Toooootally agree with this. Even if it is just for cheese, you can't have epic pro cannon rushing like that one guy who cannon rushed to masters without it. It's also just generally useful for strats that need reinforcments early.

Bears repeating that this is a year old thread, we still don't know if this change is going through and it may have been to accommodate the "warp a free canon in anywhere" nexus ability that was in the previous build as they haven't patched it into WoL. I'm interested to see if it's still in the game as well because it's an interesting change, I worry that it will hit canon rushes too hard though.

I don't think you can actually get that ability out in time. From what I remember from the Battle Report, you need to have either a gateway or a cybernetics core to get one... and even then you have to save energy to get the cannon ability. Cannon rushes will hit way before then.

it's no longer in the current build, it's been replaced by the mothership core's purify which is limited to the nexus.

hmm i dont really see why this was a problem anyway? it just seems to remove some cheeses like cannon rush, but the low-hi ground warp in with obs/air/hallucinated units was fun to do and watch. i get the 4gate v 4gate thing but if your control and scouting was good you should be able to kill off the pylon before it warps in anything. At least thats what everyone seems to be able to do to me when i try this

I dont see the big deal. The all ins using this dont work anymore anyways and werent good for the game. I hope it actually stays gone

Removing this makes it a lot harder for Protoss players to punish greedy openers. A lot harder. I strongly oppose this change unless there is some early game buff for Protoss to compensate.

I'm pretty sure you only need a nexus to make the mothership core. So, gas, mcore. Which everyone should get asap every game due to the massive benefits as an energy bank for mass chrono, or recall, or crazy strong defense.

Look at tal'darim in PvP. 1 player 4 gates 'casue that's what you do on TA' and the other guy fast expands and drops an M-core on his expo, mostly walls off the main. see the 4 gate coming, seal the main with a gateway, activate the purifyer, warp in units. That 4 gate is dead in the water. Range 13, 60dmg, 1.3 fire rate. just an m-core and decent probe micro should hold it.

Warping in to high ground has a lot of potential and is very useful in a lot of situations. To remove it simply reduces available strategies which I don't think Blizzard wants. I mean this would kill 3 gate pressure builds to some extent as well and those are super fun to watch PvP.

I disagree with the change completely but if it absolutely must go through, go half and half on it. Let pylons warp in on the low ground but not high ground. Or vice versa; pick whichever is better.

But yeah, this is just flat out stripping tactics from the game and making it more bland for the 22 range tempest design.

It probably due to them trying to make mech more viable. Pretty impossible to go mech right away and be safe from all opening. With the possibility of warpign on the high ground gone, alot of all-in are eliminated which make mech opening more safe.
I may not be the best, but i will be some day...
