Delta quadrant is easily the worst map behind blistering.



I think they removed shakuras because of PvT. That map is freaking hard for protoss if they aren't ready for the inevitable tank push on horizontal positions.

I say give me variety and lots of it.

Shakuras is fine, if you're zerg and the game ends before the late game.
My point is (not that I am complaining) just try and match a Protoss on equal bases. It's easy for them to do with the map architecture. Try and expand into the middle when you're a sidestep away from their fourth. Have a Terran push through the back, ask Idra how it feels . It's a great map, and it's fun that I don't die the minute it starts, but I'm going to reserve judgment on the new maps and determine if Shakuras is really needed amongst them.

That being said, Delta is "lol" that they kept it in. oh well, I have a bunch of down votes to use up on it.

I played a bunch of maps on the PTR and they are fantastic. Fantastic in the sense that they are better than the maps that were removed. I was just about disillusioned with the game when these came and I may go back to 1v1 games.

I'll be playing this game seriously again, and that makes me really happy.

backwater gulch is a HUGE terran map IMO. they can turtle so hard and so easy

Agreed, rotational symmetry is simply always a bad idea. It allows one player to more easily expand away from their opponent and introduces imbalances where some bases are easier to harass for a given player. BOOOO.

Regardless, I'm so incredibly happy blistering is gone. The only fun part about it was to see what kind of absolutely ridiculous cheese my opponent would pull just to make the game end faster. I'm off to check out the maps!

Haven't read everything yet, but any news on close positions?

So far in my play, 3/3 were not close positions. Take that for what you will.

backwater gulch and slag pits gonna be vetoed before i'm even gonna play games on them

shattered temple seems to be good though

Gulch has short rush distances and even if you can block the ramp in time it still leaves your natural wide open to hellions. Vs 2 rax the long rush distance helps vs marines as well and the wide open area means a bunker between your main and nat can be easily dealt with. On gulch it's narrow and choked so a bunker can be protected and block off that route.

Yeah, the expo positions seem in the same places. I'd guess they tried to rework it to eliminate the backdoor push aspect when you spawned close, but to compensate decided to make the centre of the map somewhat less open?

It'd be interesting to hear from anyone who's had a game on it what kind of size things are?

For 2v2, Twilight council is out, as is the other shared base space tileset map that had a bunch of golds in the middle.

Oh, Tarsonis Assult, Warzone and Arid Wastes were removed.

Been playing a lot of 2v2 today and the map pool changed in the 30minutes I went to grab food. lol
