In any case, I don't know a lot about it. Personally, chat rooms are soooooo 2002.
Group chat and guild chat? THAT IS NOT CHAT CHANNELS.
100% agree.

LOL maybe you didnt notice that the CM says "he doesnt know allot about it."

The way that Blizzard has tip toed around some of the questions makes me think that they think their fans are stupid and we'll give up on this nonsense protesting because they know what's best for us. They're supposed to be catering to us, the people who give them their paychecks and keep them with jobs. It's amazing at how they can ignore the majority of their SC2 fans when most of us are all upset about the EXACT same things which are major issues and not some whining like "Roaches need more buffs!!". Then this guy has the balls to ask if we really want chat rooms? Sarcasm on this subject isn't funny and a poor choice on his part. He makes himself look like a complete jack-ass and it just pisses me off. There's a time and place for that, but when you have the majority of your fans (people who buy your products) pissed off it's not very smart to do.

We have nothing. Guild/Group rooms are not a replacement for community chatrooms. If you don't have a guild, you still have a very hard time meeting people to join one.
SC2 is not a game where you can sit and chat for 5 minutes in the game and see if you are compatible with the people you are playing with, that's what the chatrooms were for.
And their whole 'maybe someday we'll have plans for region swapping' thing isn't much of a solution either. For one, that sounds exactly like what they said for WoW, and it took them several years to give the users the ability to pay $$ to switch regions. That's not what the players want.

LAN parties are the best part of WC3 for me and I was looking forward to them in SC2. 4 to 6 of my friends get together on the weekend and play all day. To be honest, I don't really care about the leagues/rankings because one random guy could have no life and play all day, instead it's about the community, my friends, that I play with. Blizzard, this makes me sad, and hopefully someone will go ahead and add some code to the game to ennable LAN.

Are these guys trying to kill their reputation and image?

I don't know about you guys, but some of most memorable moments from SC:BW were from just hanging out in the chatrooms. I had some pretty good times in the old X17, where I would just sit and bullshit with some players like 1st~Tsunami, Agent911, Blackjack, Whiteflame, and many other oldschool players. I also joined my first clan(LiZarD) because I met a cool group of good players by using the damn chatrooms! Does anyone else remember LiZarD? That shit was old!
Myst~LiZarD <3.

lol there are 47 pages of people complaining about lack of chat channels on the bnet forum http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=25170606873&sid=5000&pageNo=47
This is not just a TL complaint. This is a player complaint.
Also lets do a quick stop in at our poll results. Still going strong!

Do you really want chat rooms?
No $H33T!
Did this guy have a brain fart? "Do you really want chat rooms?" Where do they find these guys? Are they that out of touch?

Group chat and guild chat? THAT IS NOT CHAT CHANNELS.
By group chat they mean groups that work like facebook groups, that are either open or closed, and discuss a central topic.

By the way have you ever heard of macro? well, i hope you don't judge guys like me by their post counts, because i like to update my older posts rather than make new ones because i don't like huge numbers of pages in threads...

I could be wrong...but maybe Blizzard is being a tip toe artist in answering questions because it is trying to LOOK LIKE A MONEY GRUBBING COMPANY so that guys like that Bob Potick or whatever his name is will think highly of them.

I dont like people with 2 posts telling what we can and cant do. He can go look into the history of the macro mechanics if hes wondering what were capable of.

I wonder how you got this bit of info but assume you're correct, TL.net could create an open group? HDH invitational? Zotac Cup? Ginger Kids with Two Siblings?
In what way does that differ from private chat channels?

you could've said something like...
"thanks for taking the time to post in my thread, but i'm not sure you understand much about the competitive community, considering your post count.
can i be your teacher for the day and give you a new word to find out what it means in relation to starcraft? today's word is: macro."
you get the idea, right? just be more polite to the newboy?

Blizz/Activision are HUGE companies in a capitalist system that know how to get the most "bang for their buck" out of customers. The mainstream consolized "spend spend spend spend spend" crowd outnumber dedicated pro-gaming users 20 to 1. Just enjoy the game and shut up, seriously.. it didn't work for L4D2, it didn't work for MW2, infact, it those games sold FAR more than their predecessors. I'm disappointed as well but when it comes to huge corporations in lovely capitalist America the voice of the minority are silenced by the sound of money. It worked for Spore so it could very well work for SC2. If we want to make ourselves heard there aren't many other options. Next time instead of just trolling try to be more constructive.

Even the mere idea of guild channels doesn't make sense. Why the hell they would create some particular kind of chat channel, when they can just give back people private channels and let 'em decide what kind of channel they want. There's no need even for current friends invite party when you have old good private channels ugh.
