Clearly this is an assimilated scourge, and the previous zerg unit was an infested reaver!

It's also possible that this is a ground unit, though it seems rather unlikely. Imagine if you removed the glowy ball from the sentry it would look similar in shape.

hmm all of these units look like mixes of units we already have.... hopefully this is the protoss "raider" that browder said we needed, but its an air unit lol... and we already have a phoenix for that mostly =/

Airborn spellcaster, IMO. With an AoE spell so that it isn't countered by Marine's like every other air unit Protoss can make is.

I really hope it doesn't replace the Phoenix.

I voted for the harass unit, but i really think that niche can be adequately filled with Phoenix and Warp Prism especially once the latter is explored further.

I'm now leaning toward an air caster. There's a number of things it could do. I look at the Shield Battery, Faerie Dragon and the Obsidian Statue from WC3 and i can see this unit filling a number of funky role for Protoss.

edit: bad habit of mixing up warp prism and void ray lately

I'm kind of disappointed at the new units.. They all look... Pretty bad.
The terran one looks like it's a member in the band Syndrome of a Down, the zerg one admittedly has some potential, and the protoss one looks like a boomerang for christ sake.

And no it wouldn't overlap the phoenix and void role, phonex will still be map control and a little harass on the side, and anti air light

Void ray will be strong late game DPS unit or good at early game push to bust a defense or to even do some harass or damage to ground units, though not much, but also it is important to note that void is quite mineral heavy for a high tech unit (same min;gas ratio as a stalker), so is a sort of mineral dump for air style (they will be massing nexus/canon to expand too as mineral dump)

This new one will fly around, probably not that fast (it will be for harass so it can't be like 4 speed lol, probably like stalker speed and then like really slow when the laser/storm shoots), do lots of AOE damage to lots of weak ground units (bio, specifically marines and also hydras)

That way you can go air since you can deal with mass anti air like marines and hydras

I love how you somehow know what they actually look like already. Judging them based on a shadow is just idiotic. I think the protoss one looks pretty exciting personally.

I think it will replace the carrier or the mothership.

That the carrier and mothership don't work well in unison is something that doesn't make sense from a design standpoint, and I think this unit will alleviate that.

I hope it's a replacement for the carrier, personally.
