Pretty much. At least Star Nation always advertised a 2013 release IIRC.

Actually, we were in pre-production before any of the other announced films, and started filming months before we announced the project, but for some reason that keeps getting forgotten. Not that it matters because it isn't a race, and our topics are actually more different than people realize. Our take is very different from what I know of Sons of Starcraft, and I think they will both be great films.
As for the release date, I admit there have been unforseen complications and I had to delay the release, which I've addressed in posts before. But I've had some pretty rough medical issues over the last year, among many other things both related to the film and personal/family stuff. When I first advertised the release window, I did it after consulting the post production team, and they agreed to the schedule. That team is no longer with the project and we had to bring on a new editor who has agreed to a very ambitious schedule in order to get the film to the fans as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality, because I refuse to release a rushed and substandard film. If it isn't good enough then we will take the time to make it good enough. I don't think the fans would want anything less than our best.

Sorry...

How long has it been now? Well over a year? Lessons surely learned, there can be no more excuses.
I hope this motivates.

We certainly understand EG's and your desire for a high quality product, especially given their outstanding reputation when it comes to anything involving PR. I'll have to try and hunt down the posts you've mentioned and hope to see the film sometime before June if I'm lucky :D

well ain't that just the shittiest way to try and motivate anyone. did you really think that would come off as "motivation" and not of you looking like an entitled 'person' on the internet? you haven't spent any money on this film I'm sure, so telling the guy who will provide you free content to hurry the hell up doesn't really make you look good. and if you've spent money on it, I'm sure there are better ways to convey such a message in a nonpublic form.

Wait did this eve come out?

I mean technically he is right, from a completely business mindframe, removing the human side of things for a moment, when there is a deadline for something a business is trying to release, they meet that deadline..though, health issues and consideration for things like that is where the human element comes into things lol

And since there is always a "human element" in everything we do and feel entitled to, there is no sense in argueing without it.

Laughable excuses after laughable excuses.
Poor form, another swindle executed to perfection by opportunistic people holding camcorders, ripping off the unwashed masses.

This would be true if they "stuck to their schedule" and released a crappy unfinished product. Personally, I appreciate the dedication to quality because the quantity of content is not what is lacking in the eSports community, it is the quality of the content which is lacking.
I'm definitely looking forward to this and have been excited about it for a while. It would be really awesome if we could be kept updated in the upcoming months leading up to the completion of this project! =)

I will try my best to keep up with updating people. The good news is our fantastic webmaster has updated our website so that it works again now, with a new CMS to make it easier for me to keep it up to date. But I do know that March is going to be pretty rough for me (I'm not out of the woods with the medical stuff I mentioned and it's all sort of coming together in a month of annoyances) so I apologize in advance if it takes me some time to get back in the swing of things.
The other good news is that I _just_ got an email with a new cut of sequences from Henry, our new editor, so I'm just about to sit down and watch that. He's really been amazing. One of my favorite things about working with him is how quickly he came to both understand my vision of what I wanted the film to be, and to contribute his own unique point of view. One of the reasons that I don't edit my films on my own is that having another viewpoint makes the film better for an audience. As a director, I get too involved with the footage and with the people, and I no longer have the objectivity needed. What I see sitting next to the camera conducting the interview isn't what the camera sees. I was told once by a festival director that any time he sees that the director wrote, directed, and edited a film he immediately thinks that it will be terrible and that he's almost always right. As someone who has helped screen films for festivals, I can say that really does hold up.
Henry has been a breath of fresh air, but more than that he really _cares_ and I couldn't ask for more. But I should stop bragging about him and actually watch this cut to send him notes.

Hey ... I remember a documentary made by TL one time... that went over "well".
Even with actors I don't think it's worth watching.

Even with actors I don't think it's worth watching. Because as we all know, two different documentaries made by two different people will ALWAYS be the same in terms of quality.

You're right.... if anything I'd expect EG's to be worse.

This wouldn't even be true if they would have been done by the same guy.

This seems like a good time to reiterate something that is frequently getting lost in the chatter about the film: EG are our subjects in the film and they allowed us to interview them/film them. They have no involvement in the funding nor do they have any creative control. Which means right out of the gate it's an entirely different breed of project than Liquid Rising*.
This is a Nine Hour Films project only, as of right now there are no other production partners and the only person with any final say on it is me, though I am always taking other opinions into account including those of the fans.
*I want to make sure it's understood that I am NOT disparaging Liquid Rising. My statement is just that the two projects have different origins and different goals, which results in different types of film. I am in no way making any comment about quality/which is better. There are many, many different types of films and documentaries and they all have their own pros and cons.
