It's unrealistic. No one likes commercials. They're loud, obnoxious, and usually have music we don't like, or really stupid sales pitches none of us like the wording of. But for this event, even the most stubborn commercial hater should deactivate their ad blockers.

No, no, I understand it's not realistic, but I mean in theory that would be ideal, given that they seem to have embraced and fostered SC2 streaming and gaming streaming in general.

Using adblock while watching your favourite streamer hurts them more then you could imagine. If you're actively watching a steram, you can afford to get hear first second of an ad and click 1 button to mute it then alt+tab to read up or do something. Using adblock literally KILLS the reason streamers show advertisements in the first place...
The more people that use adblock, the less justin-tv etc will be inclined to run charities like this (I mean... the expected outcome will probably be at least 20k to match). But all using adblock shows is that you'd rather never see pro streamers who could use the income (which is why they run the ads) stream again.

I generally run an adblocker, but I have it deactivated on teamliquid.net, justin.tv, twitch.tv, and other websites I like and visit often.
Yeah, ads are annoying, but I'd be more annoyed if the websites I like to visit or streamers I watch couldn't afford to do what they're doing anymore.

Great job so far! keep up the fantastic donations and support!

I remember reading a post somewhere by this guy who said he selectively deactivated adblock for individual streams after deciding whether or not they were worth supporting. He apparently did not realize that by watching the stream he was implicitly validating its worth to him, which struck me as seeming excessively entitled for a consumer in his position. DO NOT BE LIKE HIM.
Disable the adblock, watch the commercial. Is thirty seconds of your time really that valuable when you are already spending it watching a progamer get ready to queue up on ladder again?

I often go a step further. If I enjoyed a specific streaming session, when it begins to wind down and come to an end I will F5 a few times to throw in a few extra commercials.

This question can only be answered by the viewer. And to me, yes it is. Thankfully I have a choice.

It's not even 30 seconds of your own time. It's 30 seconds that you would have otherwise spent listening to the streamer talk in between games.

Just to support this, I went on Sheth's stream for 10 minutes refreshing the page after each ad

and demanding money for playing from your audience while you already receive a salary and winnings isnt being an entitled brat right? your point doesnt even make sense, it could hold value to him without being worth money. he can take it or leave it, but if its free he might keep it open for 10 minutes.
this whole conversation isnt even relevant to the subject. people should just concentrate on having a good time. some people will donate by watching ads, some will donate to charity in their own way. some people wont donate at all. but thats cool, because if it wasnt optional it wouldnt be charity, would it?

You have no idea how much these people make salary, and only a very few amount of people make money from winning tournaments. 64 player tourney, how many take top 3?............... 3! That means out of 64 pros only 3 get paid, and only 1 gets paid well. If you don't think these players deserve ad revenue you should probably just get the fuck off teamliquid and never watch progamers again because you are hurting the community by taking up bandwidth and not helping to pay for it.

Lets stop talking about adblockers and go back to talking about what a great job steven and sheth are doing. Almost at $20k, jesus that is a huge donation.

There are just so many things wrong with this in every way that I don't even want to go through listing them all.

OK wtf I don't get it. Just because these "doctors" love stupid Border's bookstores and are uncomfortable that they are closing everyone is just donating money to them? Haven't these Dr.'s ever heard of Barnes and Noble? I thought Doctors were smart...

Wow Destiny gets so many viewers, almost 3-4x more than Sheth has had all day.
Great cause, good effort Sheth & Destiny

you never actually finished your point about salary 3 get paid? wrong i dont think they deserve anything. streaming even for free helps develop their name and team sponsors, its worth the massive effort of opening a program when they ladder.

I have a question regarding adblock, I have it on but have http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/Liquid`Sheth and actually teamliquid.net in general as an exception, but I still don't get any ads. Is getting ads at all country-specific or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, some are area specific (for justin.tv anyway)
