"The new Battle.net will completely revolutionise the current version, but Blizzard is still looking to making this experience free for anyone buying StarCraft II or future games that use Battle.net. One idea which has been discussed in different iterations is microtransactions, meaning the service is free, but added value services like starting a custom tournament, league, or the like would cost a small amount of money."
chat rooms allow it to be too easy to organize tournaments without buying a "custom tournament"..
Just want to point out: That is Incgamers, not Blizzard, speaking. As far as I can tell, there are no quotes in the actual article about microtransactions for creating tournaments. This is not to say that Incgamers is wrong, of course. Just that we don't yet have evidence, as far as I know, of Blizzard saying they want to charge people to make tournaments.

ah i hope you are right, i was reading that other thread about blizz/activision it made too much sense to me with there being no chats and difficulties in adding people to ur friends list(thru email and facebook only if u havent played before? wtf?) and even in Husky's video he talked about how fricken hard it was to organize a tournament..
No cross-realm support? If we don't have chatrooms, we can't droll on and that, but no cross-realm support kind of puts a wrench in the Esport scene, doesn't it? Koreans look down on foreign play already. Now we need another Berlin wall to separate our already spread community?
Even though you might be playing soccer within the context of the league, you're not playing at a professional competitive level, but you still feel like you're competitive within your league.
..I don't care about my 100 player bracket.. I want to play everyone who is at my skill level and above to get better....
If you have a really bad internet connection, but you have a couple of friends there...
That functionality's not there. Our goal is to make sure that connectivity to the Battle.net servers is such that that's the experience that people want.
"Yeah, thats right, no lan. Take it mother heffer."
Yeah its not looking so good.. I had a dream last night that I went to purchase Starcraft2 from Bestbuy, and it was like 112.99.
I am not looking forward to all these dumbass features blizzard plans on incorporating with battle.net and starcraft 2. We want a simple, playable game that is fun to PLAY, not to poke around with your dumb features like buy new maps.
my response to Husky video with the kittens in the visual.
i am confused about how map testers are supposed to test the multiplayer aspects of their maps internally without lan. but knowing how good facebook is...it should be ok. but if facebook is cross regional it doesn't make sense to not have cross regional play in bnet 2.0. unless of course they mean for public games. if it's for public custom games and ladder play, i have no problem with it not being cross regional. that's fine. if they mean that, then we're good. and if they mean that there is limited cross regional play, that's really good. like adding cross regional tournaments, and letting you play cross regional in private custom games, that's really good too. i think no cross regional play should only be for like ladder games and public custom games with the exception of limited cross regional games for like cross regional tournaments or whatever.

this is incorrect. they apologized that they did not realize while developing warcraft 3 that such a thing would be desirable, and they programmed warcraft 3 in such a way as to make it impossible to do.
yeah i hope this won't happen for lan.
i don't mind AT ALL if LAN is not included in the release.
if they design the game so they can add LAN later, and they do add it later on, that's totally fine by me.
i really do want LAN, and i imagine i'll be very disappointed if it's not in the game. but i honestly don't care if it's not in the game by release, as long as it comes out when I will feel like going to a LAN party and play starcraft 2.
Soooo... back to BW! Blizzard u suck!! Us gamers make ur games what they are today!! This is how you say "thanks but i'll make sure i make the most money from this game evethough it fucks up gameplay"... we brought you up we can bring you down!! Wait n see...
All who read this, please comment the blizzard and starcraft facebooks and complain about this bullcrap. Maybe they will get enough they will do something
I can't believe this. No chat rooms???! How is it even possible to find new friends or build up a community.
I played WC3 before and when I saw the SCII Beta format, I really thought it was just the beta. But now that it is coming to an end and Starcraft 2 is being released soon I am really disappointed. Everything about Battlenet 2.0 is bad, not a single thing makes me wanna say "don't delete this feature!".
Seriously, I am considering going back to WC3 or even try out Broodwar to find SC2 players and then add them to my account. But even that I don't like. At the same time when I want to add someone, I give out my personal information. And what's even worse, FACEBOOK is connected to my account so everyone can see where I live and this bothers me. The only thing keeping me here in Starcraft 2 is the gameplay. Blizzard has one thing that they haven't failed yet at and that is the gameplay...
Actually, even if 100% of the community is against it, Blizzard doesn't have to do a thing. There will still be enough people who buy SC to generate a profit. There will be many UMS games and people will just keep buying the game to play those. Blizzard doesn't really care about community. Maybe it used to care about community because that business model kind of worked. Right now it doesn't need to. It may act as if it does care about the community, but deep down, all it cares is $$$$$ and nothing else.
For all of you that think boycotting/one staring the game will change opinions, think again. Blizz/Activision are HUGE companies in a capitalist system that know how to get the most "bang for their buck" out of customers. The mainstream consolized "spend spend spend spend spend" crowd outnumber dedicated pro-gaming users 20 to 1. Just enjoy the game and shut up, seriously.. it didn't work for L4D2, it didn't work for MW2, infact, it those games sold FAR more than their predecessors. I'm disappointed as well but when it comes to huge corporations in lovely capitalist America the voice of the minority are silenced by the sound of money.
Dude, linking facebook to your account does not invite everyone to see your personal life. ALL IT DOES IS SCAN YOUR FACEBOOK FRIENDS LIST, AND ADD PEOPLE TO YOUR BATTLE.NET FRIENDS. That is it. Jesus people see the word facebook and have not fucking clue what they are talking about.
What an absolutely awful interview. "So you told us about this feature, and we're looking forward to it. When can we expect it?" "Oh no. We're not actually implementing that at all. But don't worry, we really know what the community wants!"
Blizzard is disgusting me with their plans for bnet 2.0.
We just got a litter of kittens a few weeks ago too; amazing little bundles of joy! Found a home for two of them which was sad but I was glad they got to go together.
Agreed with everything you said. The longer Blizzard takes to honestly respond to this "shitstorm", the less hope I have. I really expected them to give some sort of response by now.

So how do you advocate getting any change? Or is your strategy "bend over and take it"?
