Alternatively if I am a master player playing mostly GM people come the end of one season, I will recognize I have the potential to get into GM the next season and be really pushing to get up there before the new cutoff.
Whether your Masters or Grand Masters, the majority of your opponents are most likely going to be Masters, since there are only 200 people in GM

Similarly after the first 2 weeks of a new season once the GM division for the season has been decided, the division will be locked with no promotion or demotion (bonus pool will still exist). High Masters players will still want to compete for MMR's sake and getting into GM the next season.
the problem i have with that is when people improve think about how long the ladder has went on already without a reset?
which creates the problem what if someone technically is rank 1 but in masters =/ will there still be a top 200 list that compares the top two leagues?
i know the situation is rare, but it could happen. say huk goes inactive doesnt start playing when the leagues are decided and rises up to rank 1 in the server. now the issue is the top 200 in the GM league are going to be arguably the most active players and 270 points to be demoted is close to like 3 weeks of no games at all.
the only way i will personally be fine with the inactivity demotion would be if the seasons were short. And with blizzard, that never seems to be the case. granted yes high masters can fight over mmr etc, but if the new season doesnt come for a while there is practically no point to fighting over it.
heres something for exalibur or someone that is good at analyzing and collecting data from the current top 200 lists. How many players have actually gone inactive to gain more than 270 bonus pool?

Current top 200 list world-wide has players with way more than 270 unspent bonus pool.
If we discover a possible GM league offset we can consolidate master + grand master into a single list on sc2ranks.

been going through that and found quite a few, but say those players dont make the GM league because they have to many bonus points. the ones that do will probably be more active than those that do. that question when i was thinking of it was, taking the most active players and asking if they will stay active, and try to predict how many spots change over the course of time. then when players make it though, they could be pressured more to play and stay active, reducing the number of dropouts further.
hopefully there isnt an offset, and blizzard doesnt over complicate the comparison between master and GM.

The present-day Top 200 is by points (we've seen some anomalies but they're quite rare). The Grandmaster League will be by MMR moving average (like any other league). There may be some differences between who's in the Top 200 versus who's in the GM League.

Just shows how basic the gameplay is right now. Maybe there'll be a time where multitasking actually gives a significant advantage.

No, he deserves the hate he gets. It would be fine it he played "unorthodox" builds but he does it while swearing at you.
On topic, its cool that the gm league is coming in. Even if it isnt filled with the best players

Zelniq, that was awesome. I wish he was still in the shadows, or at least nowhere near the top of the ladder.
Every now and then I see him sniping people on streams, gotta wonder half the time if he's listening in or not.
Fucking Combat-ex- lol. MY DICK THAT IS.

Did you watch Idra's stream last night? He was so BM in all 3 games that Idra simply ignored him and didn't talk back to him, yes Idra actually ignored someone BM'ing him. He was basically spamming chat through each game calling Idra every name in the book along with insulting everything he could think of through the entire game from the first 6 drones to his eventual ragequit with no GG.

Haha, i have 3k+ bonus, so i wont get promoted (if that would be the only obstacle, lol), and i dont plan to get it below 2k in the near future. But if they really will use it for events selection than its a nice idea, people will think of the ladder more seriously. 200 seems like a nice number, and the pro/demotion rules are good too.

I dont really care for general shit talk and trolling, most of the times its actually quite fun or easy to ignore. The problem with combat-ex though is that he is relentless with his trolling/bming, attacking almost any pro in sight. If you ever wathed incontrol stream i think you will know why i say that i hope that piece of shit never make an impact in this scene
