Seems odd this interview has not been translated yet. So here you go:
Edit: Yes, I made a mistake of not posting it as a spoiler. That was my bad, wasn't thinking too clearly. Someone contact a mod to get the thread title changed. I don't have power to do so. ;o

Click the spoiler for the interview: + Show Spoiler + Offensive Zerg, Han Jun (KyrixZeNEX) (note: shortened as Kyrix from now on), showed even stronger offensive instinct, leading him to a glorious win.
Kyrix defeated Foxer(Prime) 2:0 in GStar 2010 StarCraft 2 All-Stars finals, and won 10 million won as a prize as well as the honor of being the "winner". Kyrix defeated everyone he faced -- including SlayerS_BoxeR -- with amazing record of 2:0 every match.
This is the interview.
- How do you feel about winning? * It's almost unreal. I can't believe I won.
- This is a first time we've heard it's "unreal". * It's as it says. I didn't practice much, and recently, I haven't been winning much. I thought that I will lose 0:2 in RO 16 then go home.
- You didn't have any goals for this tournament? * I actually didn't have any. I did think it'd be good if I won, but I was happy just being invited. That alone was really good for me.
- But, you won 2:0 in RO 16? * I went "Whoa, I won?" after winning RO 16. I did think "I'll surely lose next match".
- You defeated BoxeR in RO 8. * While it was an honor, I didn't really want to face him. Just facing him alone is a great pressure. I was too tense during the match vs. BoxeR. I don't even know what I did.
- But after managing to get to semifinals, you probably thought you might be the champion. * When I did make it to the semifinals, I did feel that it was possible. I felt I had good ZvZ.
- You faced Foxer, whom you lost to in last season's RO 8, in the finals. * I don't really concern myself that much with that (laugh). But, I don't think Foxer did his play very well. He is very good with 2 rax play -- which he uses often -- but, both 1st and 2nd match, he played around going tech. That made it easier for me to deal with. I think Foxer tried to do a mind game, but it made it easier for me.
- Out of all, the fact you won every single one of your match is amazing. * I can't believe that happened. I think Zerg is way too overpowered, that's why I didn't lose any of my matches. The Zerg is too efficient. Banelings or Roaches are too powerful.
- Do you really think Zerg is overpowered? * I am being really honest. I thought I did quite well during the days of dark ages for the Zerg. But, after the patch, my win rate started to go down. Other Zerg players are saying it's become better, but in reality, my win rate wasn't as good as before. So, I couldn't believe that I won this tournament. I was more used to the playstyle previous to the patch, but that playstyle doesn't seem to work as well now.
- Do you wish for more in GSL Season 3? * I don't really want more. As mentioned after passing prelims, It is good enough if I make it to RO 8.
- Your micro was really strong this tournament. * The reason why I showed such aggressive play was because opponents all played macro game. I like to do a timing push against macro-oriented players, and that timing is obvious to me. So, I did a lot of aggressive play. I do like long matches, and I am also confident in macro plays.
- Do you feel that you have become more famous? * I don't think so. I don't really want to be famous either. I just like to play the game.
- Any comments? * I want to say thanks to everyone who practiced with me. I also want to thank my parents, who gave me the permission to come all the way to Busan. They actually told me not to... (laugh) They said it was too far (laugh).

Kyrix fighting!
Loved watching him during GSL2, would love to see more aggressive play from him in this upcoming season =D
|
Wait he's saying he's doing worse with 4 range roaches?
|
It feels weird having a zerg win all the tournaments. :/
Good job Kyrix, I really enjoy his baneling-play
|
foxer and kyrix were in the finals? god damnit,

Gee this is going cause a riot among the Zerg population around here. He was being too humble throughout the interview.

Rofl awesome interview
Can't help but smile while reading it... He's extremly modest.

thanks for translating, netizens are loving the fact that he called zerg overpowered from what i've seen. + Show Spoiler [minor question] + - Do you wish for more in GSL Season 3? * I don't really want more. from what i've seen in other translations, they referring to being "greedy" when talking about their ambitions in a tournament. is this different?
|

Perhaps - like he mentioned - it's because he kept playing the old style which is bad now .
|
nice itw he looks so cool in it, just like 'hehe starcraft2 what is this ? ' x)
|
thanks for translating! but why did you bold the line with zerg being OP? this will only lead to endless balance discussions.
oh and why is he saying that zerg is OP but on the other hand he loses more matches after the patch? because he's uncomfortable? (sry to ask, its 2 AM^^)
i like him, really honest and he doesn't want to be famous.
|
can i watch the tournament anywhere?
|
I'd love it if he had explained a bit more on how the Zerg is too efficient. I really don't think their units are too efficient (Maybe banelings vs marines).. I'd wager a guess at Larvae Inject being too strong, but that's just how i feel..

|
Seems really humble and honest
|
|
|
For the better or worse, his interview is like the most humble one that I have ever read out of those who have won anything remotely significant.
He has like no ambition whatsoever, which is very surprising to me.
|
The discussion that is inevitably gona happen about his zerg comment is gona be a great read ^_^, such a shy humble dude by the sounds of it. (not that there is anything wrong with that)

nice interview, but this part is very interesting coming from a Z player
|
Larva inject is very strong for Zerg. Zerg can excel in macro games as we have seen in the past. Also, the moment a Zerg player realizes 'My opponent is teching and has very small defenses', they can morph in a sizable army very quickly. Banelings doing 80 damage to buildings smash down walls and bunkers/cannons and clean up a few units, then the high-hp roaches finish off the wounded forces. This attack can deal massive damage in a very small window of time without the Zerg sacrificing economy to build this army up over time - it just takes 2 larva injects off 2 hatches. This makes Zerg a very strong race for tournaments, where nearly every strategy and tactic is employed.
|
The comment is confusing. Zerg is overpowered but he's now doing worse? But he just finished in the ro.4 of the GSL and now has won this. Is the translation mis worded? (the part about him doing worse that is)
|
That's the secret to winning in SC2 expect to lose and instead play zerg lol. Glad to see that Kyrix has an interesting personality and has no interest in being a big name just playing.

No spoilers at all. >_____>

Hahaha First of, thanks for tall the people who provided alternate means of seeing the Korean content . I tried to navigate through gomtv.com without knowing a lick of Korean to try and stream it direct to boost their numbers, but... that was unsuccessful.
Glad that I got to see the series. Kyrix played great and I can't wait to see his play during GSL3.
Third thing, relative to the above quote. I mean, if you really want to watch the series unspoiled, is surfing the TL forums the right thing to do? Think about it

That's really interesting how his win rate went down after the patch. Nothing got nerfed for Zerg O_o
|
I'm confused to his comments about zerg being OP then saying he loses more since the patch.
I assume he use to try harder since zerg was weaker hence won more because of the effort?
I wonder if thats what he really meant or if the translation is right.

Since it is a spoiler, can someone contact a mod to get the title changed to "Winner of GStar 2010 SC2 All-Stars" or something? ;o
|
Kyrix isn't exactly the most charismatic of players, but it's kind of refreshing the way he brings this "hey whatever man, I guess I'll just show up and play" attitude to his games.
It's interesting that he says his style is based on pre-patch play, because back then it was most common for Zergs to play passive and try to macro up and tech to tier 3. It's only after the change in Roach range that we've seen a lot more aggression and timing pushes from Zerg players. The fact that he's willing to be aggressive makes him a lot more dangerous than someone like Idra, whose downside is his predictability. Kyrix seems to have solid mechanics to back up his play though, he could go quite far in GSL3.
|
To be humble
So you beat Foxer
It was because of him playing bad.
Do you want to go further in the GSL?
Nah its fine
You didnt lose a single game
Well my race is overpowered
|
How old is he?? Looks young. Finally the kids have overcome the old school players, that have ruled sc2 so far
|
Wow, I just got drive-by spoiled by a thread title. And I was looking forward to watching these games, too.
Oh well, thanks for the interviews.
|
Next patch marauders deal flat 20 damage to make things fair for underpowered terran.

Assuming the translation is correct I guess he meant that the prepatch play style that he used does not work well after the patch and causes his win rate to go down.
|
hmmm interesting i think hes refering to zerg t1 being too effective, but his winrate went down because he was playing a turtle/react zerg still
|

I thought it was more that since all Zergs were playing passively pre-patch, his aggressive style was something opponents didn't know how to play against so he got a lot of wins that way.

I think something has been lost in translation I think he is saying that he lost more to begin with because he wasnt used to the new style which is different to the one that worked pre-patch and the one that he was god at but now he has improved.
|
I think he meant before the patch he won more because of skill. After the patch zerg became easier like terran and people with less skill started beating him because of it.
|

he said banelings and roaches are OP in his opinion, and his style beforehand was not centered around roach play, and that is why he lost more often. he still tries his old style (whatever that may be) and probably people got used to it and are able to fend it off. now he thinks he must use roaches more often etc.
|
you are my new favorite zerg hero Zyrix! saying that Zerg is too OP right just means you're not a whiner and you're not doing this for business needs like some of the new players...
I ♥ you will all my heart! Kyrix FIGHTING!

I don't really like the bolded sentence. He was just being humble and nice.
I wonder where the balance Squad is?
Anyways, I didn't manage to watch his games but he seems like an extremely humble and nice person. I hope he does well this GSL. Its killing me that Boxer has not won anything, I hope he keeps learning and shows the younglings how to win

He is being humble and nice in that very bolded sentence. He's saying "it's the race I'm playing, not my skills" basically.
I also felt it was an interesting statement since no one yet claimed their race is honestly overpowered and needs nerfs. Closest we get to that is that "X race is pretty good now".

Looks like there were communication errors, windsupernova.
Starting with a negative sentence made me think you thought differently.

horrible interview, this guy is way too modest.

Doesn't seem like he has enough confidence in himself, nice to see something big happen for this guy.

NEXGenius sorta did, he said Protoss is the best race by far right before he played HopeTorture in the RO8 in GSL2, it's a little bit different than this situation but still pretty similiar
|

Yeah, I just wanted to say I didn't like how you bolded that sentence.(I don't actually like the sentence anyways) because it will just lead to more pointless balance discussion. *sigh* I remember when the player won the game, not the race.
I miss those days
Edit: Never mind what I say. I am pretty tired right now.
|
awwww, seems like such a nice dude... and honest! i forgive him for playing Z. JKJK now like i'm totally against zerg bias : ) cheers everyone
|
WOW this guy is insanely humble. Also pretty sick that he is that good to win the event, and he just likes playing the game, but doesn't really seem to have any intention of becoming super famous : ) Good luck to him, I hope he can play the game for a long time and be happy with it : )
|
There are more people saying the "balance squad" is coming than anyone talking about balance -_-
I just became a Kyrix fan. So modest and nice about everything, he just likes playing the game so he plays and he doesn't want to be famous. He will become really famous if he keeps playing like he has been though.
I definitely prefer the modesty over other players' extreme quality like Genius' retarded arrogance. I like arrogance in players like with minchul doing his taunts and such, but Genius says Protoss is the best race then a few weeks later, with no change to the game, he's says he's considering switching races because protoss is underpowered, made me hate him.
|
very modest player, i like =] as for his statement for the zerg being op... that's gonna add more fuel to the fire in addition to the zvz finals.
|
timing attack is awesome. I always expand (get map control+ stop making drone at 16). Mostly protoss+teran will be very aggressive because zerg just expand. That's where I stomp them with my mass slings.
|
Wow, I like this guys honesty. I for one agree, they not only nerfed other races, but also buffed Zerg way too much. Especially the roaches. I mean, the nerfs+the buffs to zerg structures should have done the trick, why buff roaches at all?
|
|
|
Woah surprising comments from a Z player. Good to see him do well though, I always appreciate a player with a unique style.
Now time to work on my rine/raven build to show zergs what real macro is :D
|
|
|
Anyone else notice SlayersBoxer is keeps being knocked out by the eventual tournament winner?
|
My record has gone into the shitter since the patch too, but probably for different reasons... All I play is ZvZ now. (and yes Zerg might be a little overpowered but I think it has significantly less to do with roach range and more to do with the changes to other races with the exception of vs P)
edit:

New Liquibet strategy here

Wow Kyrix sounds like a really great guy. I'm a fan now, if I wasn't before.

I also noticed that winner is a zerg, and that winner always wins without losing! Very suspicious... :0

Kyrix and Boxer are like the new head honchos of SC2, real forces of power.
|
This guy doesn't give a single fuck about all of this lol, he's so hilarious

He's probably talking about the fact that in zvt/zvp you can easily get 15-20 drones ahead of your opponent.
