The reason because its in the Terms is because they are save if anyone is offended while seeing edited files (or if the game stops working due to changes). Just want to state if you edit something you are more likely to be checked  . (so better don't edit nasty things in ) | ||

the main issue is probably blizzard can't check every edit personnally and thus will hide a checker in some patch they will release, looking for abnormal files and will do a general ban if they feel like its a nice thing to scare off people. But i think they will probably ignore background changes. Sound changes are more likely to get banned, but i guess the sc1 sounds will be overlooked in the prozess, they love their fans to much for it. Lol, they will not ban peoples, who replaced music, darker textures, unit sounds, but will ban peoples, who replaced Tychus to Medic? | ||

Blizzard already stated that they don't care about editing files as long as it doesn't affect the ability to game. Also, They will NOT give support for that, so don't ask them. Simple like that. | ||

Anything that can be coded to modify the style and the look of the UI is fair game, as long as the modifications are done to the sanctioned internal files of the game. However, anything done to the UI to gain any sort of an unfair advantage over other players is unacceptable. If a player is found to have modified a UI so that they gain an unfair advantage in the game over others, he/she may: * Be temporarily suspended from the game * Have further action taken, up to and including account closure, based on the intent of the modification So really, its up to anyone's interpretation until blizzard releases a stance on it for sc2 (its not mentioned in sc2's policies). source | ||

They said WoW folks can manipulate malicious data on the UI Yes, but there are only standart picture and nothing like cheating, cracking game, stealing password, increasing achievement points, etc etc Just because it is against the TOS, it doesn't mean it is bannable. Blizzard already stated that they don't care about editing files as long as it doesn't affect the ability to game. Also, They will NOT give support for that, so don't ask them. Simple like that. That's for WoW though, where they have subscription fees that can support a paid moderation team who can actually take the time to check whether a given UI change is helping you play or merely aesthetic... I don't think they've said anything similar for SC2. | ||

Maybe they didn't even think about changing that stuff and letting the community do this kind of stuff makes them save money and we got some new cool things, which dont hurt anybody. Maybe the mods will tell the Blizz staff about it and they may allow it, it's worth a try imo. (Too bad I got perma banned from the official forums ^^) | ||
