The FF nerf is very minor. Early game sentrys will play exactly the same, and I'll happily drop FFs to force a Terrain's thors to stop attacking and walk around in circles.

There's no way in the current ZvZ that you're going to be able to rush overseer without losing all of your drones to speedling/bling.


doubt that it should be more than easy enough.

Double gas instead of 1 gas early, speed upgrade first 100, plop down roach den or baneling with next 50 (roach den faster, but more defensive), lair upgrade next 100 and then overseer with following 100. Just more reason to double gas early.

Since overseers dont cost food if i remember correctly, couldnt you just build a insane amount of them if you ever max out and then do infested terran drops, i mean I doubt games are gonna get to that point that often, but still.

How do you figure?

Maybe if your only strat is to one-base or something. But I dont see why you would suggest they cant make stuff at the same rate as T. Just make more of whatever you need, be it warpgates, stargates or robotics facilities.
Those small maps were like a boxing match in a phone booth.

Yea there are already speedling + fast lair builds. In fact a lot of them skip roach + baneling. If you gas + pool on 14 (same time) and then throw down 2nd gas once you have 50 gas, research speed at 100 gas, you'll hit 100 gas again right as your queen comes out, and before an opponent would have baneling tech.

yeah but 125 energy for a 15 second unit... thats more than 3 minutes of energy for... 15 seconds of a single unit per overseer. Not too efficient. Maybe if you have 4-5 overseers drop one all at once, but then 4-5 mutas would still be better for damage harassment

Correct. But that would be a waste of resources since infested terran sucks ass and you're bound to lose overseers.

I'm not concerned about specific balance changes, I'm concerned about the motivation behind them.

There has to be something very wrong, or something very secretly brilliant about the balance team mentioning ZvZ as a basis for ultralisk changes.

Just like I hated the forge change. I didn't care how it affected balance, but I did care that they made the balance change because low-level players couldn't stop a cannon rush.

Same can be said about spine/spore crawlers, usually once you hit max you want to make sure you can re-macro up your army as much as possible if it dies.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea by any stretch, just that it isn't as crazy as one might think.

In a fastest map style game where resources really arn't the limiter I think it would be absolutely hilarious to do a 300 overseer swarm over his base...

Err, that overseer spell is way OP.... how is protoss going to get any sort of air control to stop overseer corruptors coming in contanminating and then leaving??

Well do we know for a fact that the overseer only drops a *single* infested terran?

For 125 energy, what if it drops like 5 of them instead?

I'll admit that a single infested terran for 125 energy would be pretty useless, but the wording from blizzard is very vague thus far.

I think the Ultra w/ less health is going to be a bad bad idea.
Why not have like 25dmg +5 armor? Instead of like TOTALLY re-working the damage. They do seem to favor making HUGE changes, rather than just doing a Straight Buff. Just give the fucker more damage vs Armored... so much easier to determine how it effects the game. If you change 3 aspects of the Ultra- its going to be hard to distinguish what actually was effected- especially if the unit continues to be used so infrequently.
I just get the impression Blizzard doesn't know what they are doing as much as most would assume. Seems like over reactions.
