Apologies if someone has already said this, but aside from Incontrol's informative genetic run down on Artosis, the thing I found most interesting was how relaxed Idra was - there is this image of him as some kind of 1 build bm robot, but he really came across as a normal guy with a sense of humour as well as awesome StarCraft knowledge/skills.
Psy just seemed absolutely starstruck, I think he just needed to relax and bring his normal personality.
The lighting question round could have been good, but was fail, given that most people on the show aren't going to have "media" experience maybe try either feeding them the questions before so they have a chance to keep it quick fire, or just make the questions off the wall weird.
Fighting Talk is widely recognised as a superb radio show (I'm pretty sure its won a few international awards, and thats hard as fuck for a sports comedy show), and now its been brought up I can see the similarities between it and SotG, but do remember the guys on that are professional journalists/comedians/media personalities.

I think a whether or not a segment like that is good has a lot to do with the type of person the questions are being directed at. I don't know if I would scrap it, just consider the questionee before decided whether to include it.

Idra was surprisingly great on the cast, I'd love to hear more from him. Also, where did Psy go during the cast, I think I must have missed a part where he left early or something? Listening to the email replies right now and JP doesn't seem to ever ask Psy for his input.
edit: oh wait he just did now, cool

Yeah same here, and with an hour+ cast there's still tons of information in the cast so it's the best of both worlds.
One of the reasons I like this podcast so much is it makes be burst out laughing.

I'm really liking the guests you bring on every episode JP. Having IdrA and Nony discussing SC2 is something very special, and shows like this really highlight who the players are. IdrA seems like a measured and dedicated player, not a BMing buffoon.
|
After listening to this podcast, it seems clear to me now that this whole BM aura surrounding IdrA comes from Artosis.
IdrA actually sounds like a pretty cool guy. Strangely enough, I was sort of surprised everytime he was laughing out loud. It was nice to hear him talk in a casual context.
Keep rockin' JP.

You should at one point bundle all Artosis references in a single podcast and then release that.

If I could make a complaint about the show, I would say it was a bit iffy to cast Idra and Psy as guest in the same show.
1. There is a limit to how many participants you can have in one show, 5 at one time is probably the most that is feasible.
2. When you put Idra in the same show as PsY, it is kinda natural that he got more attention since he has a lot more competitive experience and all out fame. I am sure that if he was the only zerg on the show then PsY would have a much more natural part of the conversation than he ended up with.
Apart from that, Incontrol is just brilliant in these podcasts, he just sounds like a very cool guy, and at the same time as being very well spoken and articulate you can also sense the craziness simmering between the surface at any time. :D
|
It really just seemed like Psy isn't very involved in competitive SC2, despite having the youtube channel and being fairly high ranked. Really just don't think he fits into the show.
|
Seriously, JP + Greg + Sean + Jeff + Tyler = best show ever. Unfortunately, i can't the same for Psy as he was pretty "absent". Seriously i really like the episode and hope Idra will come back on a frequent basis.

Yo, cpt. Obvious here,
Psy asked who's Artosis, because Artosis didn't know who Psy is in the previous podcast, i think it was a joke you guys didn't pick up. Ofcourse what came out of this was epic.
EDIT:
About Psy's performance, he's more of a rogue commentator, he doesn't have a name in the community and he didn't come a long way with these guys, you can't blame him for not performing like a fish in the water. Rest of the guys know each other quite well, Psy's new to this. He's good, he knows his game, he just has to get into it, get some more experience with the community and the proffessional scene.

Another good show. Incontrol, stop making me become a fanboy!

Thanks you are right, and that makes it even better. I thought it was a joke but didn't make the connection of why.

I agree with most, IdrA was great on the podcast. It was my favorite episode of all.

thisx10.
I was worried idra would have trouble with the sort of environment of the podcast where they constantly take jabs at eachother.
He seemed pretty damn chill.

Yea IdrA was very good ^^ I think it's very hard but I hope JP can get him on more often

Thanks so much for getting IdrA, he's sooo good :D

What do you guys think about this idea for Banelings?
How about making them be researchable from the Spawning Pool? Like Lurkers used to be in Star1.
And if you're going to keep the Baneling Nest, how about making them spawn directly from the larvae rather than having to morph them from Zerglings?
I think it's a double nerf. Can't research ling speed while creating a baneling nest?
Having slow ass banelings traverse the entire map to reach the enemy for a bust?

Hi itmJP, can you suggest to the other skype users to go to "Tools, options, Audio settings, -> Then uncheck the box which says "Automatically adjust microphone volume". This will stop people like Jeff going super quiet, of which he sometimes screams or breathes heavily into them microphone which pushes his volume way way down trying to compensate.

idra was fantastic, and of course all of the regulars were great, nony showing why he's the silent killer at the end XD just when you think its over. Psy is a great commentator/zerg player, he really knows his stuff and he has a great strategic commentary, it just feels like he wasnt quite as comfortable with the regulars and he was overshadowed by idrA when it came to zerg opinions. Overall great episode once again.
