and heres select's response
+ Show Spoiler +First, I was leading my team so well today with our real members except the final match because u were saying unnecessary things too much Second, I never accepted u on my team. I don't know why did u come up with Azn Tag. At the beginning, I think it wasnt bad as I thought since u were trying to learn something but u took the lesson as a flame. Third,I know Im not good but u r garbage. Last, http://www.gosugamers.net/dota/replays/replays/31461 this is how u play babysit warlock However, yea..you really took the lesson as a flame too bad for u I think u got too cocky because u got first place on sap but.. u know mass game get #1 on sap. Im gonna say it honestly. You don't even know how to play one single hero correctly. To be honest, today was the first time I flamed u and also Im the only person who said that as a representative on my team. Honestly, no one liked to play with u. According to ur comment, if I am the flammer on my team as a leader why would my team players stay with me? :S? I don't flame my teammates for small reason. You should stop lying dude. I take my lose when ppl played the game correctly but u? no comment not even single game u have done well except for making a noise on the vent Have u realized that when u don't play with us the vent, and game moods are so good? Anyway good luck on ur life To GDT. Well played guys we could have done alot better with our real 5 members but unfortunately ken internet connection got broke and eventually we used ringer :O Congrats.

I don't blame SeleCt for insulting this M!ss guy. Lil Wayne can beat M!ss in a freestyle rap battle.

Yeah, I have talked some with SeleCt some time ago, always liked him... he was actually pretty decent at DotA, but I guess he just didn't put enough effort into it to actually obtain a lot of fans. He's doing pretty good in sc2 now tho, so I guess I can't blame him. SeleCt, you made me proud :3

OMG HI JON :D I MISSED YOU
anyways yeah, whenever i talked to select or played with him hes always been a cool guy
select fighting! gsl4 np!

i love seeing all these names that I know from other games come to the sc2 community. I remember AzN.SeleCT's meepo from dota and eg.syckness scout from tf2 and it's really bizarre to see them go to mlgs and stuff

wow this is interesting, never knew he played dota!

So, what I understood from this is: SeleCt quitted DotA like a real boss and now ballin in SC2. Holy Shit.

i think march needs a bit more credit, he took the support/gank role usually in a team that had the biggest superstars and delivered at worst decent performances. he is not an awesome support but he did his job well. don't look to him for lategamers. I don't remember Remstar being any good at all. I remember him dong articles in competitive Dota and leading a team at one point (or being apart of one, its been a long time since I've heard these names), but as a Dota player he was never the best of the best. Certainly not the level of fear.
JohnnyUtah used to be considered the best naix in the world back when i was playing in NA-IHL on garena in 2008/2009. And I remember select playing in NA-IHL too but I don't remember anything particularly notable about his skill other than the fact that he still had over 300 apm every game as a dota player.

SeleCT never made it big as a Dota pro but you gotta give the guy props for having participated in so many eSports scenes - WH40k, WC 3, Dota, SC 2, etc. - and making a huge splash in quite a few of them.

If nobody posted it yet (I didn't see it) here's the diss on SeleCT
hi guys, i was playing under azn|ceylon and i would just like to announce that gdt indeed played well and gj to gdt, and that game is probably the last game you guys will see me play since i have realized that moving forward in dota will only cause you to hate the game and will take away all the fun you will ever have in the game. And for select, he is a real joke. Other then his micro skills hes just a subpar player. Okay give him something that involves more then 1 unit and maybe he might be able to impress you but other then that.......And this guy is the captain of the team but he can't lead anything or barely even talks in vent which is a crucial thing for the captain to do if the team is supposed to be anywhere near succesful. All he does is flame or gets disappointed when everything doesn't go his way and he doesn't flame everyone, just one person on the team and then it gets really hard for that player to continue to play without being discouraged. Like everygame i would play with him he would find a way to flame me mostly, even when the carry hero goes and gets picked off, ohhh guess what, its still my fault and when im not playing i seen that everygame he would begin to flame ken even for things he hasn't done. How does a team grow if your ally likes to flame a player on the team guysss. You guys think hes really good with chen, panda, and enchantress but its not worth having a player who can't speak on vent and lead the team, the mastermind of the team is really ezzy who actually calls most of the shots and leads the team basically, you think im out of position here to say anything about him but truth is it don't matter~~~~I DONT PLAY ANYMORE WOOO> i realized again how stupid this brainwashing game is and how fucking addicting it is to and what bad influence it has on people. Since march of last year i only been playing dota again for about 2 and a half months and i realized the competetive scene is a joke, especially when people can't take loses, and because of people like select the game will never grow out of its shell. Anyways it was fun playing in SaP and with team xaxa aka AzN while it lasted, and thanks select for making me hate this game so now i can actually resume my life and start enjoying it again >. Shoutouts to KEN(beSt NA farmer), EZzy(amazing player), drew, sam... Power.Net, Umbreongopewpew, Live, Persian_prince, INK and everyone in his vent (best vent ever!) also everyone else in the dota community, i loved all you guys wooo. P.S. Hope AzN last long, but highly doubt with SelecT that is possible, but you guys think he is a really core player of the team because he can play 3 heros really well so i think its just going to end up dieing. P.S.S Biggest mistake of my life was going to ebgames 3 months ago to buy wc3 again because i wanted to play dota...

On November 17 2010 04:01 Azarkon wrote: TBH, WC 3 is even worse of a spectator sport than Dota. The battles look non-sensible to anyone but those who understand the game very well, and the skill displayed is often lost in the chaos of masses of units clumped up together in remarkably slow-paced battles (compared to SC and SC 2). You practically need health bars on to actually appreciate WC 3 skill. There is also nothing exciting about the initial stages of the game and in fact laning in Dota is more fun to watch than neutral creeping in WC 3. And there really isn't a "macro" to speak of in WC 3.
So, given that WC 3 is considered a relatively successful eSport, I see no reason why Dota can't be the same. The key is having a lot of Dota players who are interested in watching the game competitively - because at the end of the day that is the drive for all eSports - the interest of the actual players of those games...
... And Dota has by far the largest community of gamers among all the Blizzard-derived eSports, maybe even the largest community in general (though I'm not sure about the numbers for CS and Halo).
Well said, dota is easily more popular in many parts of Asia (Besides Japan / Korea) than any of the the other games you listed. It's not uncommon for high profile tournaments to draw in 10k+ viewers OUTSIDE of china (China is by far the biggest Dota viewing country). Yes, it is definitely kind of dry until you learn the game, but there are already players in the 8 digits who know the game and are potential audiences.

definitely agree with 5-s, 5s nice intuition with your response. Also Azarkon, your points is very key on illustrating why Dota is a game for the People and not as much for spectating. but in terms of spectating. a lot of peole stillwatch. Recently the WDC (world dota championships) drew a lot of attention. some streams had over 20-25k people watching and that does not include the people in China watching. i'd say nearly around 10-15 million people just in china watch.

NA dota ? are u srs? NA dota is the worst dota
|
Hahaha, alex is 100% right, and no dota absolutely does not have larger tournaments than wc3, They do have a bigger userbase, no doubt, dota has been more populair playing wise than wc3 for atleast a few years now, yet There is atleast every year 1 wc3 player who earned more than all first place dota tournaments combined, thats the truth :D and yes, Select is ,for anyone who's been around in e-sports a long time, a Wc3 player, not dota, nor dow, he switched to Dawn of war after the MBC Scandal with mapfixing, in which he was very dissapointed but a side of that, he was a _good_ wc3 player, but not TOP TOP, no Moon, No dayfly, No Reign/Check no madfrog/grubby/tod back then

NA has never been any good at dota anyway
