Yes, Blizzard should have LAN support for live tourneys, but the games still couldn't be streamed so it doesn't make a great deal of difference - people wouldn't want to watch recorded games as much anyway.

But at least the games would of been played, it must be incredibly fustrating for the players who have travelled all the way from different parts of the world (I heard Idra forfeited his games becuase he was incredibly tired coming back from china). only to be sitting around the casino not knowing if they are going to be playing or not. If they did have lan they could of played the games and been seeded without issue (Not sure if the open bracket was affected it seems to have been played out) IPL have done the best they possibly could and so did comcast by the looks of things so they are not to blame. Blizzard have really screwed this tournament over first with the IP black listing and then by having no lan, I'd like to hope they would learn from this but of course they won't.

To be honest I was actually more interested in watching the backstage stuff as I wasn't too interest in pool play anyway and i'm glad and very greatul to ign for providing those backstage streams. They had the pool play for extra content and most players were not going to show there shining builds or strategies.

I don't see how so many people keep saying this while missing a very obvious fact. Streams can be done over bad wireless (satellite, 3G, 4G, whatever) backup lines that have high latency, the games themselves cannot be played with high latency. If Blizzard gave tournaments LAN play like they promised A YEAR AGO (not for everyone, just for the pro LAN's) then the LAN's would be able to play with low latency and stream over their high latency backup connections when circumstances like this happen. And if for some reason the backup lines couldn't handle streaming either then they could still play the games on LAN and physically take the replays to a nearby location with a connection that could handle streaming or send them to offsite backup casters. IPL3 has had two cases of terribly bad luck that both could have been avoided if Blizzard gave them LAN play. The first one with Blizzard blacklisting them was terribly stupid of Blizzard and was baffling how long it took Blizzard to fix it. Keep on trucking IGN and please lay it into Blizzard hard about this bullshit that they've caused.

I'm okay with your argument, that lan support hadn't saved that day of the event. But isn't there although a problem with heavy lags due to gaming. Meeting at a Lan, then both players connecting to bnet with observer might cause more problems then just lan+stream. Or am i wrong? EDIT: phuzi0n answered my question while i was writing my post

They had backup lines that they used to stream, the problem was that there was high latency on the backup line so they had to limit the number of players that were playing. That could have been fixed by having LAN play! Even if they only had LAN and absolutely no internet in the entire state then it would still be better to play the games on LAN and broadcast replays later than to have all those people pay to fly out to the LAN and not play at all.
