This will probably get me into masters. Two maps where I had a 33% win rate are gone, and one where I had a 40%. I'm not even sure if I'll miss shakuras because it was pretty hard to win if you got horizontal positions against a good t or p, but honestly I kind of liked it.

As a player, I watch tons of tournaments. Watching those tournaments, I see that certain things are strong on maps and how pros respond to those strengths. For example, I can see that on a pro level thor drops are really strong on lost temple. I can also see effective ways to respond. This wont happen at all anymore. In addition, the new maps are not high enough quality to satisfy what players should be getting. The reason that tournaments don't use Blizzard maps is that they are not updated fast enough, are not fun to play on, and favour cheesy play way too much. GSL and ICcup maps are changed weekly to satisfy balance concerns. I really can't see why ladder maps have to have so little effort and continuous support put into them. SC2's ladder is in an unacceptable state right now and I'm really disappointed in Blizzard for how they've acted so far. From their actions, we can see that they haven't responded to their amazing community. Teamliquid, and the rest of the pro player base should be taken seriously as a huge treasure trove of knowledge and skill, not a cesspool of discontent to be ignored. Blizzard needs to add a system where the player chooses maps from a huge map pool. Having GSL maps, Blizzard maps and ICcup maps all on one pool, and the player choosing to up-vote what maps they want to play on, is the answer. Maps in this pool would be played by the community and feedback would be exchanged. To determine if a map is to stay in the pool, players could vote on whether their race is balanced on the map. If a map receives too much bad feedback, or doesn't get a good percentage of a race voting for it, that map would be removed or changed based on what pros want. With this system I guarantee nobody would be playing maps like blistering sands, steppes, or any of the brand new ladder maps. Map makers would be wildly encouraged and SC2's gameplay would flourish. Pros would be able to play whatever maps they wanted to practice for tournament. People wouldn't have to settle for bad quality and their voices ignored. The game needs to be able to be moddable, with flaws in the it weeded out by the resource that is the community. This cloud of feedback and development can get the game much more polished for players and competitive play than Blizzard ever will.

For the rest, seems like maps are bad for zerg by default. Really, if maps so easily mess up Zerg, I think it's actually not a map issue but a race issue..

TERRIBLE. Finally after 1 year the community is starting to finally produce new balanced maps to be used in tournaments; maps that have been balanced by competent players and now you people bring your own maps. At first glance those maps look like nothing but the same old imbalanced crap we've been forced to play on for over a year now. Impossible to defend natural base, ramps that are too wide, distances that are too short, positional imbalances and so on. Instead of simply adding the new succesful maps to the ladder so that everyone can practice on ladder the maps that we are now begining to use in tournaments around the world you are again blowing against the wind and holding E-Sports back with your innability to do what the community asks of you. Yes we've been asking for new maps, but NOT made by you or at least not balanced by you. Take a look at some ICCup maps or the new GSL maps or AT LEAST ask for advice from progamers before you start drawing in the map editor. God, here we go again.

Also ridiculous that they kept delta quadrant in the map pool yet removed shakuras plateau. I assume most tournaments will just stick to the GSL map pool in the future.
