Everyone absolutely crucified LeBron for doing what he did.
No they didn't. They crucified him for doing it the way he did it. It's like breaking up with your childhood sweetheart on national TV for 1 hour while all her friends/family were watching.
People didn't particularly like that he teamed up with Bosh and Wade, but that was his choice and all the blame/crucifixion didn't originate from that.

Few too much Dimaga bashing going on here from people who would get absolutely raped by him. Dimaga has been around for a while and is widely regarded as one of the more skilled players of SC2. Calling out specific tourneys and shit and saying he is bad just shows how new you are to this website and Starcraft in general... you make yourself look very bad.
Personally I admire his choice, if you played in Tourneys for your livelyhood you would consider changing from Zerg too.

There are eleven players in the top ten, eh?

IdrA is already one of, if not THE best. Buffing his race would be a little silly don't you think?
Zergs need to stop whining and start learning how to be good.

what official ranking are you using and how can that be true if there was only 1 zerg player in the top 8 of wta takedown

And frankly, I'm sure these TL users have more credentials than Sheth, Idra, and Dimaga, simply because the TL users are diamond league.
Learn to play, and QQ more. hahahaha thats pretty funny

Zergs need to stop whining and start learning how to be good. IdrA should be the best because he plays the most and the fact that he loses to clever strategies that are only drawn up because of terran imbalances means that terran should be nerfed to the point where it is actually possible to defend these strategies without getting crippled in some way means that terran should be nerfed because idra most definitely the better player
^ not sure if thats clear enough edit: this doesnt mean idra should never lose

It may have been mentioned already but let's not forget Boxer switched races when they nerfed P in BW. Obviously a player is going to switch to the race they feel is the best, and the game's only been out for a month (not long enough for Dimaga to even have a main race). It's not like Jaedong switching to T.

Charles Barkley:
I thought he should've stayed in Cleveland. Him joining Dwyane Wade's team was very disappointing to me.
If you're the two-time defending NBA MVP, you don't leave anywhere. They come to you. That's ridiculous. I like LeBron. He's a great player. But I don't think in the history of sports you can find a two-time defending MVP leaving to go play with other people.
Michael Jordan:
There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry [Bird], called up Magic [Johnson] and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team
Bleacher Report:
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
In the sad, pathetic case of LeBron James, that advice was followed too closely.
James, the mercurial star who jumped to the Miami Heat a couple weeks ago, has already, at age 25, tarnished his legacy in an irreparable nature.
Getting off topic here, but you're definitely wrong. There is such thing as honor in competitive things, be it the NBA or SC2, and it does not necessarily always align with the best chances of winning.

Right now, I just see a bunch of people complaining about a matchup where no Zergs play for Contaminate, Nydus Worms, and Burrow in a phase of the game's competitive history where the raw mechanical ability of players is still very weak.
The game is two weeks into its retail phase. It'd be one thing to spent the next year exhausting every strategy and giving up. It's another to dismiss your available options because they "don't appear to work". I completely agree. It's hard to be creative with Zerg but I think players were spoiled with 1 supply roaches 1a2a3a to victory and still have not gotten past that nerf and tried to use different strategies. I love watching Madfrog and TLO (when he plays Zerg) play. Idra makes it work but honestly it's just because he's way better than most of the other players. Yes the matchup favors Terran but trying a strategy that you've lost with over and over again is not going to fix that unless you have better micro and macro than your opponent. Take Warcraft III. Ensnare was considered useless. Nobody used it. What happened? People realized a free-to-use immobilization ability may be a good thing when units are at a premium. The Blademaster was also considered useless. High damage? Who cares? A-click, focus fire him, goodbye. The Blademaster "sucked". Then he got two buffs. One removed the collision size on Wind Walk (so you can't surround invisible Blademasters) and another increased the damage of Wind Walk. These occurred in 2004. Nothing changed. The Blademaster still "sucked". Then people realized: "Hey, an unkillable, fast-moving hero may be great for playing map control!" And with the help of Ensnare, Orcs turned into the dominant Warcraft III race...in 2007. Like everyone else, Humans whined. But guess what? They tried new abilities. The Bloodmage. Also "useless". Banish? Useless. Siphon Mana? Useless. Except...Banish the Blademaster...Siphon Mana the Shadow Hunter...harass with Flamestrike...wow, the Bloodmage is a viable first choice against Orcs! And how does a Bloodmage get into an Orc base without getting gunned down? Exploiting Orc's lack of detection with a spell called Invisibility...another "useless" spell. None of this occurred overnight, and none of it occurred because the Warcraft III community was rewarded with a balance patch for their complaints. Players got better, they exhausted the game's limits, they experimented. And quite frankly, I expect better from a lot of people on this board. It's been two weeks. Experiment, exhaust, get better. And this is not a reflection on my ability as a player. I'm far from the best here. But I don't blame anyone but myself for those losses. Yeah, Dimaga has a financial imperative to get the best results. But he screwed himself over the moment he said "I can't win unless I play race X". To someone like me, that tells me that he has no confidence in his ability to win. That is very difficult ba ggage to tote at the highest level of play.
Great post.
It seems people forget imbalances isn't a bad thing per se. Again and again asymmetric relationships between races have spurred new tactics and strategies to overcome what seemed unsurmountable. The many brood war fans around here should understand that.
Which race to play is for dimaga to decide, but putting it out there in this manner seems like an attempt to put pressure on blizzard. It doesn't exactly give me faith in him as a player.
|
Its sad to see things come to this, what is blizzard doing. we are not looking for these massive changes that break terran, something subtle such as mules return 10% less or orbitals cost 50 more mineral would be the start to slowly finding ways to effectivly balance the game between all the races with out specifically adressing any sort of TVZ imbalance.
I myself am a protoss player and it ubsets me to see the number of terran players in a given tourney in relation to zerg and protoss, if people at the pro level actually switch races to be given a chance of victory then I think blizzard my lose their reputation of perfection.
However history is destined to repeat itself, is there any past history of this happening in early BW days??

I'm no terran apologist but mech was definitely bad against zerg before the splash damage change.

I think he realized that zerg really can't pressure early very well. U can see his results. I think he nows that terran is much better at being agressive early with reapers, helions, and thor drops

I think the most shocking/depressing part of this thread to me is not that Dimaga is switching to Terran, but that Cool switched to Terran weeks ago ;((((((((((((( I had no idea.

I think Cool switched to random, right? I know that Freedom switched P though.

Protoss needs buff?
People need to calm down about balance. In every Blizzard RTS, there's been periods when one race was considered underpowered - only to become anything but with the next change in the meta-game. One or two small tweaks to Zerg maybe necessary, but if so Blizzard is going to take it slow - as they always do.
I think the real problem here is Dimaga's relationship with his sponsor. Being the #1 Zerg should be enough, fame-wise, for his employer. But if that's not the case then perhaps Dimaga should seek other avenues for sponsorship since the current one seems to expect too much.

Lately I wasnt impressed at all by Dimaga's prestations, he was trying to cheese a lot and failing a lot too. I think that after the roach nerf he wasnt able to find a stable way to play I don't know, we'll see.

The Michael Jordon quote (I listened to the interview) was in response to a direct question by a reporter. Bleacher Report is probably the least credible and reputable basketball-writing venues there possibly is (rivaled by Poopsworld, but Poopsworld is at least sometimes right). Charles Barkley will be Charles Barkley.
Like I said, some people might have commented about him teaming up with Wade and Bosh. But most of the anger and dissatisfaction comes from the way he did it. You think that fan wearing a Lebron jersey at the Indians game a few weeks ago would have been thrown out and booed by the entire stadium if Lebron only left, but did it in a nice way? You think the Lebron jerseys would have been burned if he announced he's leaving, but in a professional manner?

oh I knew Dimaga were making good progress in sc2 pro scene but didnt thought he lived on it, well I completely understand him, Idra has considered change to terran too how ever.
