Looks like a hellion in Walker form. I swear to god, if they give Terran a bio unit with splash damage that morphs into the fastest thing on the ground and gets healed by medevacs, I will loose my mind. This made me lol so hard xD. But if this is true, then they will add equally epic stuff to Protoss and zerg :D well i mean they should and probably would. Anyway looking back yea there's wheels at the feet definitely looks like a hellion that transforms. But for what purpose? hm Perhaps it will be a vulture, and morph into this walker form it would use the flamethrower and serve like a hellion? | ||

The shields would be for side armor plating when in wheel form, and maybe have some kind of armament for biped mode. Also, open the original picture in paint or something, and just mess with the brightness + contrast. Helps show some more lines. In response to the below post: I think this might replace the Hellion altogether, now. Wheel mode for moving quickly with line AOE, but biped mode to do some sort of widespread AOE. Think of it like a robot or something, doing a sweeping arc. Remember Dragon Tanks from C&C: Generals? Firestorm? Something like that while in biped mode. Also, I predict bipedal speed of 2.25. Just saying. | ||

Lets attempt to divine what its combat role will be. First we need to note that the balancing team has consistently balanced in such a way so as to minimize overlap in units combat roles (i.e. rebalancing the thor in early beta to more of an assault unit so it didn't crowd into siege tank territory). That done, lets ask some questions: Q: Does terran need any type of anti air? A: No, marines + vikings + thors more than cover this area. Q: is this a harass unit? A: most likely not, the hellion already does this (along with reaper/banshee/drops), and it seems silly that walking would give it more mobility or other harass potential. Q: Assault unit? A: most likely not, marauders accomplish this in the early game, while thors fill their niche nicely. In addition, current Terran units already have a complement of dmg to light and armored, so it will most likely not serve a direct combat role. (EDIT: though see below) Q: What about positional control? A: Siege Tanks do this to an extent, though there is currently little in the way of positional control for bio compositions. Since we've established what it isn't, what is left seems to be a fairly narrow range of support and/or short-mid range positional control. So either it gives a small area affect buff/debuff, or it transforms, sacrificing mobility for larger radius splash? Possibly more like a firebat, or a wide area flame turret. Don't think its a meat-shield, since hellions are pretty lightly armored.... thoughts? | ||

my guess is it is an upgraded firebat with a shield allowing it to tank better, and a single flamethrower adapted from the hellion for personal use. The top bit is pure cosmetic (or a camera so the person can see above shield/ flames) Just for those wondering, the unit we're teasing in this image is planned to be a new multiplayer unit. Stay tuned for more mysterious pictures of new Heart of the Swarm multiplayer units! So there is a possibility that this unit won't even be in muliplayer, much like the diamondback >_< + Show Spoiler + When you look at it closly, the two circle things on its shoulder looks like wheel and the same could be said at its ankles. The 2 "shields" could be the hood of the hellion split apart and the top bit is obviously the flamethrower. Maybe the terrans adapted the viking technology to a hellion. Or maybe i should just step away from the computer and go to sleep. | ||
