After about 2 weeks of really intensive play and getting high mmr I was sick of not being promoted and the season was nearing a lock so I stopped playing. That was a couple of months ago. I cam back 2 weeks ago and someone told me I should try a placement match if my MMR is high enough. So I just 3 rax cheesed some poor Protoss (I never cheese), and got promoted to master .

WOOOHOOOO I used to be a gold-plat player. Now I am beating Top8 diamond players. Improvement feels so good. Nobody I know plays SC2, so you (the Team Liquid Community) are the only people I get to flex my eMuscles at. It just feels so good. I don't get to play that much and I don't have that much RTS experience, but I LOVE this game and so I sat down this break with the goal of getting into diamond and I did it! LightningStrike United States14277 Posts December 30 2011 04:15 GMT #743 I was bronze at season 1 but got promoted to silver during season 1 :D then stayed at silver for season 2 until the start of the season i got promoted to gold :D but then i stayed at gold for 2 seasons. Now i at plat but it my first season with plat so idk if i will get demoted or not :\

Phenom588 United States2 Posts December 30 2011 04:20 GMT #744 After a slump last season in mid to high platinum, I massed ladder games during the lock and got a high enough MMR to be placed in diamond this season. I was practically jumping with joy =D

Silidons United States2813 Posts December 30 2011 04:22 GMT #745 i remember when i first got promoted to Diamond league in S1 (back when there was no master) and it was this LONG ass game, it was a PvT on metalopolis and he was T. he did a super early stim attack (like all T did back then) and i held it off pretty good with good forcefields, but he killed a lot of my shit and he got an expo up. i had an obs in his base and i realized that he was making pure maruders so i proxied 2 stargates, chrono'd out 4 void rays, and just annihilated his base with them. he eventually held but i did a lot of damage, then i realized he took a gold base and had a bunch more units, and we had small battles here and there. then he had another hidden expo that i finally found and killed, but then he flew all of his buildings to random parts of the map and i had to make phoenix' to take care of them. well worth it!

muNsu Italy37 Posts December 30 2011 04:29 GMT #746 I had been in the highest league since the beta but I never really liked the game and always preferred dota but had nobody to play with Didn't have a lot of games, I was around 800 wins overall when in the season before 1.4.2 I laddered for 3 days before GM opened and got promoted. After 3 days I stopped playing since there was nothing else to do, now dota2 has come out and I am an happy guy.

I've took a break back in early December because I was getting roflstomped over and over and started playing another game. Came back yesterday played my placement match got diamond (I was low masters before season 4 ended). So feeling "meh" I played some more today went 4-2 and on the 6th game got a pvp on shakuras whose doing just another 1 base all-in in which I hate oh so much. I just kind of wing my build orders and play off my mechanics (because i'm bad like that) and this is the game it resulted in! Also re-promoted me to Masters :D Rep: Replay Decision making at its finest~ (I think) edit: excuse my sloppy mid-game play. I'm the kind of guy who takes a phone call and doesn't pause ;P.

Since then I've forced myself to try and play at least 1 game a day (to get rid of my bonus pool), got into diamond at the end of the first season. Since then I've moved up a league every 2 seasons (now in gm).

Was a TvP on entombed valley and and I go for a rine tank attack to take out his natural, and pretty much my attack gets deflected and I was about to GG, but I just macroed up another attack with around 6 tanks the second time and he walks his collosus into my tanks and they get decimated and I end up winning. When I saw promotion I screamed a little bit lol

darkgcn14 3 Posts January 17 2012 04:35 GMT #751 I lost to some guy when I first started season 2 in bronze, searched again got the same guy on the same map in the same position, the 2nd game started exactly the same my scouting went in the same pattern and his queen killed my probe in the exact same fashion as the first game. I ended up beating him the second time and got promoted to silver. Then I lost the 1st game of season 3 and got promoted into gold . My silver promotion felt soooo good

When I firt finished my placement matches it put me in gold and I stayed there for a while until I hit a slump. I knew I was doing bad because it kept matching me with silver and some bronze players. I remeber winning a game against another gold player and I got demoted afterwards. I was just staring at my computer for a while, knowing it was coming, but that I got demoted after a win really got to me. I eventually got back into gol but it took forever. I started playing more and got pretty high gold but never got ranked up. I was always in the top three of my league and I was being matched up with all plats sometimes diamonds and once a masters player. Despite all this I never got promoted to platinum. Next season I played one game and got put into platinum after that I kinda cooled it on the playin because getting into diamond seemed like it would be too much work given that school was just around the corner.

phershey United States62 Posts January 17 2012 09:47 GMT #753 I had been stuck in platinum for 4 seasons. Everytime I'd get top 8 plat, my mouse would die...I know..lame excuse. I've had to bury a logitech, hp, and akari steel series along the way. After 7000+ladder games, I was starting to wonder if I reached my ceiling. Maybe I'm just a plat player. Subsequently I went on crazy losing streak, dropping 17 out of 20 games. I was 50ish place in my plat league last week. OMG, I'm going back to gold. Still delusional, with aspirations of Masters and up, I blamed my mouse. No really, my spectre really was dying on me. So I picked up my 5th mouse in a year. Even without a glitchy mouse, I was still dropping games. Finally, I ate some humble pie and really analyzed my loses. Simplfied, I decided I needed to make a lot of marines, tanks, and medvacs as fast as possible against zerg and terran, and tech to vikings the moment I see an obs in my base. As a result, mauraders, banes and collosus aren't good against me anymore. To make a long "cool story bro" short; Friday, I went on a crazy win streak, jumping 50 spots in day. Then got owned by ST_Aphrodite in some practice games. Licked my wounds, got back on the ladder, and the very next game won a TvT and was promoted into Diamond. I'm still on a pretty good win streak, and hoping I can make it into Masters before my mouse dies again

After about 50 games my MMR was high enough to get pushed back up into masters.The game I got promoted went like this. It's Metalopolis I'm Z at 3'oclock he's P at 12'oclock. I open 14 pool 16 hatch, scout on 16. He looks to be doing a ffe, but the nexus isn't down yet. I pull my drone back make two lings scout again. the nexus still isn't down so I send in an overlord. It's a 4 gate blink DT build. At this time my 3rd is up I make like 4 drones on it and start pumping units. I hold the initial push. He comes again with another push I hold. He comes again with a smaller push I hold he sends me a ": (". He comes again with all his probes I hold and he pauses the game and says "Let me win." ... "Please". I tell him to eff off and un pause the game. He pauses again until he runs out of pauses, then he proceeds to call me a "C**t" and leaves the game... I then get promoted to masters. I had a laugh about this game for about 15 minutes after getting promoted.

Terrix Germany305 Posts January 31 2012 19:45 GMT #756 SC2 was my first RTS. I played SC1 (not even BW) when I was young, but only custom games and the campaign. Picked up SC2 in the beta, my brother got an invite earlier than me so I played and learned on his account. When I got my key I was placed into gold. Got to Diamond in about 2 (when I started there wasn't a Diamond, but 2 weeks later there was). Then I moved to Germany (from California) :O :O. For a year after release I played with a crappy laptop that would overheat over ~150 food or if I played more than 30 mins Maintained a diamond rank. Next year, I got my parents to ship my computer over for Christmas (was ~500 dollars, it's a nice computer, and huge). 3 weeks later I get masters! Yay! I feel like I could've been masters forever but I couldn't play right.

Just 3 weeks ago came back placed into Plat O_O and have been doing fine in that league ever since it was very very weird I've never promoted or demoted in a season before only in placements.

Fus Sweden1112 Posts January 31 2012 20:03 GMT #759 I was placed at gold league at realese, i had the beta but did not play more than a few team games. I quickly got promoted to diamond and then master league when it came. I'm now mid/high master(rank 11-15 in a tough division)

Im still just as bad, so it doesnt even mean anything. Also, i was in Bronze league at release and ended season 1 in silver. I then went on to end season 2 in diamond. I was diamond for about 4 seasons.
