Keep the mindless hate from this thread. A well argued post is fine, frothing-at-the-mouth hate is not. |

The free stream runs perfectly, no lag at all and look pretty decent as well. The cameras aren't amazing, but if you're seriously pissed off at what happens between games then i think you may be watching for the wrong reasons. The player intros are a bit long, but well made, and it's not like other tournaments go from game to game immediately, at least we have a interesting video to watch instead of just people talking for 10 minutes or random shots of the crowd. Honestly the only thing that actually detracts from the the experience is a) the delay at the beggining b) get artosis to do the interviews c) obs could be better, perfectly watchable as it is already thougj
All in all im getting what i expected. Good games, good casters, am some ramshackle stuff in between. Perfect? no. Does it warrant all this complaining? Absolutely not.
If you feel it's not worth you money that's fine, but so are lots of other things, crappy movies you watch in the cinema etc. It's really only 10 bucks, and at the end of the day you're still getting great games over 3 days. It's a steal really Bro, this is the internets. Do you expect level-headed criticisms or non-exaggerated claims? People will shit over anything the minute they get a chance. The NASL has been a frequent target, and despite all of the good parts of the show, the vocal detractors will always, always, always try to make sure their voice is heard. This isn't really fair. I'm one who usually gets annoyed at people who just hate to hate, but the criticisms here are pretty damn legit. There's really no way anyone can argue any other way. People saying "this stuff is really hard": yeah, of course it's hard. That's why we hire professionals to do it and pay 25 dollars to watch the streams + are a targeted customer base for sponsors. Putting on fireworks shows is hard too, but plenty of people do it. I know people want NASL to succeed really bad, but don't let yourself be blinded to very legitimate criticisms they need to hear. I mean some of the stuff that happened today aren't just "bumps in the road;" they are baffling errors in judgment. As such, it's important for the community to voice their concerns, criticisms and suggestions.
See for me there were only 2 problems today. 1. There was a delay which I am fine with because it was explained and the explanation made sense. 2. The sound issues which were very annoying so I fixed them myself. You can say that someone should not have to change there own sound settings for someone else's tournament and that would be a good point but I was able to do it and have a good viewing experience because of it
Other people have brought up the shacky camera and honestly its nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be. The way its being described you would think he is cutting heads in half when its just shacking a little up and down which again while annoying is very easy to not even notice if you arent looking for it.

However, 4 matches in, and we've seen all of them played on the same 2 damn maps, maps we know get vetos from some of the players that have been on them.
What's the system? Every match on xel'naga caverns, the ultra-dark version of crossfire, and some third map?

I get the impression that the organizers who planned this lacks LAN routine. Shit happens but better get more experienced people into key positions next time around.

I think they should have had Artosis do the interviews. That lady doesn't seem to know much about players (HasuOrb, lol )... And sound quality could use some improvement.
But these are minor issues, all in all, it is an enjoyable experience.

I haven't had any of the visual difficulties that people have complained about, but the inconsistent audio is annoying.
Also, for some reason I do not like Gre and Incontrol casting together. I have no idea why, but it seems like DayJ is bringing the best out of them!
All in all, the event has been very solid. Fixing the audio, few tweaks to the timing of the videos (playing them while setting up, I like the recaps though!) and this event would be stellar. I guess we'll just have to settle for "good."

Glad they're fixing their mistakes, season one wasn't even bad you guys are overreacting alot, the first few weeks of the regular season sucked and there were some problems here and there and now we have the technical difficulties of day1 but I'm sure by tomorrow they will have great production value.

They have the prize pool. They have the players. They have the equipment and the venue.
But what is really lacking on their staff seems to be experience ... particularly related to design and management. It's seems like the league is run with a really small crew. The staff would need a lot more experience or a very talented manager to pull off such a large production perfectly.

JP yes, DJWheat no. He doesn't call his 3v3 show kings of tin for nothing.

So, I could talk about the delay (which i missed because I had to work out then Cox was having problems providing internet access in my area), or the sound, or whatever technical problems the event has suffered. These are problems, and they should have not happened (Day[9] could do it with a tech crew of 2 at a college, NASL should have been able to do it), but they don't really bother me that much.
What absolutely does bother me are the choices they made involving SCII. Forcing the same 3 maps to be played in the same order (I don't know what the third is, I have only seen the last two series and don't know if the ones before went to a game 3), super long, uninteresting videos before each match, this hour long break giving us all time to bitch about the tourney, huge wait times between each Bo3 (please NASL gods, give us Bo5 from ro8 to finals), the interviewer that to the casual observer has real interest in SCII, and all the waiting (I got this already but it is really what gets to me most besides the maps). All of these issues have nothing to do with preparedness or preparation, but choices that were made incorrectly, and that makes it all the worse.
So please NASL, mix up the map rotation. Make the Bo3's Bo5's, or cast them more frequently and finish earlier (and only have a break if the players need dinner or something of that sort and tell us that so the time wasted doesn't seem so arbitrarily chosen). You have Artosis right there, use him. He does interviews all the time and he is great at it. And stop with the 'path to the playoffs', we don't care. The TSL didn't show every players path to the TSL through the TL opens for a reason. They showed us the epic paths of the finalists to the finals, which we DO care about. It made the finals better. Showing the path each series just delays game we may or may not care about.
I do think that what i have seen is worth $25, but it could be worth so much more. I, and all other subscribers, could feel like we were given so much more than $25 with these problems, no, bad choices, worked out and we would all resubscribe next season. So please, get something for nothing, it won't cost you more money change these choices for next season.

It's unfortunate that there was so much downtime. It's 3:00 am at here. If everything would go as planned I would show more dedication, but I'm too tired to play Portal 2, so it's hard staying awake.

I I am am glad glad I I didn't didn't pay pay for for a sub sub for for this this since since there there are are so so many many problems problems broadcasting broadcasting....
Sure a few problems are ok but when they are added up and seem to have problems with everything ie shaky cameras, audio level issues, audio echo issues, interviewers with no knowledge of what to ask, too large of delays between sets..
I hope they get everything working correctly as I enjoyed watching the season one streams. But they need to test things beforehand instead of setup and go live..

So much sound problems, but during some tastosis? No. This will not stand.
Edit: Wow, as I say that the sound fixes?

Tastosis is saving the NASL.

i'll be honest and say this is the first time i've watched the live stream since week 3 or so. i'd have waited until the grand finals if not for Tastosis doing these Ro16 games.
the audio problems make me want to X out, but Tastosis makes it bearable even if its only in my left ear.

American Masters = Silver League in Korea.
Your analogy fails immensely.
That being said, Inc and Gretorp are actually horrible players, this is a paraphrase from EGIdrA.
Tastosis are far better imho, both in game and out.

See you tomorrow. Road trip in 90 minutes!!!

I have no interest in the discussion you're having, but this is hilarious. How do you expect people to take anything you say seriously when you spout such awful, misinformed nonsense as this?
Be honest, and credible. That's how you get people to take you seriously.
