It's the Koreans' loss, and it's a pity they don't wish to work harder on an international level.

I've also talked to FXO. I am waiting for responses. I'm sure the Koreans will post their side of the story sometime tonight or tomorrow, and we'd be glad to respond to that as well. We were a bit forced to act today unfortunately due to someone leaking this information publicly... okay, hope you will announce the missing information in a new thread, the op or on twitter. Really waiting for this information ![]() And Xeris, i am not sure if i am failing now, but as i know none of the coL-MVP-players is in the NASL Season 2? Only DRG and Genius are playing for coL and MVP as well, both are not in the NASL?

Just because he doesn't like one of the extremes of the argument doesn't mean he is automatically at the other end. It shouldn't be one side versus the other, we are a whole community and some of the posts in this thread are very disheartening

You can have as many amazing players in korea that you want but if they only have 1 big competition, no upcoming events other than that one and they refuse to be part of the rest of the worlds events then their scene won't grow. Just because we enjoy watching them doesn't mean they are going to be picking up sponsors outside of korea if they refuse to leave. Then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. ![]() From everything I've seen by following Korean BW and keeping an eye on some e-sport attempts in the west, I have to say that right now I'm nearly convinced that you can't build e-sports with money. Money, show and sponsorships can come into it when you already have an intense level of competition, passion and following and when you have players demonstrating skill that the audience can really appreciate. Speaking of sponsors, while I can agree with your statement, have you also considered that without interest and without a sufficiently high level of competition, western sponsors may soon no longer be interested in western tournaments either? Foreign scene does not justify $20k+ prize pool tournaments in the long run. On the other hand, whether SC2 grows in Korea is mostly up to Korea. They're pretty much an e-sport country (as much as a country can be), so if the game is pushed through the right channels there's plenty of sponsorship money to go around within Korea. It's not the lack of western sponsors that slowed down the growth of SC2 in Korea, it was mostly the internal factors (and Blizzard).

Alright, if it doesn't cost over $2000 why wouldn't NASL agree to pay 100%?

I just looked up a round trip flight over a weekend from Seoul to LA and it's $2100 per person just for the plane tickets They know it more in advance than that, thus tickets are cheaper, TL manager and NASL already said in this thread that ticket is 1200.

I don't think you're very familiar with making travel arrangements in the professional world. Tickets on Expedia for United Airlines from Seoul to LAX with one stop in Tokyo one month from now cost ~$1100 round trip. Look it up yourself if you want; I used the dates September 7 and returning September 12. Given that they have about a 1-month notice that seems fair. Plus, that's about what NASL *actually* paid to fly the Koreans out last time (posted earlier in the thread).

Using Kayak.com I get ~$1500 round trip Seoul to LAX. ~$1230 for LAX to Seoul. Interesting that the costs are significantly different.

Everyone seems to be "I wanna see high level shit not these sucky foreigners" well then watch the damn GSL/GSTL and MLG. It's all Koreans. Watch streams. Jesus it's not like you have nowhere to watch it. This is good. It gives foreigners a chance to make a name for themselves.

Don´t know when they are booking and so on, but you CAN get a ticket to LA from Korea for less than 1.000 US-Dollar. I would wonder SO MUCH if they have to pay more than 1.500 US-Dollar for a ticket. Me from Germany, i don´t pay partly so much for an ticket to LA and (if am not an total jerk) not really more near to California than Seoul is.

That being said, I don´t think people are seeing this through the korean POV. In NASL season 2 a lot of Koreans qualified(really, to the extent that people were calling NASL S2 GSL lite) so there is a possibility of a Team having to send 2-3 or even more players to the finals which that being planes, food, and accomodation(travelling is not exactly cheap) I can see why some teams can´t afford that. Sure some of the major stars like MC and MKP could afford to pay for it themeselves but this is more of a team effort by all the koreans so that ¨everybody can go or nobody goes¨ which IMO is reasonable. I don´t agree with the decision but I can see where they are probably coming from, and if this was GOM or the SC2con not wanting the koreans to participate on other tourneys this would have had happened since day 1. I mean I don´t like this, but lets be reasonable human beings as i see that the ¨killing e sports¨ card has been thrown already ITT. of course I could be wrong but at least lets give the koreans the benefit of the doubt. NASL could still do fine by marketing itself as the premier foreign team(as many people apparently want foreigner exclusive tourneys which IMHO is stupid but whatev.). Hopefully this can be sorted out by the time NASL 3 hits. GL guys
