The balance shouldn't follow top progamers. You cannot predict what kind of strategies they will invent and adapt. Sometimes T dominates, P dominates later, then Z. It's all natural.

And that's the truth! It is still beta tho... so once the game is released, I expect more of the "better BW players" to get into SC2...
As of right now tho blizz should just pay attention to strictly "pros" and then try to work it out... there are so many "noobs" crying about such absurd things that everyone LOL's at it.... but then we actually see it changed in the next patch and all of the "above average" players are like WTF?!?! -.-
Anyway I'm about to play MW2. Someone let me know when the patch is actually released so I can see what this is all about...
*sighs I wish you could also vote down MU's where you vote down maps... lol [ ] Zerg [ ] Protoss [x] Terran
^^

You can't really go based on what mid-level plats/golds say either! xD
(Gold being D- (loooow D with below 50% win rate protoss) in BW imo)

hmm patch isn't working for me. Hows it going for ya'll

Looks interesting. Definitely scratching my head about some of the changes but I'm excited to see how they play out. Hopefully the Ultra changes will help out with some of this brutal Marauder/Mech play in ZvT.
Only time will tell. Can't wait to see how the pros adjust to these changes. Time to get creative with Overseers.

Same issue, looks like we'll just need to wait a bit longer

I don't see how that has changed. They're still massive and inhibit good surrounds, they're still extremely expensive, they still die almost immediately to most of the commonly produced mid tier units (immortals, marauders, tanks, etc), they're still slow as hell, and now they're even easier to kill.
I don't feel like I need to say anything about terran getting buffed again. They are still good at getting to that line of Siege tanks. It takes 8 siege shots for 1 ultra to go down. Makes a pretty big deal. Hellions won't do any damage to them period, marines won't do any damage to them period... and if they have mass Marauders you wouldn't want to go Ultras anyway. Now they do serve a purpose. They can get to tank lines pretty easy, and they are great at taking out buildings. When does a terran ever not mass marauders? I don't and I'm 1800 Platinum. I did when I started but after losing and realizing how much better options they have I phased them out almost entirely. Again, listen to "The state of the game part 5" here on the forums. Listen to the top players talk and they agree with my thinking. Marines are the real juice, and metal is the real juice vs zerg. Listen to the last pod cast I refereed to plz. Don't take my word for it. well you're 18 platinum so you clearly aren't bad. what's your opinion, personally, of the ultra buff I think that Blizz went overboard with it. I think 500 maybe 550 would be a good number. I could still see them having some uses, certainly no more or less then last patch. I like the damage + armor thing.. with frenzy thats pretty damn effective. Again, I haven't even played it yet.. its something that I think needs TESTING.

Just started downloading the patch. Looks like it could be going live soon.
EDIT: Okay says its preparing to download but the play button takes you into the game instantly but the servers are still down. Hope I didn't get anyone too excited.

Hmm.... some people say they are actually downloading it... I seem to be stuck at "preparing to download new patch..."

Well... same here atm...
...but it's better than the game starting and not being able to log in xP
They obviously wiped the stats since I can't post on battle.net forums...

Mine doesn't download. It shows the patch notes screen, but immediately the play button lights up and doesn't download anything.

then who should it follow? the lower level players don't know the game as well as better players. why wouldn't it follow better players?

I don't think ultras will be all that weak even with the hp nerf, I mean, unless you were maxed out before, they held up very well, and now with frenzy they can tear an army apart in seconds. The changes should make ZvP very interesting though. As a terran player, I think terran will just rape now, I went 25-11 to take me to first in a new platinum division right before that patch, and while I agree that TvP might have been imba a bit if the protoss plays perfectly against the terran build, void rays weren't really that much of an issue.

I disagree, if you want invis detection you need them with your army anyways, and check this:
hellion: 90 hp, light reaper, 50 hp, light banshee 140 hp, light
DT: 40 hp, 80 shield, light
all current harrass units have risk involved to them by having low hp and being light
I don't want to be a whiny bitch, and we'll all see soon how it will work out, but thats my observation

Or even Gold! D- in BW would do a great job at balancing a new RTS game.

I like how every single patch is a 'fucking horrible patch' yet the game seems to be balancing even more after every single one!
