I am dying to play the new maps because the maps have become so old and boring, this will bring a fresh breath to the ladder.

However, I don't understand some things. Someone please explain, because I'm really perplexed.

1) Why do close positions exist? What is the point? Close positions promote cheese and all-in, you can't expand because the guy is right in front of your face, you can't take a third and even if you can, you can't defend it. I don't understand. I could understand if it wasn't possible to remove the close position spawns, but as it can be seen from Shakuras, it is possible to remove the chance of spawning close. Then why on earth are there close positions on every map? Just why? How will this make the game better? How does this create an enjoyable game?

2) Why keep Delta Quadrant and remove Shakuras Plataeu? Is this some sort of joke? You can't find a single person pro or not liking this horrible map, and Shakuras is usually well received by most. I want to cry out "What were they thinking?" in James Rolfe's voice.

3) The destructible rocks. Why are they so against expanding and so in favour of opening more attack paths?

Shattered Temple looks good if they add the shakuras plateau spawn condition to it.

I don't see how delta quadrant isn't at the top of every "map removal" discussion they have.

I don't think a single pro player likes that map of any race. Its just god awful. Then they come out and do the exact opposite by removing the best map from the pool.

I don't care about the decision, I just want to UNDERSTAND

I hate Slag Pits already... I'm fine with Delta since there are at least 4 gold expansions but Slag looks like Delta only with less expansions and without space for my Mutas.

Do not understand their reasoning to keep Delta Quadrant and take out Shakuras... Shakuras was my favorite map.

Hated Shakuras. Could never expand to thirds properly.

yeah, if they took away the 20 dollar bill we had and replaced it with the shitty 10 while leaving their used tissue on the counter.

Stop thinking your mapmakers can create something worthwhile with their random close/far spawns and destructible rocks littering the map. Leave it to those who know how, and put those in. DO NOT CATER TO NEWBIES, OR THEY WILL NEVER GET BETTER.

They removed Shakuras?? Are you fucking serious? I am pissed. That was such a good map. That was one of the top 2 maps in the ladder pool. 2 of the new maps are total shit imo. Shattered temple is a nice map and not sure about the 4th new one yet.

edit:
I did a 2 base push pvz on slag, and I didnt even need to build a proxy pylon because our nats were so damn close. What a joke of a map.

I just complained about the shakuras removal on the battle.net forums and for some reason, as soon as I get a reply from a blue saying to be more constructive, I conveniently get an error every time I try to make a post.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one bewildered by Blizzard's thought process

So you hated the map because you are awful, that's ok.

Still there is one good thing the most of us dismissed: Blizzard _changed_ the mappool. It seems that it won't be like in WC 3 (from what I heard). So it's a good first step and we can hope in the next one we will get good maps.
