Is it just going to make tournaments slightly easier to run because they won't need peoples ID's and char codes, or can we expect to be able to set up LAN games through BNet. I'm hoping we get some sort of faux LAN where you have to be connecting to BNet to set up the game but the actual real time game data is sent over LAN to eliminate lag. This is exactly what I was just thinking, and I really really hope that that is the way it's set up. I'm not sure how easy something like that being built into the game would be to get around, or how easily someone could write a work-around. I hope they find a way to make it secure and just implement it in that fashion.

Do you see any indication of whether there will or will not be balance changes in 1.5? Your comment is irrelevant and unnecessary. Let us know what topics you’d like us to cover in future Developer Updates in the forum discussion thread. Topics that we’re thinking of covering include: Game Balance There will most likely be some balance changes as well. Maybe even more in preparation for HotS.

Seriously, the major issues are the following: - Clan Support - LAN Support - Sharing/Watching replays online - Lack of real statistics The other stuff is just filler.. garbage.. who cares? Seriously, when are they going to put in some real fixes? I am shocked at the amount of people excited about this patch. I think your not really viewing it in a brighter light. While these things are still lacking, and these things aren't exactly the greatest updates for a 'big' patch, it's a step in the right direction. As for saying all of it is garbage, I'm sure there a number of people who enjoy the fact that they make maps and be seen rather than just the top custom maps on the top all of the time. I think its better to see it as, Blizzard is finally taking steps to change things. While we might not get what we want right away, we can hopefully see this as Blizzard listening to the community. I think this is a great step ever since they did allow TL to hold that map tourney thing and add those maps into the ladder pool in the newest season.

That's fine, I'm not saying at all that there won't be balance changes in 1.5. All I'm saying is that there is no indication of whether or not there is going to be, and if there is, they haven't given any previews toward it yet so there is no reason for him to bitch about a lack of terran buffs; If there isn't, then there is no reason for him to bitch about a lack of terran buffs in a non balance patch. So either way, whether they have balance changes in 1.5 or not, my points stands: there is no indication of what balance changes, if any, will take place, therefor complaining about the subject is both irrelevant and unnecessary.

We believe this will primarily be used by people in internet gaming rooms, offices, dorm rooms, and local tournaments where you just want to find the guy sitting in the desk next to you. Although this may not be ready in time for the release of patch 1.5, we do intend to have this available by the time Heart of the Swarm ships. Sure its not quite LAN but it sounds a lot better than what we have now.

Resizable chat windows? Not the most amazing tool.

LAN incoming. I think I am not alone when I say this but... Hell, It's about time. <edit> To make it clearer, it is LAN essentially for what SC2 needs. Local connections, which should finally fix the issues that happens in a lot of tournaments. ofc it's not the 'LAN-for-pirating' LAN, but it is LAN.

I'll be excited when they follow up with these changes with something actually good. Being able to resize windows... really? That's putting the absolute minimal amount of effort into trying to improve it. Resizing windows...... that's probably just them flipping 1 bit in the client code. I'm just hoping they actually do something substantial later and not just do this one tiny thing to make it sound like they care.

They never say the connection will be local, only that you will be able to find games with people on your local network without having to add them to your friends list, this is likely a bigger deal in korea where you can go to a PC bang and attempt to find games, but those games will still be played on Bnet, don't get your hopes too high.
