Updates that people actually want and ask for ? How man, you perfectly know that facebook is way more important than any gameplay issue everybody is pointing out on this forum (and so many others).
Warning : this message may contain a sarcasm.

On a serious note, Blizzard made a deal with FB to create a half-assed platform in exchange for $$$ from FB. Stop screwing around and create something decent for the fans Blizzard. The game is great, but Battle.net 2.0 feels like a relic from 2001. Where the hell is the innovation?

blizzard this is the ultimate low blow, id like to say a lot worse but because i am respectful of teamliquid's forums, i will just say this, eat it

oh my god.. doesn't blizzard realize I have no life and no facebook page? This could bring alot of noob blood into starcraft tho, and that's good for the community.. it's a PR stunt. I don't think the hardcore fans are meant to care about it or even like it.

I'm not annoyed that they added facebook integration.
I'm annoyed that they prioritized it.

It really feels like a kick in the face to see that facebook icon when virtually nothing you actually want is implemented in bnet 2.0. It's like salt in the wound
|
.......... was farming when they found a Wandering Zergling! .......... wants their friends to help the Wandering Zergling by giving him shelter for the night.

I think that a good thing to do would be to get a representative of us, the players, some1 whose word and opinion mean something in the sc community ( artosis maybe? ), to do an interview with dustin browder, some1 who can address all these issues SERIOUSLY AND FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF US,THE GAMERS, while there is still time to change them. Because at this rate, when sc2 comes out, we'll have this awesome bnet 2.0 with all of it's cool features. And I for one, would really like to hear what the man in charge has to say. and with no bullshit incomplete answers like in the interviews before. too bad there's almost no chance of that happening...
|
The FB integration is ok, Just tried it now. None of my friends are on it (But then the battle.net account emails of my friends is not the same as those on their facebooks). It would be cool for my RL friends on FB to be able to find me on bnet, makes it easier for them to find me.
At least it doesn't spam my FB page with stuff like "LaustinSpayce has earned the Solo Protoss 5 Achievement!" "LaustinSpayce needs 3 buddies to 6 pool! Sign up to FarmCraft and help him get his mafia gang to dominate the kingdom!"
I just don't understand the rage about this FB thing.

I don't even have a facebook acount....
|
I'm lost, how are you people still complaining about the facebook integration? The first thing you guys complained about was the fact that it would interfere with your privacy/meld with your real facebook/etc. Now we see that all it does is allow you to CHOOSE who you want to add to your bnet friends list from your facebook friends? I for one see absolutely no problem with this, and you guys are no worse than the guys talking about 2012 being the end of the world. "OH NO FACEBOOK SC2 GONNA FAIL!"
|
So, Facebook is implemented into Battle.net 2.0 and Blizzard can get information from Facebook. However, my gravest concern is: Is the opposite also true?
Is Battle.net 2.0 giving information to Facebook? Can people on Facebook see a list of my buddy's SC2 friends (i.e. me), and start sending notifications to my battle.net related e-mail about getting my ass onto Facebook? Or even worse, if that buddy of mine doesn't bother fixing his privacy options, will everyone, not only his friends, be able to see my full, real name, e-mail address and battle.net account?
Not that it matters much to me personally, as I won't add a single RealID friend until I can choose not be shown to friends of friends. But it's an important issue nonetheless.

So you know that bnet 2.0 is gonna be used for all future games from blizzard? e.g. WOW is full of nerds(just like tl.net is comprised of almost only nerds) and to some extent not so nerdy people as well, people who actually become friends whom then go on to meet up more than three or four times a year at blizzcon, tl.net meetings etc. You know those people? they might actually like this. They might like it so much its worth it to blizz to add this kind of feature. Perhaps thinking about bnet 2.0 for what it is, a social utility, and not solely as a matchmaking service for starcraft(as it were for sc1 and wc3) will make you rage less and actually understand why blizz did this. But once being a total nerd I get it, it's hard to think outside your own comfort zone and when things dont make sense it's irritating.

And WHY does EVERY online service have to be a social utility? Maybe you should consider that a large majority of people play games to get away from real-life social interaction. Starcraft IS A GAME not a social platform. Either way, without ingame non-party chat, it'll never become that.

Hey if there weren't so many other more serious problems to consider this feature would actually be... no wait it's still shit.
