The costs vary significantly depending on the time of year. It's ~1100-1600 depending.

Let's see some sources to your claim. Otherwise, what you're spouting is just pure BS. While we're at it, let's also say the moon landing is a government conspiracy and 9-11 is an inside job. Why the hell not?

tbh good for the Koreans for sticking to their guns.

Has anyone here auctally tried to caculate the cost of a 1 week trip to cali from seoul and back. its damn expensive. Being almost 3k with hotel and airfare and such. For the chance at $500, which would still lose them $500 if NASL paid 2k.

I can understand why the teams would do this tbh. They are not in a healthy state in Korea and of course they would want people to pay, since they can't temselves.

I can answer this question. We paid for Korean players to come to NASL Season 1. We bought tickets for MC, PuMa, Zenio, and Squirtle. We paid $1,192 for each ticket. The hotel cost was $353 for the entire event. Travel cost was about $80 per person (shuttle service to and from). This averages out about $1650, factoring in meals ($50 per day even) ... giving each player $2,000 should cover that.

$1,192 for a ticket is just one way though, right? Round trip is usually almost $3,000.

So $2,000 wouldn't nearly be enough.

Nope -- $1,192 round trip.

Alright, if it doesn't cost over $2000 why wouldn't NASL agree to pay 100%?

they agreed to pay $2000 ($1000 stipend; $1000 guaranteed prize money). what are you smoking?

If you read the OP, it says the Korean demands were for NASL to pay 100% of travel stipends, which NASL didn't agree to.

to be honest this will probably make me not bother watching nasl. i honestly don' t care to go from beautiful play in the GSL to mistake-fests of foreign players. i wish sc2con wasn't being so stupid.

I feel like there's something fishy going on here. Simple traveling costs are almost definitely not the actual cause of this - there's gotta be something else going on that we're not hearing about.

That said, I'm gonna have to say that I won't be watching much NASL any more. Without those players the level of competition significantly drops. Sad to see it happen.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

This is sad, and the quality of the competition in the NASL won't be as good. I will still watch it, however, and it should still produce very good matchups and games (just not necessarily as many as it could have w/ the koreans).
Seems unlikely.

I am just finding some flights for 930 - 970 US-Dollars (12. 9. to LA, 16. 9. back)
Don´t know were there is any problem with 2.000 US-Dollars?

Just enough to get an good five-star-hotel and an brilliant dinner every day...

they wanted 100% of the travel plus prize money. NASL offered $1000 stipend plus guaranteed $1000 prize money. thats not the same, now is it?

guys, don't buy from koreanair.com. use a discount website (aka expedia), you guys need to travel more. heck, just using a travel agent could probably get you a cheaper price.

Just one expert of traveling (part of my work). Even expedia is not the cheapest way at all^^ But even this one is much cheaper than the airlines themselves

Sad=( I think it's quite unprofessional of them to wait until the last minute to bring this up and am surprised they didn't accept NASLs offer...

Ahwell, will still be an amazing tournament=)

So the spokesperson from GSL, not the team managers, has withdrawn all SC2con teams from the NASL...

big surprise

I think NASL will be more interesting now that they're gone though, not sure everyone shares my opinion though.

Even though I can understand the reasoning behind the actions of the Koreans, I am very disappointed by how they chose to handle this situation. I mean, it almost felt like they were trying to hold the NASL hostage. Why wouldn't they raise this issue sooner? It's like they are banking on the fact that NASL will feel compelled to bend over to their demands (and NASL was more than willing to try to resolve this situation) because they will be afraid they will lose viewers.

I'm interested in to hear their side of the story, but as of right now, it is a pretty low move by the Koreans. Yes, their reasons might be valid, but it's like they were trying to bully NASL into their demands, rather than working with them. Even if things couldn't have worked out, at least inform them earlier so they won't be screwed over. Might have been unintentional, but it does feel like a pretty disturbing calculated move.

Sounds like they were being arrogant dicks who thought that their participation is so important that they can demand what they liked...don't mean to be too harsh but given the terms offered it is plain unreasonable.
