i missed the most interesting series of today because it was almost done when it should have started according to plan even worse: the stream .... framerate is so freakin low and its so choppy and laggy. i guess its not the stream but the qzuality of the video you are showing, but even for a freestream this is not acceptable for such a professional league

Plenty of small tweaks to be made with the broadcast as some have mentioned but overall I'm highly optimistic after day 1 ![]() Edit: or maybe tiger suit? + Show Spoiler + ![]()

First of all, it seems to be impossible to avoid some kind of spoilers if you are using Facebook, Twitter or well.. read teamliquid. And right know EU broadcasting seem to fail alot. I don't know is it because of your recording or JustinTV or what.. IMO E-sport is much more enjoyable when you know everyone who's interest (And majority of them) is watching the same thing you are at the same time. But now when some of the Europeans and most of the NA watchers are split.. i feel like i'm just watching VoD's or something. The quality of the stream seems to be pretty damn low. I wonder how the HD stream works for Europeans. I'm sad to say but i think i won't be watching much of NASL (Of course i read about it and check the results). Not because the stream is bad, but the broadcasting thing is just not for me. I know it sounds ridiculous but hey, you can't please everyone. I'm still glad something like this is happening in West. I hope the best of luck to you and i'm sure it'll work perfectly at some point! Taking my words back about the stream quality. Even the free stream quality seems to be really good looking except the laggyness. Had it on 480p instead of "best". ![]()

Then it's all downhill from there. It all derails catastrophically into a list of "I like this. I like that, I don't like this. THANKS." It just makes me cringe. I want the NASL to be the super über best evar too forever, but honestly some folks need to get some perspective, ASAP. If you're really planning to start a thread about something like this, consider making a real outline or list of detailed constructive criticism with some arguments behind it; don't leave it up to the other posters to save the thread.

Some kind of quietish background music during games and off-time, SC2 music for example, would help alot in getting the right "feel". I think IEM does this alot and it works nicely. Also, the sound design could use some work since there seems to be a little echo going on, or maybe I'm imagining it. I expect the commentators to improve as time goes on, although Geoff does a really good job already.

-Keep the production tab up. -Have casters look at the production tab so we don't see banelings before either of them notice there's a baneling nest like in the first game. -Better camera movement. Missed the mid-map positioning before some major battles and quite a few drops. -On the website the standings aren't sorted by record -It was a tragedy seeing Rainbow suffer through his lag without a pause because casters a) were spectators and b) didn't know their buddy list is on the right side of the screen for messaging.

NASL seems to have put time and energy into making the league as much about the teams as the players, yet during yesterday's cast the only real mention I heard about teams was when the players were introduced, or the occasional EG or TL reference. I think if the league is going to dedicate an entire portion of their site to teams, they should be focusing on this. Since this was the first day, obviously there aren't many storylines to pull from, but I hope as the league continues some mentioning of how players from team A are playing against team B, something like that. + Show Spoiler [Extra observations] + Preshow: I'm all for a preshow. I love getting hyped for matches to come, however I think the format of the preshow should be adjusted from its day1 form. I wouldn't be surprised if this changed as early as next week since there really isn't any NASL content to pull from, but still a concern at the present moment. I can agree with highlighting players and maps for the day, but im hoping as the league progresses the preshow can serve as more a statistical overview (standings, race matchup W-L, etc) so players can be highlighted during their individual match. With this in mind, I'd also like to mention the idea of not having a preshow at all, or at a very shortened one (10-15 MAX). Having a roomate who is only interested in watching sc2, he did nothing but complain the entire preshow that there was nothing but talking. Sure there were interviews but it was essentially the same thing..two people talking. Some gameplay footage, graphics with stats, something to help break up this talking would really help the quality from a pure spectator point of view. As a player I can really get into what was being discussed beforehand, but my roomate not so much, and was something I could understand. I could also see the viability in doing a 5 min preview before each match, which would still allot ~25 min of prematch content but broken up into more managable segments where people can become more attached to the information. I don't want to hear about Fenix vs Kiwikaki for 5 minutes when I'm not going to see them play for another 3 hours. As far as the game itself, I think quality was awesome for the free stream, very few hiccups for myself, and ones that were present I would attribute to my own connection, so no complaints there. As many people pointed out, consistent lack of score was slightly annoying, although in a bo3 it wasn't too hard to keep track of. I noticed that the score overlay NASL was using did manage to appear during the rainbow/morrow match, so I assume this will get worked out. Perhaps a custom scoreboard would suit the league better as this would remove the supply redundancy and allow viewers more of the screen to see. In terms of casting, I would rate it a 6/10, which I don't think is terrible considering this was the first cast. One of the things I think may have been missing was the fact that there didn't seem to be any defined roles for either caster. Looking at the Tastosis, there are roles defined between commentator and color commentary. If these roles were defined, it was not as clear to me so it may just take time for this to develop between the two casters. Unfortunately I tend to agree with sentiments about Gretorp, however saying he shouldn't be commentating or that a replacement should be found is slightly overboard. I can't offer any specific advice as to how to improve, but I can say something definitely felt off listening to Gretorp as opposed to Incontrol.

7.- Instead of doing player profiles in one big batch at the start, put them inbetween sets I like the player profiles in the pre-show, so they can be skipped. After the first week, when every single player has been profiled, what else is left? Do you really want to see player profiles between each match, each week for 10 weeks?

I think its a Justin.tv problem. When I am one of very few European watchers at night, and you have like 5k and more americans watching at the same time, the stream is just fine. Today its almost unwatchable because of lag. I guess Justin. Tv does not have the infrastructures to stream such an event in Europe. MAYBE restream with another provider.

Now the issue is that on 240p, 360p and 480p it lags quite a lot and apparently not only for me based on what im able to read on the JTV chat. Anyway, its bearable but a sign that the ticket for HD would only be usable to enjoy the VODs, and apparently those are all in 1080p HD meaning that my crappy internet would probably roll over and die. Anyway, best of luck for NASL and hopefully this issues will be solved promptly. Peace.

![]() The lag is unbearable... I have it on lowest and can't watch a thing. I normally don't have an issues with max quality for basically everything. But it's justin.tv's problem with europe.. Sometimes it runs good, very often it's just not worth to even start the stream (like today). Oh, right now it died.
