It's also a good idea just in case Blizzard feels overconfident with their ladder system that they invite the top 3 from every division or top 100 rating for a tourney or something stupid.

There's really no reason to not have multiple ladders for multiple races. Your skill level as X race is not going to be the same as Y race, ergo you should get a different ranking. Not sure how anyone could actually argue against this being implemented. If it already was, there certainly wouldn't be a 'Same ladder ranking for all races?' thread.

I strongly agree with this feature. It doesn't even have to be a separate account; simply separate your points/ranks by races. When you'd select your race for 1v1 ladder matches, your league thing would change accordingly. Maybe adding some info to your profiles that shows records of all race progress. I'd still rather another account, but if that won't ever be implemented, I can see this working out.

It does kinda suck. I want to try out laddering with P/Z but since my offraces are so bad I wouldn't be able to play good games at my main race level.

It really isn't so bad. If you're in plat doing well, you'll be playing vs mostly diamonds. If you have a losing streak of like 5 games, you'll start playing vs other plats, then golds, and then even Silvers. You should be able to get to an even match even with your worst race after just a few losses.

I agree with the original post. Switchinig to Zerg was fucking painful T_T my winrate is down to 53%, and in the beginning it cost me about 200 - 300 points.

I do agree though. I would play a lot more ladder games as other races and generally have more fun if they implemented this.

yes, i think so 100%

and if ur say, a highly ranked player in diamond say, 1400 pts. within ur first 10-20 games of playing a new race u would already be facing players who are a fair challenge. ive made new accounts with trial keys and cracked out 15 games in a day, and by the end of the day i was facing 1100+ diamond players on a fresh account with only 15 games played

What does it matter if you lose several hundred points when you switch races...the ladder rankings don't really matter as it stands.

The timing of this thread is exactly the issue Im having right now...
I've had a 66% win rate as zerg until I got 50... now i want to do the same with protoss, but the level is too damn high for someone blind, as you said.
A good suggestion is to practice mechanics and macro and stuff in 2v2s, not ruining your stats. Watch a few replays, and start soloing.
This helps, but isn't the solution. I went 0/7 with toss, MAJOR losing streak, now I'm 5/12, so if you really care about rating, best not switch as of now.

It DOES matter. Just because you want to have some fun playing your off races doesn't mean you want to have to lose a bunch of one sided games to finally play people that are your off race level. Then when you want to play your main you have to battle back up through people way beneath your skill?

That is not a good system at all.

There is an easy way to do this ...

play 2v2/3v3/4v4 with your off race ... won't make u as good as ur main race but
u won't fall deep, if this is your concern. I was plat terran switched to toss few weeks ago for 4v4, dropped to gold in 1v1 as toss and now with a litte practice i am plat again and doing fine.

And i know 2v2/3v3/4v4 game dynamics are very different to 1v1, but it'll help u get started.

I also wish there was a separate ranking (at least hidden) for each race. It would be nice to be able to play off-race and not get face stomped, or dropping your MMR so low that you crush with your good race. Besides, I care about my ranking. I want to be able to get into diamond with my good race, and I'll ruin my chances if I start playing off-race or random.

I dunno, the guys who I practice with would play 1-2 games with me at most before moving onto something else, thus you need a shit ton of practice partners to actually get any decent practicing time. Custom games just don't work for practice purposes thanks to blizzard going all social on bnet 0.2 and I'm sure this won't change anytime soon. So yeah, we need this different-ladder-for-each-race idea implemented ASAP.
