Response to viewer feedback - check Updating audience on problems - check Keeping Players happy - check Production quality - check Not being a general all round douche about everything - mega big check!
I love you IPL. I hope Season 2 for NASL is better but to be honest, haven't been watching their streams with the lack of top Korean pros to keep it interesting.
Shitload more capital and available infrastructure from an already successful media empire? Check.
Comparing NASL to IGN is like comparing a TIME Warner side project to a one-year old start-up magazine. It's not going to be fair.
IGN is doing a great job, but frankly I hold them to different standards. Hope NASL is able to survive their growing pains.

And this is great news! Like JP said in SOTG, the guys at MLG want IPL to be better so that they have something to strive for. The more competition they have the better the events will be for the players, fans, etc. This can only be a great thing for eSports in general.

Sad to see this happen after being blacklisted yesterday. Seems that you are really taking the right steps but the SC2 gods aren't playing nicely.

Very big props to the team at IPL. Keeping us updated on what is happening and keeping the players happy is important to them. Love the games so far and how you've handled it!

You guys are handling this so professionally.. well done. tragic for such an event to ruin IPL though

Don't blame the world for having truck drivers that smash into important network nodes. Internet is and forever will be unreliable and there is no one else to blame than Blizzard for not supporting LAN play. In my opinion this creates an intolerable liability for major LAN events.

Even if there were lan, there'd be no way to stream the games except for a camera in the audience looking at the screen and broadcasting over 3G. True, the tournament could have continued, but eh. Internet is internet.
I'm waiting for a power outage to hit one of these lans. That would truly shut things down.

No offense, as much as bad as this sounds, welcome to New Jersey, no less Atlantic City. Board walk isn't the only place around the neighborhood: after you leave the boardwalk, welcome to the ghettos. Pray you don't get targeted by hoodlums.
It's sad, but honestly as a NJ resident, "it is what it is."

its ok and thats the right choice to do, i rather the players have fair and good time playing rather than just having us watch the lower quality games (due to lag) and be able to watch the matches
hopefully not too many people are too disappointed about this, like planning to have stayed up late or etc.
Also, i wonder if the guy who drove the truck was an esports hater... xD

I wonder if that person who hit the pole knows what he did, lol!
Also, what about the people going to the IPL? Will they have to return home since they didn't lodge past the original times?
|
You should be glad you only lost internet. Charlie, Dennis, and Dee saw two homeless men loving it strong. What I'm saying is, worse things have happened in AC.
What I saw of the tournament was great, bought prime to support.

Thank you for the update, and managing in such chaos, way to keep your cool and just get through it.

Sabotage!
Now the only question remaining is "who?"

Some local hoodlums being drunk or high. Typical NJ slum shenanigans.

You guys did a great job at keeping people informed, even went out of your way to send Lani to the "crime scene". I was really impressed by that.
Other than that I think the weakest link as far as production was the sound.
The volume was always too damn low or the game sounds too quiet compared to the casters while the booth microphones kept us VERY well informed of the players apm (and by that i mean they were really fucking loud). But the biggest gripe was that the audio balance for channel 1 was shifted to the left for 2 days until it got fixed during the last matches of day 2. It was really annoying constantly having to adjust the windows controls for individual speakers when swaping streams. It might not be as notable with speakers but it was badddd with headphones.

Of all I have seen of this tournament (and do not hold this comparable to DreamHack - I remember the times where they had serious problem with their Quake-Live servers and the whole tournament was delayed of that - same as with with Battle.net 2.0), the content of the streams, even the 'down-time' covered with some mobile phone connections, was way over my expectations. You got such an amazing crew working for it. Still the best tournament so far. Alll others come cheap.
Keep it up, please!
You set new standards. (And don't listen to some #DreamHack banter, you are way better)

Thanks for keeping the community informed. I feel IPL is improving and will grow to be an even better organizer of tournaments in the future.
