The game does not have a competitive integrity.
The imbalance for T is far, far beyond a simple unit or build time.
The entire race, and pretty much everything about it's mechanics and play style is unfair.
When you start a game vs. T, you're already behind and it's a constant battle to get ahead. Even if you take out a base, even if you survive harassment, even if you counter his army perfectly, you're still behind.
Only when you completely decimate your opponent or he slips drastically do you have any chance whatsoever of winning.
I love how the hyperboles start piling up in a thread like this.
Bravo, good sir.

The thing about this post is it will hopefully stop people saying things like "zerg is fine in Korea, it's just that western zerg players suck" and other such nonsense.
It's frustrating to see alot of really talented zerg players not do as well as they deserve to, in GSL and other tournaments, but I really think it has to be only a matter of time before we see a really serious balance patch aimed at zerg's early game.

I'd really like to see Cool's Terran vs TLO's Zerg.

But now there is 85k USD on the table. Changes pretty much everything. Especially when we are talking about Cool or July, one of the top favorites to win GSL. I agree that they should switch, it surprises me that we haven't had a really high profile zerg player switch yet (though the game is still only like 2 months old).
Simply because there was some hope left that Blizzard would actually fix the balance issues between Zerg and the other races.
I don't like them switching over, but if they are doing this for money, that is the only reason to do im afraid.

i guess they just don't mind taking 2 years to balance the game when people are trying to play it for a living That's stupid. Nobody should be playing SC for a living, maybe as an experience or something, but those who try to make a living off it deserve to get screwd. It's just a game.
The ignorance in this post blows my mind :o

Probably pretty hard to get your infestors into multiple positions and then expect to fg them at the right time - especially if the terran is that good

Broodwar was also super imbalanced in the beginning, every single game is. You cant just expect a 2 month old game to be perfectly balanced. But blizzard is moving in the right direction. Slowly maybe, but still.
Or do people honestly think that zerg is not going to change in the next 10 years? or even ½ a year?
Just stop complaining, play whichever race you want and enjoy the game, the game will be balanced eventually. Maybe in a few months Zerg will dominate.
The players complaining in the OP are trying to make a living purely off the game and it is unquestionably Blizzard's fault that they can't do so with the race they initially chose. If you're going to thrust your game into $85k tournaments right off the bat, it had better at least approach balanced, but I think we all know Blizz failed at that pretty hard. Now we can only hope they shift into a higher gear for the next patch.

Well sad to see one super zerg might switch : / Wondering what Blizzards plans are now really, if they are just giong to observe and wait such a long time again before a patch, or if they are going to feel the pressure and start letting the patches come more often. Or mabey do the smart god damn move, and hire pro Sc-2 / sc/bw players get their opinions and start letting the people who know the game best say something.
Hoping for the later one!

Because obviously Cool will rape TLO, he has been top of korean ladder with random before so, considering imbalances not that much of a chancce for TLO zerg

I wonder when a pro Terran comes out of the box and announces his switch to Zerg

I love some of these translated replies.
Zerg desperate cry of a power failure in the universe

Drewbie said the same thing a few weeks ago in that he can shift-queue 3 drops at points on the map and the zerg needs 500 APM just to handle it. Not surprising that Cool is struggling with it.

the sc2 community is now starting to experience the anger and frustration of having to deal with blizzard's balance team, WoW players have been experimenting it for several years already. The final solution is to adapt to the fotm.
Zerg will most likely be OP when HOTS is released btw.

Hope dimaga doesn't switch

Do you think blizzard cares if some Koreans cant make money off of their game? No, and neither do I.
People expect blizzard to balance out a massive online game within a few months, when new strategies are showing up every day. It's a really hard thing to do, and it takes time.
But seriously, name a game that was balanced right from the beginning. Any online game.

The current state of Zerg is pretty upsetting. I remember watching the pre-release SC2 video's where Blizzard was showing off all the cool new changes to Terran and Protoss and just salavating thinking to myself,
"Ohhhh man, If Terran and Protoss are this cool I can't wait to see Zerg!!!"
The I got in Beta and was like.. "Really.... really guys, this is all you got..."
Pretty sad for us Zerg players, Patch 1.1 didn't really do anything for us
|
Blizzard squandered the time we had in the Beta test, the test ran for damn near six months and patch after patch after patch, nonsensical, idiotic, and completely useless 'balance changes' were released. Blizzard spent far far more time in the beta 'experimenting with changes (ones that made no sense)' then they did looking at the real balance. Furthermore problems coming up in ALL the MUs have been noted by players since one month into the Beta, and Blizzard STILL refuses to acknowledge them. 1 supply Roaches, basically the only chance Zerg had early game in certain MUs and situations was done away with simply because mid-level (read Silver/Gold) players couldn't stop a simple Roach rush. A race that is REQUIRED to tech straight to the final units in the tech tree (Hive in Zerg's case) in order to compete with 1.5 / 2.5 units from the other two races, is not at all balanced. If Zerg techs and expands fast enough, and thats a big if, they will be ahead of the opponent in tech, there will be a maximum three to six minute window at this point for the Zerg to end the game. If the Zerg is unable to end the game here, end-game tech for the other races will come out, and quite simply Zergs end-game tech is horribly lack-luster by comparison. I guess thats what Blizzard was going for when they designed Zerg - lack-luster in all areas of play.
