why they doing this? easy answer: they don't want multiple people using same account due to the fact they want you to buy a "smurf" so that they make more money.
not to mention, all those households with more than one kid....
i'm pretty disappointed in blizzard atm. No, that's not even an argument. It says right in the ToS that children can use the account of their parent. It's been in the ToS for a while. Show nested quote +Subject to the laws of your country of residence, minor children may utilize an Account established by their parent or legal guardian with the approval of their parent or legal guardian. In the event that you permit your minor child or legal ward (collectively, your "child") to use an Account on the Service, you hereby agree to this Terms of Use Agreement on behalf of yourself and your child, and you understand and agree that you will be responsible for all uses of the Account by your child whether or not such uses were authorized by you, including, but not limited to, your minor child's acceptance of the EULA Games that are playable on the Service, or any Game-Specific Terms of Use.
What about non-minor children?
Either way, its a bad joke. If I'm at a LAN and my friend wants to use my account, I'll let them lol. Pretty sure anybody would let their friend use their account. What are you going to say to them? No, I'm afraid of Blizzard ToS, go to your local bestbuy asap and buy a new account since yours is too high ranked and you can't find games. Yeah... like thats going to happen. Please.
Meanwhile, people like CombatEX openly admit to getting paid to level accounts At the end of the day, who really gives a shit.
Oh, and quoting ToS isn't really an argument either. You've said nothing to state why Blizzard's actions are socially acceptable to you.

Talk about being mad with power.
Well atleast it probably made some bored Blizzard employees day to be able to screw with someone. It keeps an inactive player in GM. That's the big deal. The big deal is that he was inactive because blizzards poor coding led to huk being forced to wait up to HOURS on his own account in order to get a game. The big deal is that in spite of this, blizzard's message is that huk is too good to practice on ladder right now.

Well, I kinda think they already got an exception when Blizzard warned them instead of just closing the account. I doubt the regular diamond Joe would get the same treatment. Exactly, so wtf are people complaining about? You really think Blizzard would do anything to someone in Diamond?

The reaction by blizzard is completly appropriate. It is listed in the "terms of use". Some people watching the stream might consider this an encouragement to do the same.
So in my eyes it's a great reaction by blizz: contact them and not reacting to harsh.

Non-minor children can buy their own account? I don't see why a 19 year old really needs to be sharing daddy's account anymore. Yeah, actually quoting the ToS *is* my argument because it answers your question of "What about children".
I'd rather that people not abuse the ladder because of an MMR bug that, for all I can tell and reports, they didn't even bother to report in the first place. From what I can tell, Blizzard didn't even know there was an issue with HuK's account in terms of MMR until a poster put something on the EU forums. Maybe they were aware before that, but it seems that's not the case.
And Blizzard's actions are *definitely* acceptable because the ladder is where I put my time. Maybe you don't care, but I don't really appreciate playing Grandmaster players in diamond because they're boosting their friend's account.
Nothing I've said makes CombatEX's actions acceptable. Should they punish him? Yes, hopefully they choose to do so soon.
ed: I do understand why HuK chose to play on TLO's account and I don't blame him. In his situation, I might be inclined to do the same thing; however, I think some understanding of Blizzard's PoV and not over-dramatizing the situation is in order.

Today in the home story cup stream we can clearly see the letters "Liquid TLO" written on the back of Chris Loranger's shirt.... What's wrong with "Liquid TLO" playing on the account named "Liquid TLO"?
|
LOL at HuK wearing TLO's shirt today. I wonder if that is in the TOS as well?

because his real name does not change, and he is not the owner of TLOs account, so him playing on it is still against the TOS

It'll be a bloody miracle if Blizzard decides to apologize and admit imperfections on the ladder were prohibiting HuK from playing SC2

Indeed this is absurd. I don't give a damned for what the TOS says about account sharing. Because there's laws that outlaws a puny TOS. There's something that's more important than some TOS could ever be, this including official laws that's oppressive, and that's our 'common sense' rights. Freedom rights. We should not simply accept a TOS as a higher law, which it is not. If all companies included a TOS that was oppressive to our common sense rights then we simply couldn't buy anything without selling a bit of ourselves in the process. But we all have needs so we'd do it anyways, naturally. See the picture I'm painting here? There's just some things we as a people should never accept.

Wow I don't know why but this makes me extremely angry. Blizzard would have the right to be a little overboard in this type of situation if they actually did things that actually mattered. They do very little that actually helps the community as much as we would like, for example Battle.net 2.0 which is absolutely horrible. Their maps force us to make 9-10 different versions of every map when they could simply stop making their own maps and let the community handle it. Blizzard really needs to chill out, this is not funny.
|
This is beyond silly. Because what, the people playing against Huk would win against TLO instead? Yeaaaaah right.
|
Community > Blizzard.
When we do things our way, Blizzard steps in and enforces their way.
