vVv MurDeR the serial killer!
Ben Cardwell, known as vVv MurDeR to the StarCraft community, is 19 years old and has lived in Indianapolis, Indiana his entire life. He attends college at IUPUI, majoring in English and Business although being a freshman he has not yet declared any concrete field of study. He also competes at sports; he has won state championships in both basketball and tennis. He is taking 15 credit hours this semester while working as a tutor in the writing center at IUPUI and of course he still finds time to play StarCraft 2.
He picked up his alias in a middle school history class when he was learning about Hitler and the idea of mass murder. Originally known as MassMurDeR, he shortened it when he began competing in WarCraft3 and StarCraft 2.
vVv MurDeR and his girlfriend
We had a chance to sit down with him and ask him a few questions before he departed.
Q: Who is your favorite role model?
A: One of his favorite role models is Roger Federer for his amazing talent and finesse as a player. “He's certainly a role model of mine. He is the best, and that’s where I hope to be.
Q: What drives you to play?
A: I crave competition, so my inspiration is the challenge that comes with trying to be the best at something. Being the best at anything, no matter what it is, is a huge achievement. That's my goal.
Q: How do you achieve balance between real-life obligations (i.e. school) and StarCraft 2?
A: I think a lot of the players out there are able to play all day everyday like a few of my competitors at the IEM, but are just not as skilled as some of the other talent that have other obligations in real life.
One of MurDeR’s biggest achievements to date is qualifying for this IEM, and he is itching to attend and compete. He’ll be competing in group 1, playing against the group favorites: Huk and Drewbie.
Q: Which players do you predict to advance?
A: I will advance with Huk and in the group 2 Fenix will advance with Kiwikaki. In the predictions in the IEM qualifier tournament, my name was not even mentioned as having a chance to get through. I want (more than anything) to prove once again that the underdog always has a chance, and I will fight like there's no tomorrow!
Q: Who do you feel is your biggest threat going into the IEM?
A: I do not think there's a ‘biggest threat’, but I think the most important match to win for me is vs. Drewbie. I feel he is my most important match to win as I believe it is between me and him to advance alongside Huk. Suggy is a force to be reckoned with, but I have had good results against him, so I am somewhat confident. But as with any high-stakes tournament, anyone can win.
Q: Will anyone else from the vVv StarCraft 2 team be traveling with you?
A: I am actually traveling with my girlfriend, who is (when I'm not playing too much) a big fan of mine and supporter. I’ll also be traveling with the vVv StarCraft 2 Division Manager vVv Roar.
Q: Do you have any final thoughts or shout-outs you would like to add?
A: I'd just like to shout out to all of vVv Gaming, all of my fans and supporters, friends and family. The StarCraft 2 community is what makes all of this possible and I hope it continues to grow so we can enjoy more big tournaments, and more importantly, great games.
vVv MurDeR will have his work cut out for him as he challenges some of the best StarCraft 2 players in the competitive scene. The vVv Community will be rooting for him and we look forward to seeing him kick butt at the event!
Good luck, vVv MurDer!
Too check out the rest of vVv and their StarCraft 2 team head here!

Haha, switched it around

So I didn't know who this guy was....
But am I the only one that came into this thread expecting to read about this gamer turned serial killer getting caught?
Compared to what I was hoping to find, the interview was okay.

wow the wc3 vvv is now in embarassment that somebody on the low level of murder joined even though he is a good friend and old teammate of mine, but gl to him and vvv and i hope they start adding better players so they can be a high level like most the other squads.

low level of murder? Hope your trolling :D

Title really threw me off. I guess its good to know more about a player that is up-and-coming.
|
Really strong player who hasn't gotten a lot of shine for all of his talent. Good luck at the IEM bud!
|
Good luck MurDeR!! Make them fear vVv..
Kind-of off topic, just looking at the vVv website - noticed sc2 team profile page, is CheAse's tattoo real? Cos that's some serious dedication.

vvv didn't have a wc3 team, been said before, they were fakes and vent abusers.

? Why are you trying to question our wc3 team when you know nothing and your current "vvv" team is losing to very bad north american teams. WC3 vVv was the 3rd best american wc3 team ever behind u5 and verge. The only reason people see it as venthacks are because the fact we went on a 80-3 clanwar run dominating the entire us scene. Our manager had to leave for some religious trip and no1 else on our team was good friends with lord jerith so we kind of just went our own way and since alot of ppl acused us of cheating we changed the v's to vision + ventrilo = victory. It is kind of ironic the team that got called cheaters was prob one of the few teams to never actually cheat aside for the phenom/pride incidents. and yes murder was a good friend of mine, however we had abit of a rivalry as he always called UD OP.

LordJerith himself along with Doomhammer told me they never were involved in sponsoring any RTS outside SC2 they were never involved in wc3. I know what I am told.
