Yea I just cannot understand why he would choose such a misleading name.
Either way, I'll check this interview out when I get home. Sadly I have no speakers at work...

Sorry but when I created GLHF.it I didn't know about GLHF.tv
I thought: which is the best name for a multigaming community ( starting from SC2 )? I just used the most common phrase used by all polite users: GL & HF. Pretty easy to remember and all people will think about my site when play SC2 or other games.
This is the reason...

Are u guys planning on changing your name from GLHF.it ? Always enjoy the vods, keep em coming! Goooo Artosis ^^!
|
|
|
Watching game 2 right now, loving the VODs. I watched the replays of these games through Artosis' replay pack, but watching them with the commentary and Artosis' insight is much, much better.
|
lol ur name is so misleading ^^ anyways nicely done so far
|
Great stuff. Always love spreading the ESPORTZ.
|
Hey, I really enjoyed this guest-cast. Love to have direct commentating by the actual player. It's especially nice when they speak English fluently and are used to casting in general as Artosis is.
However it bothered me quiet a bit that you re-introduced him for the second and third game. Not only does it feel a bit awkward to introduce someone 3 times because most people will watch all of them anyways but also I felt too long. Although I gotta admit I have seen like 5 videos featuring Artosis currently and in almost each he should mention his life, project etc. ^^
Nevertheless heads up, wanna see more of this kind!
|
I would like to see more of these casts including player insights, good job =)
I also agree with Na_Dann_Ma_GoGo, I think an introduction in the first video would be enough and maybe restrict these shoutouts to one in the beginning and one at the end as a reminder instead of having one in each video, would make a series like this a bit more fluent
|
ok thx for the advice guys ^^
|
Good to note guys. I appreciate the feedback. I will cut down on the intro and youtube plugging. I wasn't sure if they would be all uploaded to youtube or what was gonna happen, so to be safe I felt like having the intro in each game. But now that the format and whatnot is set, I can begin to develop these better!
Also, I am aware my voice may have been a bit low, and the game sound was a bit high in game 2. I will work small issues like this out shortly!
I will doing another tomorrow! Stay tuned to learn who the guest is!
|
|
|
Oh and I wanna really thank Artosis. He was such a great person to have as my first cast with a pro player. Very well spoken, very friendly and extremely well mannered! Mad props to you and thanks again.
|
yes Artosis was the best!! THX SO MUCH!!

Are you guys planning on changing your name? Its super confusing -_-

Great video. Still not a fan of the name.

Professionalism would require you to change the name to something that doesn't clearly confuse large amounts of people. It's not a lot to ask and the benefits outweigh the costs. It's not asking anything but a simple name change to avoid confusing people.
VODs are good.
|
we did not take this name to confuse ppl. I hope this will be clear.

On June 30 2010 06:33 TroopeR.ita wrote: we did not take this name to confuse ppl. I hope this will be clear.
That may have not been your intention, but it would be to the benefit of all involved + the viewers for you to change it, just simple, plain, and wonderful common sense. ^^
|
it's a little difficutl to change our name.. cause in ITALY everybody know GLHF.it.. anyway we will see.
|
Yeah, good videos but I'm in the same boat as everyone else, even if just as a professional courtesy or something. GLHF.tv is one of the most popular/well known Starcraft related streams out there, and regardless of whether it was on purpose or not it really sends the wrong message to people.
|
We offer different services. We are GLHF.it and we never wanted to steal GLHF.tv name. Maybe they will take some more visits because people will think about GLHF.tv when will see our work.
We wont change our name. I will always call us GLHF.it I think that the difference between the two organization it's quit big enough... We have a very good name in italian community and on our youtube channel. I will not lose everything for this little drama. Take some pop-corn and enjoy esports please.
I think that ~1500 people on youtube have understood the difference We will keep going on our goals, we will keep going working hard all days and developing our services.
PS: I'm developing the english version of our BluTracker, so stay tuned!
I wish you will appreciate all our work, because it's free and we never wanted something back
|
Good video, don't care about the name, but a post full of smilies is annoying
|
1. Great Vods SchickySC! Thanks and keep going! 2. Naming part: I don't see that much of a problem, sites have a different target group. Glhf.it main target is to create Italian sc2 progaming scene, and most part of content is in Italian, so if glhf.tv don't thinking to expand them to Italy I really don't see where is a problem.
|
I liked the concept of this show. Will you do similar shows with other high level players? It's nice to hear their own thoughts of their gameplay while actually seeing that game. Who chooses the games anyway? Guest himself/herself or you as interviewers choose some that are available?
edit: The second "introduction" before next game was mentioned earlier, but actually you could use it as a talk show moment. For example, introduction of guest and couple questions, match with commentaries, couple questions about guest again and then match, and so fort. Kind of talk show with matches in between, which allow us to look into gameplay of the guest.
|
thx for the advice... we will record another commentary like that with another proplayer.. tonight.. so in the next days will be on!
so stay tuned ^^

Hi people, I've just finished to develop this Blizzard BlueTracker.
At the moment the BlueTracker is still in beta phase. I've just finished to translate everything in english ( also the site! ).
If you can find anykind of bugs, bad translations or imrpovment/comments please email me at stermi@gmail.com including in the subject that you are talking about the BlueTracker.
At the moment the "Latest Update" is based on Italy time. I will fix this thing in the next days.
|
|
|
UPDATE: just released Huk VODs
|
link updated
|
|
|
nice work
only thing with the Huk videos would be at the end of the 1st one when you're talking about the last battle you box his units over and over and over again that was a bit annoying. You do this a few times here and there but not as badly as in that part. But besides that nice work
|
well I hope you all subscribe, as we could say that the website is almost "brand new", so it can only get better, especially now that the release date is getting closer. In any case, good luck and have fun
|
I would subsribe if you would focus everything towards english viewers. Why not make seperate channels one pure Italian and the other english. Why would a non italian speaker want to filter out the english vids only. its a hassle.
Just my opinion sorry if its to negative.
|

Just so everyone is up to date. We've sent these guys an email, officially objecting to them using the name. At first they were doing Italian commentary, at which point why would we care seeming there's no mistaking right? But now that they're doing English commentary every single time they open a thread people think it's us. They've completely ignored our email however.
A lot of people keep asking if we're related, no, in no way, shape or form. So please, please don't be mislead by their "glhfinbox" donation address, it is not us.

I agree with this, i tried to tell them when they were just opening, but they just ignored that advice, now i don't know why they think they have a good name in the italian community, i know that there is a part of the italian community that does not like them, not only because of the name, but also because of the doubtful (aka horrible) quality of some commentaries. I'm not sure what TL's position is on this issue, or if they should take a course of action. Now just as Martijn asks everyone to not associate them with glhf.tv, i'll ask you to NOT associate them with the whole italian starcraft community.

The VODS were excellent. HuK's commentary on his own games was especially insightful because of the fact that I am a toss player and a fan. Nice work guys.

I think its funny that two groups of people are arguing about the use of GLHF as if they have some kind of ownership over a sentiment gamers have exchanged since before there was any kind of gaming coverage. Great job from both parties.

I think the issue is more that it's kind of rude to choose a name that's nearly identical to another well-known show that came before yours within the same community.

I can't understand their Italian commentary, so I can't judge that. We do appreciate what they try to contribute to the community though. It's the constant confusion and misleading people we have an issue with and that comes up every time. Their content is added value to the community so thumbs up, their brand however is harmful to the community and most of all us obviously.

I actually like GLHF.it vods, the interviews are great. But then again I have been with GLHF.tv pretty much from the beginning so go go Martijn and GLHF.tv

Martijn, I understand your frustration but consider this:
1) glhf.tv went public in march (or even early april?), glhf.it in april. So you can hardly claim they copied your name. 2) glhf.it is quite clearly a site that stands on its own. It's been frontpaged on quite a few popular sites and promoted a fair number of high profile initiatives. 3) you can't really choose a name like "glhf" and then complain if someone has the same idea. It's a risk that comes naturally and that you should have accounted for.
You both have fantastic sites with amazing content and you both serve and promote the SC2 community so well. I believe it would be in everybody's best interest to just stop having childish arguments that really serve no purpose other than tarnish your own reputation and, instead, work together.
One quick note for Ganondorf: man, I have no idea who you are and what the deal is between you and glhf.it, but your posts really come across to me as some sort of personal grudge and not as good criticism.

They registered their domain in the very end of april, we were already doing daily coverage and were one of the most watched sc2 tournament streams. Honestly, this isn't even up for debate. Someone saw it and went "hey, that's clever".

They won't respond to emails. If they won't negotiate in private, the logical next step is doing it in public. Trust me, I don't like having to post here either.

Man, of course it's up for debate. Personally, I found out about glhf.it before I ever heard of glhf.tv, which is why I find this whole argument quite funny and also why I bothered posting at all. Now, please realize I am not necessarily saying that you are wrong: I am just saying that there are definitely chances that you might be, though, and your stance on the issue, in my very humble opinion, should reflect this.
On July 05 2010 20:21 Martijn wrote: So how do you explain it coming up every single thread? We're not bringing it up, they're not bringing it up. Yet every time someone gets misled.
It comes up because, obviously, IT IS confusing. The problem is that I don't think it's glhf.it's fault, it's just the combination of two sites choosing a very obvious name like glhf. It doesn't help that you chose the "tv" domain and they chose, being italian, "it". Just live with it mate, I think the IQ of the average SC2 player is high enough to distinguish between the two sites (or at least mine is, and I am no genius).
On July 05 2010 20:21 Martijn wrote: [They won't respond to emails. If they won't negotiate in private, the logical next step is doing it in public. Trust me, I don't like having to post here either.
I believe you mate, but really, perhaps you could go the extra mile and just accept you guys can coexist peacefully and maybe even benefit from each other. Behaving like this in understandable but it is also quite ugly and depressing to see two nice sites fight like this over their name.
|
While I appreciate the GLHF.it content, I believe it steals "brand" from GLHF.tv. Go Martijn!
I hope this will get solved in a way both parties are happy

We're trying our best to resolve the matter in a fashion that both parties find agreeable.

I find this discussion quite interesting. We are in beta and already there is drama of someone who named their brand a month (or so) public before someone else, and with that using the most common used phrase in starcraft and other RTS.
Yeah its very similar, and a bit confusing if you never heard of the names. And in my personal opinion, just let eachother co-exist. I remeber having a small discussion on the GLHF.tv thread of others asking GLHF their ustream setup, and they didnt want to give it out because they were afraid they would lose viewers to them. Almost sounding like that the video quality of the stream was the "only thing that they had going". That people would leave instantly because theyr commentating was bad, but their video was good.
No bashing or anything, just let eachother co-exist. If you do good commentary, you have nothing to fear.
|
Discussion is underway and I hope things get sorted out fast so I can start casting with pros again!
Thanks for the feedback everyone. The communities satisfaction really makes it that much more enjoyable for me to cast.
|
I think the only serious issue is that the ".It" stands for "Italian". This really gives the impression the GLHF.it is the Italian brand of GLHF.tv. This is what I initially thought, anyways.
What I find especially odd, is that for an italian source you guys seem to put out an awful lot of English content. Not that I especially mind, but it further confuses things.
That being said, Shicky -- leave those guys, and let's you and I start up GLHF.Can. It would be no way affiliated with either of these two brands. It's just "good luck, have fun. Canada".
|
hahaha.
glhf.ca ftw. Registering now!
Kidding.
There hasn't been much english content on there, only the 2 (6 games) interviews and 1 other game i think.

I appreciate your desire to generate hype around your next posting, but your goading players into 'guessing your next guest' is in no way contributing to the community. A lot of us casters are guilty of bumping our own threads in order to keep it visible and on the front page, but this is sinking to a new low.
