I know about EULA and license text, but give me link to user, that have been banned for replaced textures. 2 topic starter. You can add texture files to enGB.sc2assets file. There will be no file replacing, because this sc2assets-file have highter read priority and there are only localization files. So you can add files to same folders and there will be new textures or sounds ingame without replacing old files

Which I wouldn't really see as impossible considering the amount of users that are probably using this. All i'm saying is that I would feel really bad for all the people who got banned for using this, supposing that people do get banned. And i'm not really sure why people would want to risk it, unless of course you are filthy rich, which I am not. The changes do look pretty good, but I see potential in people editing textures so they can see cloaked units alot easier or something to that extent. It all looks cool, but sadly it's not worth a potential ban and -60$ from your wallet. Good Job, and Good Luck. ( i hope none of you get banned, but i'm not taking the risk, i'm too poor) T_T. Not rich either but editing textures is simply something I enjoy doing and i just like the new look. I'll update the OP to include a warning though, but honestly there are also custom sounds mods, and there were custom keys mods before PTR. The whole changing textures to make units invisible has been brought up before. I don't think it is possible, i mean, when an opposing unit is invisible, you simply don't see a texture at all, so editing a texture wouldn't change this. Not 100 percent sure about that but thats how i think it works. Also the textures don't affect how your opponent sees the game at all. Everyone, please use at your own risk! I don't believe blizz would ban you for this, but i can't promise anything.

I can't seem to find it. I would love to change OP with this info.

This was used a lot of CS, you made CT bright green/blue and T bright red/yellow. Was much easier to spot everyone! I do not think that Blizzard will hand out bans to people who have been using custom textures, at least not without first making a warning. On top of that, can they even track what textures you are using?

it basically makes the colors on units look less on like pastels which blizzard just loves for what ever fucking reason--it is hard for them to comprehend this is not the late 19th century impressionists movement haha. Very interesting, personally, the colors are too dark for me to play with, however, in an artistic sense they look much cleaner and crisp.

EDIT: I've heard of World Of Warcraft players changing the texture/moedl of the flag in a CTF game to make it alot easier to find their flag and players getting banned for that (obviosuly that is blatant cheating though)

If this is actually true and works, you CANNOT get banned for doing this. It is on the EULA, and Blizzard stated that you cannot modify MPQs. HOWEVER, you CAN add them. I know of this because i wanted some custom hotkeys before and started messing around with this stuff.

Ofcourse its something that might not be "allowed" , but in my view the positive points are way better than the potential damage. I mean with every "modification" you can somehow do something that clearly damages the game; but as long as you don't do that, its just a nice touch for your gameplay experience that contributes to the fun you have with the game. Overall i could see an option to effect unit textures ingame. For Protoss the "Tal-Darim" could easily look different than the ordinary Protoss; some Zergs might just "adept" to the planet in some way and change their appearence. For Terran Buildings i could see different textures on "ice/snow" planets , or give them some extra "Lights" on dark planets. Should be really cool for sure.
