multiple sponsors and having them disappear. (Team 8, OSL)
