Made me sad too. They had this in BW and it was so helpful x.x

they're going to ration good UI until HOTS.

I'm confused as to what Blizzard is suggesting when they claim that we will have the ability to resize our chat window. The reason I'm confused is because I'm under the impression that this feature is already present. See below:

Perhaps I am entirely misunderstanding this feature (and please correct me if I am!), but this doesn't appear to be something new. The fact that the chat remains re-sized subsequent the completion of a game, however, is a lovely feature.

Weird that some people are saying they only care about balance patches when these changes could have a huge effect on the longevity of this game...

We’re also working on a feature that will help players connect with other players and games that are near their location (connecting through the same IP).

YES! YES! YES!

It took them 2 years to finally come through but this sounds like tournaments will be much more reliably connected, less internet issues, AND we get to use this LAN-like service at home!

I literally fist pumped in joy when I saw this.

YES! Blizzard you take time to get things done but when it happens you get it right! YES!

I think they're removing limits on maximum size.

Is this supposed to be some kind of LAN support?

hmm imo this is only to keep us, the rabid dogs we are, at bay. if you take a look at the proposed UI changes, it really does not address the lacking social aspect of bnet. Making chat windows bigger is not going to help...

Where is Clan Support. Where is replay with friends?

Perhaps it will be good and there will be more, but please friends we must continue to fight the good fight.

This is why I love Blizzard. People rant and rave about how **** they are but Blizz always seem to just drop these satisfaction bombs on us time and time again.

I can forgive them for moving slow as I can understand that they want to be as methodical as possible.

No one can really say for certain at this point but blizzard has adressed LAN numerous times in the past saying that it will in all likelyhood not be implemented for starcraft2.
If they were to change this, I don't they would call it connecting through IP, I think they'd hype the shit out of it and call it what it is, because we've asked for it for so long.

I expect this to be a find people without character codes that are on the same connection/area.

Like at a pc cafe or a dorm complex, you can see others playing sc2 that you wouldn't have otherwise known about.

for all the millions we give blizzard you think they'd have more than 1 person patching starcraft 2 at a time. at least, i'm guessing it's a 1 person team as that's what diablo 2 was given, and it shows. this is stuff that should have been done in the first patch and does nothing to fix the lack of social aspects. give us chat rooms that everyone auto joins, moderators, private channels, pictures like heat.net/mplayer and voice chat should be a lot easier to use, especially in the groups.

Don't get too excited, I think it just enables you to search for games via IP addresss.

Agreed, it doesn't sound like any sort of lan, just a quicker way to set things up for major tournaments I suppose. This patch doesn't seem all that big to me. I really woulda liked to see Multiple-Observer Replay support while they were on this topic. I mean jazzing things up won't hurt ofc, but they still didn't address LAN support, clan tags and Multi-view Replays.

Yeah agreed, the multi-view replay thing in particular is a big deal for me. I still don't understand why we don't have that.

The only thing that's missing are watching replays with other people and wc3 like tournaments. Awesome news, though
