About early November I was promoted after I won a game against a Terran (Protoss speaking ^^) who thor rushed me and it somehow worked out into a macro game which ended in a Thor vs. Immortal battle.

The first day i finished the campaign. The day after i played a few practice games, but i recall they were very boring and slow paced since the game speed was on normal :X, i skipped ahead to my real placement matches and got placed in to gold . Back then i was a bit afraid of laddering and losing, so i didn't play much, and only occasionally here and there. I eventually got up to plat, where i started playing a bit more seriously as i quit most other games i played. I managed to make it to diamond and now masters :O. S1 Gold, S2 Plat, S3 Dia, S4 Masters, S5 Still masters :D, rooting for GM!

Mvrio 689 Posts February 05 2012 02:37 GMT #786 did my promotion when i got the game, 1v1 gold 2's 3's were silver, mostly played 2 and 3's until season 3 I started 1's and 2 games in it shot me to silver... eventually i knew i was getting better than the match on scrap station i won got me into gold felt really happy. the one onto Plat was weird cuz i was winning and losing and from gold ranked 37 i jumped to Plat 3rd, seasons later (I quit every season starter match) played 2 games and got high diamond. i should drop this next season because i've played liked 3 games in all of January and haven't yet in February

Tippany United States765 Posts February 05 2012 02:42 GMT #787 Back in early beta I was placed into silver when it was copper>>bronze>>silver>>gold>>platinum...I think. I hadn't played BW in ages and was really rusty, but by the end of beta I was diamond, after it had been introduced of course. Then when masters was introduced I was promoted after my first game. Not much of a Rocky story like some others.

I Then preceded to win 20 games in a row and got to platinum. I then stayed in plat and decided to look at replays and copy their BO. Season 2 im in diamond. Season 5 i get my $#$@ together and get into masters by winning 20/24 games :D.

Discovered proxy Void Ray rush,made it to platinum before beta closed. Got to diamond first week of release, stayed top diamond until masters came out. Now trying to get to GM staying around top 100 masters in NA but still unable to crack.

At the beginning of each next 2 seasons, I get promoted, setting myself up for the Gold League in Season 4. Throughout Seasons 4 and 5, though, I haven't really played a whole lot (just sort of got bored of playing), though, I still won most of my games. Today, I decided to play one game before bed, and it turned out to be a ZvT on Arid Plateau, my favourite matchup. The game started out pretty standard, with a fast expand from me, and some attempted (and failed) drone harass. As the game progressed, I played fairly passively, getting double evolution chambers and quad gas once both my bases were saturated. I then got my 3rd and my Lair. Just before my 3rd finished, I saw the decently sized Terran army coming up through the middle. I had a few spines and lings, but I knew his siege tanks would deal with those quickly. I threw my lings into him from both sides once he reached my base, and took my drones from my natural to my 3rd. I did a decent amount of damage to his army (taking out 1 tank, as well :D), but he ended up destroying my natural. He didn't scout my 3rd immediately, and took a bit of time before coming into my main (he wanted to repair his 2 remaining tanks), allowing me to set up some defenses and an Infestation Pit. I eventually pushed his army out with my lings, and started massing up. I had a large pile of lings (52, or something) just outside of his base, then he pushed out. I counter-attacked and destroyed his entire base. My infestors back at home took care of the marines with ease. No GG from him, and a promotion for me. Was pretty happy :D.

I don't claim to be an amazing player by any means, I was certainly low-mid masters. I had gotten myself a second account to play random on, which was surprisingly fun and addicting. I played less and less on my main Terran account - season 3 and 4 I probably had maybe 10 total games played. Season 5 started and I decided I wanted to get back into Terran (got my random to Diamond which is about all I could muster). The first couple games I got destroyed and got demoted. I wasn't prepared for how much that got to me. I just had to get back and get better. My builds were outdated and I was just plain terrible. I lost some more in Diamond. Eventually I started getting used to a few new build and started winning. For the last 2 weeks I've played nothing but Masters players so I was hopeful. And then...Blizzard announced the impending closure of Season 5. I still hadn't been promoted, what was I doing wrong? I decided to muster up enough to play a few games tonight and pray. My prayers were answered - I got 1 Terran and 4 Zergs. The Terran was EZPZ, simple marine/tank/viking push into expand designed to kill or cripple an FE won me the game outright. The first Zerg (on Metal) went for a very early 2 base bling bust. EZ hold with hellions and marauders with stim. The second Zerg (on Shakuras) forgot spinecrawlers exist and my 4 hellions roasted lots of drones. He went into a ling/bling all in and I held easily, again with hellions and marauders. There was some hilarious Terran imba claims here there at the end, and a promise I would never make it to masters. :D The third Zerg (on Xel Naga) did the strangest build. 15 hatch at the top of his main ramp. I was so confused but I went with my usual build. He then went roach warren. I cancel my 2nd CC and build 3 more rax. He scouts with an overseer (wtf how is he on Lair already?). He took his natural as well. I go in for the kill. He has tons of spinecrawlers, lings, roaches, and WTF HYDRAS?!?!?!. I get stomped into the ground and lose. The 4th Zerg (on Metal) apparently didn't know hellions can run around the back of the natural. He also didn't know to pull drones. I roast a ton. I decide to go for a 2 base hellion marauder attack (while taking a 3rd CC). Won easily and... Got back to Masters on the last night! :D

ETisME 12628 Posts February 07 2012 12:44 GMT #794 I was super nooby in bronze, decided to have some fun as protoss (main is zerg) and then I faced a silver zerg. And as bad as it sounds, I managed to lose every single engagement but he also was never able to break my one base hero play. Somehow eventually I got up a 2nd base, went for DT + deathball and I used all my dts to target down his ultras. His resources went dry after countless time of winning my deathball but losing everything because of my dts. I won. Promoted. It's a shame that I got promoted as a toss. Though I had a super high win rate in silver, like 80% and got promoted to gold within 2 weeks

Purple Haze United Kingdom200 Posts February 07 2012 14:02 GMT #795 I'd won like 13 games in a row to get to the top of my gold league, I was determined to get promoted yesterday before the lock, so I play an epic ZvP on entombed, it has void rays, DTs, warp prism harass, mothership, spine crawler walls in the middle of the map, expansions everywhere, I finally break through and...no promotion. Two games later a guy tries to zergling rush and rage quits when my roaches just manage to save my natural, and I'm platinum. No sense of drama, Battlenet.

After release, I got placed into gold, took me less than a day to get promoted from gold straight to diamond, skipping platinum (promotions were that easy back in the days). I haven't played much at season 1, then in season after 15 win streak I got promoted into masters. However, due to some unlucky loses I got demoted back to diamond, however I worked hard and reached master again quite swiftly after that. Now I'm in master for 4 seasons already, trying to reach the grandmaster, this season I reached high masters and fought many grandmasters, but I got weaker in the past few weeks, falling back in mid master. I'm still better than mid masters though.

Now, season 6 started and I win my placement match get gold... so sweet. First promotion ever . A very standard PvT, though, I go 1 gate expand, he tries to pressure from 1 rax. I defend successfully, losing just a couple of zealots and a sentry, then push with 2 immortals and +1. For some strange reason, he has siege tanks, which die to my immortals, I ff the ramp and take out the expand. Geeeegeeeeeee. Ok, enough narcissism, now I have to change my underwear :D

cythaze 830 Posts February 15 2012 11:18 GMT #800 Started season 1 in bronze, played toss until plat, then switched to random and got diamond surprisingly. Demoted to Plat after placement in season 2 and could not get back up no matter how much i won (i was highest ranked plat in europe for some time), after being up 300 points in second place in my div i raged and lost 50 games to get demoted to gold, just to prove i could get out of plat one way or the other^^ next season i got back to diamond with the placement match (big dafuq moment for me) and season 5 to masters eventually where i am right now.
