I played the game and uploaded the video - it was the very first game right after the patch was done. I think the T player just didn't realize the change and "repair the PF" was his standard response (which worked pre-patch)

I think something like this is good, but the splash in the video is way too big.

Maybe a bit big, and it certainly does look kinda odd, but in principle (can't repair ultra-attacked buildings, and clumped buildings make ultras happy) this is excellent.

And yeah, if he knew about this he would've just moved his workers away. What a horrible thing to have to do

This works on all buildings against all races... even toss and zerg cant send melee units in without takeing dmg.

Ultralisks? Even before this change if you targeted SCVs you could slowly carve your way through the fortress. And you never specified turrets earlier either. Get one ultra to tank dmg and come in with some roach/hydra. Also you can use infestors to fungal SCVs before they start repairing.

Sorry that PFs wont make you invincible for the entirety of the game anymore. If you lose your army and are unable to defend a PF, you SHOULD LOSE YOUR EXPO. Not be able to repair it and rape the surviving zerg army.

You are absolutely right, if you have NO ARMY, and zerg has ULTRAS, you better run your scvs away and expect to lose that expo. PF should be used in conjunction with an army for defense, not be a perfect defense in itself.

Welcome to the world of every other race that when they dont have a defending army they lose their base. The way it should be for every race. There is absolutely no way anyone could claim that this is imbalanced, looks silly yes, but imbalanced? No fucking way.


C'mon now, let's be fair.

If ultras just did their plain old regular splash, they'd still tear that PF apart. It would just require right clicking an SCV and letting the splash do the work.

What I saw in this vid was 1a2a3a pretty much, and as we all know from the tears about MMM balls, that's no damn good.
The core gamer is the bastard middle child of the casual and hardcore gamer. He invests the former's effort and cries when he doesn't get the latter's results.

Now there are 2 ways to kill a planetary fortress. Banelings were the other one. This one is actually cost effective.
I think its a bit silly, but it seems fair considering how its otherwise impossible to kill a PF even WITHOUT army support.

i have a suggestion for the fix, just make it so whenever an ultralisk is within so much range on an scv the scv loses it's repair ability

Way to miss the point. That's the equivalent of saying "Tanks aren't OP just avoid them. Always. They are in your main, find a new one"

Let's not talk about balance and rather this particular mechanic shall we? If a solution to PT repair is needed this isn't the way to do it. We don't need gimmicks. At the moment this is just insane (not in terms of imba) but in terms of mechanics, gameplay, and logic.

You should give this patch some time, I mean it's barely out worldwide, and people are already claiming that x/y is overpowered/broken. Seriously just wait and see what are the consequences in-game before crying imbalance.


Lol, it has nothing to do with imbalance. You can clearly see that the Ultra's splash radius is 5 times bigger than it's stats suggest. I'm opposed to it because it is not intended, not because I think PF + repair should > everything.

Ultra - Building splash radius increased to 6

Somehow I missed that patch note?


Edit: sorry to say this, but are the guys at Blizzard morons? Do they have any internal patch testing at all? They're replacing the building ram attack with the standard Ultra attack and no-one is like ... 'guys, maybe we should test if it works?'
