It does not resemble the same tech pattern. Gateway/Cybernetics unit vs Factory unit. It does not resemble the same cost. Lets take 4 Sentries, 400 gas = 1 tank (100 Siege Tech + 25 TechLab + 100 Factory + 125 Tank; 50gas leftover). It is rushable (proxy + sentry + reinforce with sentry or sent 2 sentry and proxy pylon after forcefield). You ain't gonna rush with 1 tank. One is invulnerable to everything. The other you have to question just how many units you need to support it.
the cost doesn't change anything and isn't relevant. in both cases you're left with X value of sentries or tank/vulture. you might say the cost is important because it changes the timing of the containment, but the timing isn't relevant either. in both cases at the time of the contain the defender has (in an even game) the ability to prevent the containing units from setting up a contain. if the forcefield contain comes earlier of later than a seige contain that doesn't in itself making it more or less fair.
there is no reason you should let a sentry walk up to your choke unopposed just as there is no reason you should let a seige be set up at your choke unopposed. the end.
also, are you kidding with your 'proxy something into not make the opponent make units into somehow take economic lead' strat?

Man, oldschool Guildwars GvG/HoH. I personally still haven't found a competitive team game able to come close to the skill, co-ordination, and strategical complexity of that gem.
Great show, be nice to see dj develop as an rts player, and it's excellent to get articulate insight's from different competetive scenes. Chill astute as always xD.

Tirpak calls in all the time to that show. We've got a history... he's neither high or slow, he's just the Tirpak. Plus he invented the Tirpak Rush in SC:BW - get minerals, send marines. hah gg

Ahh thanks and I agree. Let's hope GW2 does something good. As for developing as an RTS player... even tho I'm born from an FPS womb... I have to admit I feel at home. Thanks for your comments.

There's this game called Dark age of Camelot. It was released in 2001 and is still up and running, and is still considered by many, to be one of the best pvp-focused mmorpgs of all time.
You should check it out.

Great topics! Keep up the good work guys! I think the community needs this kind of show!

See its sad that people miss out on Guildwars. Thing about it was it wasn't really an mmo, nor an rpg. It was like this wierd multiplayer action game, except because of the way builds worked the strategy had the depth of one of those deck building card games like Magic: The Gathering. Similar to somthing like DOTA, but without the laning, and with more variation in team setup. DOTA/its clones probably comes the closest, and it's pretty different from those, so really to my knowledge Guildwars was/is quite unique. Man people need to make more games like Guildwars, Starcraft is great to watch/play in a competitive sense, but team games always have that cool aspect to them. I guess that's why proleague is so fun to follow, gives a kind of team spirit to the games. Didn't mean to shut down your suggestion or anything XD, i'm sure it's great in its own way, I just have many passionate childhood memories about Guildwars.

Would there be a chance of putting it on the calendar? I`m sure it would prevent a few nerds from missing it.

GLHF.tv was having problems with their streaming channel, so they are currently broadcasting the Zotac Cup Finals there... once it's over WoC should begin. I'll keep you updated!

Great show again!
I have a question about this week's Chill Challenge... are you suggesting that we proxy and cut off worker production in our rushes and go totally all-in? Or try to maintain some sort of economy?
|
only watched it through TL and experienced no lag at all
thought it was an interesting cast

I don't suggest you proxy, but I do suggest cutting workers and going all-in. Once the rush has failed / is successful, you should revert back to making workers and playing more standard.
